I backed up my iphone on one laptop and then restored it on another.

This was when I was updating to iOS5. My first laptop, backed everything up, and then halfway through the update, it stopped working, which then caused my phone not to turn on. I then tried restarting my machine and everything else, but it didn't work, so then I tried on my other laptop and it did the upgrade just fine, but now all the data I backed up, my contacts and pictures are lost, and there was some important things in there which I need back. Now, when I plug it into the first laptop, it doesn't restore any data or anything.
Is there anyway to solve this?

you could salvage the backup of the iphone from the org laptop
but depending on how damaged the harddrive of that laptop is it
could turn a very very very pricy matter

  • If I back up my iPod Touch using iCloud and then restore it, will I be able to get back all my photos, app data, etc?

About 5 months ago I was clearing up space on my PC. I had moved music that was in my music folder onto a USB and I thought that I could do the same with my iTunes Library folder onto my USB. But it wouldn't fit, so I moved it back. But when I went to back up my iPod it didn't recognize it anymore. I haven't been able to restore it anymore. Just until now I'm trying to see if I could back-up my data & photos to iClod and then Restore it, but I'm just a little unsure. Can anybody just reasure me that this will OR will not work.

I don't really think that you need to restore your device in order to sync it again with iTunes. I suspect all that you need to do is connect the device to iTunes and then accept it as a new device and choose the option to start syncing with that library.
Of course, it would be a good idea to back up to iCloud before you did this.

  • My problem is that since I update my iphone 4s ios 8 and then restore it and when I connect to itunes does not sync my music only applications

my problem is that since I update my iphone 4s ios 8 and then restore it and when I connect to itunes does not sync my music only applications

I had a similar issue and I was told that my iTunes match was on.
I had to disable iTunes match on my iPhone.
Following which - after you plugged in your iPhone to iTunes, select your iPhone on iTunes menu. You should see a summary page of your iPhone where it provides options to update or restore. On the bottom there should be an option to select "sync only selected music/playlists". I can't remember the exact wording. Once that's been checked, select your iPhone's music tab and it should allow you to select the music playlists you want to sync.

  • Question about backing up to an external hard drive and then restoring

I want to back up my iPhone to an external hard drive rather than to CDs/DVDs, and it isn't an option under "Backup." I thought this could be done by consolidating the iTunes library and then copying the entire iTunes folder to the hard drive. But now I've read some things that make me not so sure. Can this be done? And if so, how do I restore everything if need be? I want to have a way to backup/restore in the case of having to reformat the hard drive or if I switch to using another computer. I am using a Windows computer.

Your iPhone's backup, which is created and maintained by iTunes stores data such as most iPhone settings, email account settings, contact info, SMS messages, notes, recent calls, call favorites, photos available in your iPhone's camera roll (you shouldn't depend on your iPhone's backup alone for these photos, which should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera), and 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app.
It isn't necessary to backup your iPhone's backup. You can manually update your iPhone's backup at any time without syncing, and the same when connecting your iPhone with iTunes on another computer. With your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, control-click on your iPhone and at the menu window that appears, select Back Up.
Maintaining a backup of your iTunes library is much more important - copying the entire iTunes named folder to an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes.
Since the iPhone is designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer for contact info and calendar events, you should maintain a backup of the supported application on your computer for this data. Photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone are not included with your iPhone's backup, so these photos should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data.
When syncing an iPhone with iTunes on another computer, only iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased first, not all data on your iPhone such as contact info and calendar events. When selecting photos to be transferred to your iPhone from another computer, all photos available on your iPhone that were transferred from another computer will be erased first. If you don't select to sync contact info and calendar events with a supported application on another computer, contact info and calendar events on your iPhone will not be touched.

  • I accidently deleated itunes on one of my laptops and then enstalled it on another computer.  When I went to sync my iphone it erased all the original music.  Is there a way to get that back?

I tried to reinstal itunes back on the computer I deleated and it now will not allow.  ???

Use your backup copy of your library to put it back on your computer.

  • Activated iphone on one computer and now cant use on another

I was in Michigan for a couple of months and that is where I bought my iPhone in July. I activated it on my friend's computer up there and now my home computer in Georgia will not even recognize my iPhone when I connect it. I have tried erasing all data.

Not entirely sure about iPhoto as I don't have a mac, but when syncing from folder(s) only the contents of the most recent sync will be on the iPad - but I assume that iPhoto will be the same and will therefore remove the previous sync before putting the ones on. He also won't be able to copy them off before syncing as you can only do that with photos loaded via the camera connection kit or saved from emails/websties.

  • Is it possible to buy an iPhone in one country and then get a contract in another country to go online in the latter country?

In my case I bought one in China, could surf the internet in China with my Chinese contract, but when I returned to Germany and started a German contract, I couldn't use the intrernet anymore outside of Wi-Fi. I've already been to a shop of my phone supporter (Base), but they couldn't help me no matter how often they re-entered the APB-stuff and turned the phone on and off.

Apple has not yet announced the availability of unlocked iPhones in
the US, but they are for sale in Canada, parts of Europe, and elsewhere.
Warranty is not international. Service and repair/replacement only in
country of original purchase. LTE/4G may or may not work in other
country depending on bands and frequencies used.

