I believe this is a bug. Incompatibility with MS UAC.

I posted the problem below yesterday and then slept on it. This morning I proved that with the default UAC setting selected in Windows and using the the two disk setup I indicated below, then the filters I mention do not work. IF I reset UAC to the base (never notify) level of security, the filters work fine. PS is clearly not able to handle the UAC requirements and instead throws what appears to be a catchall error msg. (Yes, I realise that it is unable to access a disk and so thinks there's a memory problem, but by coding a more helpful error msg, ie one related to permissions/UAC, would be helpful).
I could not find any reference on the web to this error message being thrown when UAC is set to its default and two disks are being used. Why, I wonder ? Are folk just turning off UAC - which isn't really very wise, perhaps in a domestic environment, but commercially it would not be acceptable (speaking from experience).
So how do I use the default MS UAC security setting and be able to use all the PS filters ?

I think I have solved this (for me at least). Photoshop CC, giving the same error. Scratch drive was set to D: a large SSD with 100Gb of free space.
I ran Photoshop CC as Administrator, then changed the scratch disk to C:, checked that Filter Gallery would load, then set the scratch disk back to D: and checked again.
Exited PS, reopened normally, all working.
Rebooted PC, tested as normal, all working.
Would be interesting to see if that helps.

An Applescript error appending to list objects - I believe this is a bug?

Try this on your machine....
Step 1: Paste this script into your Script Editor and Save it to any file name you want to give it.
Step 2: Run the script and hit Command-S to save the script.
set xLimit to 8144
set aList to {}
repeat with I from 1 to xLimit
set end of aList to I
end repeat
This should work just fine.
Step 3: Now change the value of 8144 to 8145 and run the script
-- no problem either ... UNTIL you TRY TO SAVE THE FILE.
Control-S, File/Save and File/Save as ...don't work.
Script Editor says "The document xxxx.scpt could not be saved"
I also tried this on a different computer with the same result.
Both machines are up on the latest version of Leopard and I am running

Here the error on saving is more precise:

The error is in CocoaSpeak but a Stack Overflow is potentially dangerous to
execution stability. I dont feel comfortable with just trying to ignore this.
Page 233 (appendix B) of the Applescript language guide is not more descriptive
than the above.
Anybody else know about this? Am I doing something wrong in trying
to append to an existing list? I've tried other variations before posting
this note. Some of them are:
1) Initializing aList with 1 or 2 elements first -- same result but xLimit
has to be set to 8146 (for 1 element) or 8147 for (2 elements) to fail.
2) Using a reference to aList such as
set refaList to a reference to aList
No luck here either --- Same result.
3) Putting ()'s around aList or using my I or my alist constructs
all yield the same result.
4) Just for completeness I tried the following dreadfully slow technique
inside of the loop.... ah yes, you can go above 8150 but somewhere on or
before 8190 it results the same as all the other ways.

Even the sledgehammer failed.
You will not notice this error if you make a change to the script and then save it.
It will only be obvious if you run the script and try saving immediately
afterward -- without making any changes.

Good call.
I tried this script. When I commented out "bb" it showed the error as
as I indicated. However, when I UNCOMMENTED the bb line, as suggested, it worked.
I also tried this inline (outside of a handler) and replicated the same result.
So the idea is -- we have to make sure that we close out these
lists prior to terminating the script. That's not great but its a valid workaround.

Thunderbird locks up in minutes and I found that there are over 800000 Sent messages some duplicated 1000+ times. I believe this has something to do with probl

After a few minutes/seconds- after a few commands, Thunderbird locks up. After checking folders, trasn and Sent were very large- 800,000 in sent folder and many are duplicated 1000 times. I can't delete before it locks up.
Expect it is locking up Tbird from functioning. safe mode does not help.

I tried compacting again and let it run until it gave me a message:
"The folder 'Sent' cannot be compacted because another operation is in progress. Please try again later."
There is something poisoning this process and causing this to lockup. I have swept for viruses but nothing shows.

Yosemite incompatibility with older time capsules?

I backed up my Mavericks late 2008 MacBook Pro and installed Yosemite - I am impressed it flies like the first day i bought it 6 years ago, what great hardware!! Yes here's the "However!!" I have problem now though, not with my MacBook ProI, but with my 3rd Gen time capsule - the only thing that has changed is the install of Yosemite and yet the Time Capsule although initially recognised by Airport - keep splurging out "An unexpected error occurred. Try again". Of course, I've followed every advice I can get find; reset to factory, connect over WAN over WiFi, reset for 5 secs, when it powers on etc. etc., but no joy. I tried installing previous Airport Utility, but only the version that comes with Yosemite works with it. So, I believe there may be some incompatability with the new software or Airport version and that version of time capsule firmware and/or hardware, it was working perfectly on Mavericks an hour before update. Nothing I can find in any notes/docs from Apple said I had to be wary. Ho hum!!! Just be careful out there!!

OK, thanks for the clarification on that. No guarantees using wireless, but we will try.
To set up the older Time Capsule, we need to know what operating system you are using on your PC or Mac. If you have a Mac and are not sure what operating system it is using, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About This Mac and post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.
An iPhone or iPad could be used for the setup as well.
In the meantime, please take your laptop and walk it slowly to the area where you plan to locate the "extending" Time Capsule.
Check to make sure that you can get a good, solid, reliable wireless signal at that point. If you can, great. If you cannot, then you will have to move your laptop closer to the "main" Time Capsule to find the right point where you can get a good, reliable connection.
The "extending" Time Capsule can only extend the quality of signal that it receives, so the right location is critical for decent performance.

Is this a JOGL bug with GLJPanel, a driver problem, or what?

I've been trying to eliminate a problem I've been experiencing with my WorldWind Java (WWJ) application and I think I've finally taken a step torward finding the root cause, but I'm not sure whose problem it is yet or who to report it to, so I thought I'd start here and work my way up; if it can't get solved here, maybe it's a driver issue.
The issue goes something like this:
(Note: this only occurs when the -Dsun.java2d.opengl=true flag is set.)
I have a GLJPanel on my primary display that works beautifully. I drag that panel onto my secondary display (slowly) and it disappears. Poof. If I position the panel halfway between screens, I can get about half of the panel to render on the secondary display, but any further than that and it disappears. I tried this on a Frame and with a GLCanvas as well and got different results: in a Frame, if I dragged the Panel over and then dragged it back into the primary display, it would disappear on the secondary display, but reappear on the primary display once it was dragged back. With the GLCanvas, I didn't have any issues.
It's fairly simple to recreate this on my computer by using a WorldWind example that extends ApplicationTemplate and just adjusting ApplicationTemplate to use WWGLJPanels.
However, I went so far as to reproduce the problem with a plain old GLJPanel:

Firefox will not start, even in Safe Mode. Evidence suggests that this is due to an incompatibility with the latest update of Java.

Firefox will not start in WinXP. (I am sending this from an alternate browser.)
I believe that this is due to some incompatibility with the latest update of Java. I believe that one of the tabs from my previous session included a Java application, and this is causing the difficulty. In recent days, since the last update of Java, I have had difficulty in loading linked pages with Java applications into Firefox, and have needed to switch to a different browser to do this.
Now I cannot even start the browser, presumably due to the presence of a Java application on one of the restored tabs.
When I now try to start Firefox, my ZoneAlarm security s/w presents the message "Java(TM) Quick Starter binary is trying to access the Internet." I click "Allow", but Firefox will not start. If I click "Deny", the same result. The same thing happens when I try to start Firefox in Safe Mode, I cannot even start Firefox in Safe mode.

You can try to disable the Java Quick starter and the Java Console extension in the Control Panel > Java.

I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Then you think that Brazeca is holding my hand and being a nice guy. This is a bug that I'm seeing in Apple's new MobileMe service and I believe they are making use of the System Messaging Server product. (Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-6.03)
Specifically I have an email that's MIME HTML and what I observe is that lines >999 chars are being truncated so in my case the nested table doesn't render correctly because a whole chunk of the HTML itself on this line has been truncated.
The message fails to render correctly in their Web Client but also in Mail.app when it's accessed over IMAP4

I guess I spoke too soon! I really can't believe this nightmare is not over yet! My account is still wrong. The credit that I was due totaled $63.00 I am looking at a message on my phone saying that $21.01 was credited which makes my balance $219.72. I received a text the following day that says, I processed your credit of $30.00 and your new balance $216.73 how is that possible? None of the late fees were credited and the amount due for my monthly charges are wrong. Before any changes were made to my data plan back in Nov. My monthly charges were $140.00, I needed my hot spot back and i was told that the hot spot will increase my bill $10 for each phone that totals $20. The customer rep that change my data plan at that time also gave me a credit of $20 to compensate for the increase until I had time to talk with customer service about the mix-up with my Hot spot. I originally had the hot spot, but the rep that change my plan almost a year prior told me nothing was changing except I was getting more for less money. I explained to that rep that I need my hot spot 4 times a year...and I don't want my plan to have any changes. To verify what I'm telling u check my account and see that I called from Albany New York wanting to know where my hot spot was and I was told I didn't have the hot spot on my account since the last data change! I lost money once again due to the verizon rep's. so my current data plan the rep promised would increase $20 which makes my monthly charges that were $140 prior to the change $160 after the hot spot was returned to my account. Then I was given a $12 credit per month for 12 months because of so many mistakes made to my account so with that $12 credit my monthly charges should $148 + surcharges + taxes and that's not what I see. I do know this much right now my account is in such a shambles I can hardly see the light at the end if there is an end! I need real help!

Funnily, it doesn't seem to happen here, but it does when entering text in a web interface (using Firefox, font Bayan) and when using Text Edit.
Seems to be a problem of a specific font, as e.g. Arial MS Unicode works fine. Any hints?

You can't do Arabic on MS Word for Mac. This app has never supported RTL scripts, so you need to use something else. Mellel is best, but Pages 5, TextEdit, Nisus Writer, Open/LibreOffice should work OK.
You switch between languages by using the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen or by using the keyboard shortcuts apple/command plus space. Go to system prefs/keyboard/shortcuts to make sure that is activated.
To see which key does what, you use Keyboard Viewer.

No you do not have a virus. That is a standard web popup usually, that tres to get up to download a "removal program". The removal program is the virus or similar.

Problems with 1.0.7 OS upgrade, can't file support claim, they want me to PAY! for support now! I can't believe this!

After this 1.0.7 OS upgrade yesterday my PB still will not open TXT or HTM file attachments, Bridge files will not recognize MUSIC or VIDEO files on the PB or my PHONE. That is simply incorrect. Contact your country's Blackberry Playbook Tech Support and give them your playbook PIN or serial number. They will be able to help you, because the 90 day period is being extended, for free. If the agent somehow tells you you have to pay, demand to speak to a supervisor.

You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br />
