I Backups happen when this ipad is plugged in, locked and connected to WiFi. I don't care to back up, I just want ipad unlocked
I have a message on ipad "hasn't been backed up in 43 weeks. Backups happen when this ipad is plugged in, locked and connected to WiFi. I don't care to back up ipad, I just want to unlock it.
Do you mean you have forgotten your passcode for the slide to unlock? If so, the only way to undo it is to restore it in iTunes, and without a backup to then recover from, you are going to loose all the content on it.

Seriously, backing up is not really optional - sooner or later, it becomes essential to have a backup in place.

"This iPhone hasn’t been backed up in 2 weeks. Backups happen when this iPhone is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi."
I am get this message on my Ipad and have followed the instructions, connect the Ipad, lock the screen and connected to a Wi-Fi connection - however I have done this but I still get the message on the screen. It will not even let me press 'OK' - the screen is not responsive... I cannot access the OS. HelpReset your iPad to clear that condition:
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). -
Screen alert, "This iPhone hasn’t been backed up in 2 weeks. Backups happen when this iPhone is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi." doesn't go away after tapping on "OK" button. Can't even switch iPad off.
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Backups happen when this iPhone is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-F...this is the message i keep receiving, what am I doing wrong?
You be sure the iphone is plugged in, locked and connected to wifi. Then a backup will be attempted. Or, you can manually do a backup inside...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, turn on iCloud backup and tap the Manual button. -

Cannot move past message that says iPad has not been backed up in 2 weeks by clicking ok. Trying to verify wi-fi connection
I am having the same issue with my iPhone since 12/1/12.
I have meanwhile changed routers to Apple Extreme plus been out of town and experienced various internet connections. Still get same message that my iphone has not been backed up since 12/1.
I have removed most of apps to sync as well. Zero results!
I have done manual back up in iTunes, and when I 'restore backup', the box shows the correct time for manual restore I just did. But the message still keeps popping up on my iphone that the phone has not been backed up. I get that same date - 12/1- displayed in ITunes as well.
I just did "Reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then releasing" as you suggested and unfortunately, it still is showing 12/1- even though when I click 'Restore Backup" it shows the recent update.
Any more suggestions? Thanks!! -

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Hold both Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds until your device restarts, so you will be able to use it again.
The Power button is the one that you use to put your iPad in sleep mode (at the top of the iPad), and the Home button is at the bottom of the screen -

The dialogue box doesn't go at all even after pressing OK a hundred times. I treid tacking the back up through itunes and through 3G conncetion but of no avail. Please help
I too have been having this issue since about 12/14. That is around the same time I got the Ipad for my kids. I am unsure if it is related. I have tried logging out of icloud/deleting it and trying again. Removing most of the apps to sync. I reset my router. All of the attempts have produced zero results. I will be anxiously watching this thread for some help. Good luck to you also