  • TS1368 My Iphone 4S connects to internet and Apple Store properly but it doesnt connect to ITunes. Whenever I try to connect to itunes I get a message "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". I have to connect my IPhone to a Laptop and then access iTunes

I have followed almost every step mentioned on forumns. I have upgraded IOS to 6. But I just cannot connect to iTunes from my iphone 4s. Everything else like WiFi, 3G etc works perfectly. I can even connect to App Store to download applications.
Does anyone have a magic trick to make it work?. I dont want to try Restore unless its a last resort..

"is this just a scam by itunes not to engage with problems?"
    Of course not.

  • Can we buy iphone from one country and then change the service provider

    Hi,
I wanted to know if I buy an iphone from india today can I change the service provider when i come to U.S.A. for my studies in Jan

It seems to depend on the country where you bought your phone.
In Australia, with a post-paid account I can have my carrier unlock the phone for free so I can use the phone on a pre-paid account in the States when I am there.
My carrier here gets paid regardless as I am on a 24-month contract.

  • Is there a way to un-sync my iPod from one computer and then sync it to another computer with iTunes without losing all my data or downloading software?

Hi, I'm selling my current computer that my iPod is synced to and want to un-sync (I think the correct term of phase is) my iPod from my current computer, so i can then sync it to my new computer without downloading any software or deleting all my data. Is this possible? If so, please tell me how. As usual, any help would be helpful.

    Do this:
    - iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive
    - Then import into your new computer
    - Copy any synced photos to the new computer
    - Backup the ipd to the new computer
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup. The link directly above says how.

  • Can you no longer sign out of the App Store with one ID and then sign in with another?

i can no longer sign out of an Apple ID on the App Store and then sign in with another. I did this in order to share games with my sons. Is this no longer possible? When I try it now I get a message saying he will have to wait 90 days before he can use his ID again.

The page that I linked to, associating a device and the 90 days, has been around for a few years (at least 3), but from what some people have posted on here the association doesn't always kick in.
Are the apps that you might want to sync in the computer's iTunes library that you sync his iPad to, or have you got copies of them somewhere so that you can add them to it and then sync them instead of redownloading ? If they were bought on a different computer, and are still on that computer, then you should be able to copy them over to his iPad's computer - by default an iTunes library is stored under :
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
    Windows Vista: \Users\username\Music\iTunes
    Windows 7 and Windows 8: \Users\username\My Music\iTunes
There should be a 'Mobile Applications' or similarly named directory under it - copy the apps to a flash drive, if not already done so then authorise your account on his iTunes (Store > Authorise This Computer menu option) and then add them via File > Add To Library menu option

  • Can i save a query in one package and then can i move it into another .....

can i (in bw 3.5)save a query in one package and then, can i move it into another package? if yes what is the procedure? if no, why? if yes , after moving can i see that query in one package or both? plzzzzzzzz its urgent....

    Hi Neeraja,
Yes, you can save a query in one package and then move it into another package and transport the query with new package.
    There are two ways...
    1. You can change  the package assignment from one to another with the same request and transport the objects with request assigned to the new package.
    2. You can create a new request and assign the new request to new package and transport the new request with new package assignment.
For first one, follow below process...
    Changing the assignment:
           1.      Choose  Package in the toolbar of screen area Collected Objects in RSA1 --> Transport Connection.
The Select Objects for Changing package dialog box appears.
           2.      Select the objects whose package assignment you want to change.
This procedure is especially useful for changing all collected objects, or a large number of them. For this reason, all indicators are set by default. Remove the indicators for individual objects where necessary.
Note: You can only use  Details to display the details for an individual object when this is the only object that is selected.
           3.      Choose  Copy. The Change Object Directory Entry dialog box appears.
           4.      Enter the new package.
For second one, you need to add the query in the transport organiser and assign new request and transport package and then go for transport. But this will create two requests on the same query. So, don't go for this. First step is preferable.
    Hope this helps u...
    Regards,
    KK.

hi, my memory was full so i decided to backup my iphone to the laptop and by mistake everything got deleteed and got replaced by the old backup? anyway i can get my stuff back ?

Oh no! You restored from a backup instead of creating one! If you do not have a more recent backup anywhere, then there is no way!

  • Two iPhones on one laptop/iTunes

My wife and I both have an iPhone synced to one laptop and one iTunes account.  They are linked now.  If I get an app, she gets it.  How do I keep my phone from updating hers and vice versa?

Did you already deselect the option to sync new apps automatically in the App pane in iTunes? This will prevent new apps getting installed without selecting them first.
If your phones have different names, you can set up each phone in a different way, and iTunes will remember the settings each time you plug it in.
Another option would be creating a new user on the computer, set up iTunes, back up manually, transfer the purchases, set up at least one contact and event on the account and let iTunes erase the phone. After that, use the backup to restore the phone again.

  • How do I back up multiple iphones to one itunes account

I'm sure this is possible, I've seen it where there are numerous back ups listed on itunes for different devices, and how you can hover over each to see the IMEI and serial number etc.
All my devices have the same apple ID and I have a PC with windows 8.
I backed up an iphone 5s back in February. Now I want to back up this iphone 6 that I have borrowed from work so I can restore this one on to my own new iphone 6 if that makes sense. But when I connect the borrowed iphone it just asks me do I want to restore it from the 5s back up or as a new device like this:
If I press new phone will it reset everything that is already on the phone I borrowed? Or will it then allow me past this screen so i can set up a separate back up?

Make sure each iPod has a unque name and just connect the iPods to the computer one at a time. Check the apps and other items that you want synced to each iPod.  Also see:
