I Beam Cursor Invisible.

Does anyone know why the I Beam Cursor is sometimes missing or invisible in a document or on a web page.
This behaviour is since Snow Leopard installation.
Thanks

  • Making the mouse cursor invisible.

    I am currently in the deployment phase of software made for two touchscreen kiosks.
    When moving the applications over to these kiosks I realized that we needed to make the mouse cursor invisible.
    I have tried the
    Cursor cursor = new Cursor();// ALthough i was unable to find a cursor constant that gave me an invisible pointer.
    testFrame.setCursor(cursor);
    Any ideas how I could remove the pointer from view alltogether?

    Toolkit tk = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
    Image image = tk.getImage("yourPicture.gif");
    Cursor invisibleCursor = tk.createCustomCursor(image, new Point(0,0), "invisible cursor");I usually use a 1 x 1 transparent gif.

  • I-beam cursor in flash sprites

    I'm having a problem with the I-beam cursor dissapearing in
    text fields in flash sprites. I'm using Director MX and flash MX. I
    see that this problem is fixed in the latest version of Director,
    but my client requries WinNT4 support, so I'm stuck using MX. Is
    there any way I can fix this, or at least minimise it?

    sussed it. i'd dimmed the screen brightness with 3rd party prog. Shades.
    colour change of cursor was affected by that, turning cursor white. whack the brightness up and all becomes normal again.
    hope that helps someone.

  • Can't see Xcode I-Beam cursor

    How can I set the XCode I-Beam cursor to white? It is very hard to see the grey cursor on a black background.

    Most Mac applications use a white background. You can try software to change your cursors, but no guarantee that they will work.

  • Exception when trying to make cursor invisible

    i don't want my application to display a window, so i'm creating a custom cursor from a 1X1 transparent image, and set the cursor to that... after trying that i get an exception...

            catch(Exception e)
                System.out.println("Couldn't make cursor invisible: "+e.toString());
                e.printStackTrace();

  • Beach ball and i-beam cursors pixelated

    An otherwise rock-solid indigo iMac is exhibiting something odd: anytime (across all applications) the beach ball or an i-beam cursor appears, a square of video around them appears as pixelated or scrambled video data (the standard arrow cursor doesn't appear to exhibit this problem). This has gone on through complete wipes and reinstalls and the usual troubleshooting methods as well as through various updates of OS X.
    It has the stock ATI Rage Pro chip standard to those models. Could this chip be bad? I've found only one reference to a problem like this, but that was in a retail ATI board, not an iMac.
    I'd appreciate suggestions on possible solutions! Thanks!

  • Mouse cursor invisible, but still functional

    So, I recently updated my system and after the next reboot, the cursor was gone.
    Okay, it was not that gone, it was just invisible, but I can use it right now as it was there.
    Unfortunately, it was not the smallest update, so I currently have no clue, which package may have caused this.
    Any ideas?

    This happened to me as well, several weeks, maybe even months ago. In my case, it seemed to coincide with installing cinnamon. Is cinnamon something you installed recently, by any chance? At any rate, I ended up having issues in cinnamon as well, and I wonder if running both DE's side-by-side potentially causes issues. For instance, I noticed that some settings in tweak-tool in gnome carried over to cinnamon. They share a lot of core apps and maybe it has something to do with config files...?? I eventually just made a list of apps I wanted to keep and did a fresh install using my existing home partition and deleted any config files I didn't want. I really needed to do that anyway. I now have KDE and Gnome. KDE is as buggy is ever, but gnome does seem to be behaving itself this time around. Sorry I don't have any better suggestions.

  • No i-beam cursor with Flash Text Box in Director

    I am trying to use a Flash Textbox in Director to accept typed user input. While this works okay, the ibeam cursor disappears, leaving the user no clue as to where he is within the Textbox. This happens randomly and unpredictably. Is there a way to solve this?
    Thanks.

    In Flash, create a dynamic textfield in Flash. Give it an
    instance name. Embed the font that you want to use. Write a
    function that will set the text of this new textfield to the value
    of the argument of that function. Something like this:
    function newText(someString) {
    textField.text = someString;
    In Director, import the Flash .swf, write a behavior for the
    action that you want to trigger this new text. Something like this:
    on mouseUp me
    sprite(X).newText("some new string of text to display")
    end
    Where X is the sprite number for the Flash file.

  • Making a cursor invisible?

    Does any one know how i can make my cursor turn transparent while I am running a labview program? I'm finding it rather obtrusive to have my mouse visible at all times during the program when it doesnt need to be

    I think making the cursor transparent is a BAD idea. What happens if your program crashes? Now you can't see the cursor. If it's obtrusive, then move the cursor off to the side. You can do this programmatically if you need to.
    Not only that but the mouse will probably still be functional. If you don't know where the cursor is and click then who knows what will happen.

  • Cursor invisible

    I'm in the process of setting up ArchLinux on my new laptop, an ASUS A6Km. But I've got a rather strange problem.
    After I installed slim (Simple Login Manager) to boot in init 5, my cursor disappears. I can still use it, I just can't see it.
    But it's visable in urxvt and opera (which uses qt) but not in any gtk-apps, the rootwindow or any windowframe.
    I'm using Xorg7, my wm is WindowLabs.
    I havn't any clue what's wrong, anyone have any clue?

  • Flash cursor I beam invisible!

    I know it's a Director Flash Asset xtra bug, but I thought it
    was fixed in the new update 2006.
    I have a Flash file embeded in a director projector.
    Sometimes, when the cursor is over a Flash input text field, the I
    beam is invisible. Is there any possibility to overcome this issue?
    Thanks for your help.
    Serge

    Hi, Roonil - You may notice that when the cursor jumps, it jumps to a specific, predictable place: it moves to the exact spot in the text where you last left your trackpad/mouse pointer.
    When you are typing and you use the trackpad (or a mouse) to move the cursor, make sure to move the trackpad/mouse pointer either out of or below the text field within which you are working so that when you do brush the trackpad the trackpad pointer will move either to the end of a line or to the end of the text field.
    (I realize that you may not be brushing the trackpad with your hand [or sleeve or jewelry], but in certain situations, the ambient humidity, heat or static discharge from your hand is enough to effect the trackpad's capacitance. See: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=15285 )
    Also, consider installing SideTrack as a replacement trackpad driver. It contains several filtering possibilities for accidental trackpad input as well as quite a few other features that aren't available with the MacBook Pro's standard trackpad software.

  • I-beam (text) cursor doesn't show on white backgrounds

    The I-beam cursor (for text editing) doesn't invert on white backgrounds, which are common in all apps. Hence, it is invisible. This occurs in the following apps:
    *MS Office 2004 (Word)*
    FINDER (when you edit the name of a file or folder)
    iTunes 7 (in any field you edit)
    Runtime Révolution 2.9 (an IDE dev app)
    *Adobe Illustrator CS3 (using the Text Tool)*
    *Quark XPress (using the Text Tool) Version 6.51 up to 8.1*
    BBEdid (v 8.x)
    Google Earth
    Toast 8
    Vuescan
    Firefox (2.0.0.13)
    The problem occured already under 10.5 Leopard, and is still a nuisance (read: not fixed) under 10.6 Snow Leopard
    Anybody have a solution of how to let this cursor invert again as should be? Or hack some system file to make is permanently black?

    i have tried this new charset combination specifically for iphone and i m waiting for response from sweden alliance.....i hope this works fine as iso works great for 8-bit characters.
    would like to have your thoughts though.

    Don't know for sure, but I would start with the Component.setCursor() method. I don't see an "invisible" cursor in the Cursor class, but there is a Toolkit.createCustomCursor() method that you might look at.

  • I want to change the "blinking solid line cursor" to something that is easier to see when typing in a url or like on this line where I type this question.

    I want to change the "solid straight blinking line"....to something easier to see. It is really hard to see it especially in the box where one types in a URL. Thanks

    You can widen the "I-beam" cursor but if I recall correctly, the thicker it gets the more it will overlap the text to some extent so that can sometimes affect readability.
    The following thread has the "under the hood" settings for this: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/900479 Size of the text cursor (insertion point)?]
    Can you get a display that you like?
    ''Edit: The problem I remembered was when the blinking was turned off. See [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/949937 i need smth like `ui.caretInvert: true`].''
