  • I just bought a mac book pro.  Can I facetime with my iPad?

Is is possible to call my own iPad from my Mac book pro?  I'd like to be able to call the family from work.

Thanks!  I figured it out.  It was something stupidily simple......I had to add the contact to my iPad and to my Mac separately.  I'm able to call the device now.
now I have a new issue.  I need to convert THM video files so that the iPhoto app. can play it.  I don't know a trusted website for the free download and I'm learning slowly how to navigate through the apple.com website.  Please help direct me.  Thanks!

  • Does the Mac Book Pro 17" (early 2011) come with a restart CD?

Does the Mac Book Pro 17" Osx lion (early 2011) come with a start up CD. Trying to install Windows 7 and it ask to install the CD that came with the Mac Book Pro, but my box did not come with a CD?
    Thank you in advance.

Actually the Late 2011's came with the horrible OS X Lion 10.7 and a ability to install OS X on a blank drive by holding the command option and r keys down on a wired Ethernet/Internet connection. (Internet Recovery)
The command r held at boot is for Recovery HD, which is on a partition on the boot drive, which yours is obviously blank.
Once you get Lion on it, and get to AppStore, you can upgrade to worst OS X Mountian Lion 10.8 from there or redownload it by loggin in with your AppleID.
There is a way to shoehorn OS X 10.6 onto that machine (fastest and runs older PPC software) if your interested.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Flash Player isn't installed in OS X by default, so you have to install it manually from Adobe wesbite, if you need it > http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

    Ideas?

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

now my problem is that all my past work which i did on older version on GB, has missing sounds in it. so here are my questions
    1. DO i have to install JAMPACKS on my new Macbook pro?
    2. Are JAMPACKS still compatable with the new GB?
    3. There is an UPDATE on the new GB on Appstore and once i click it, it goes to billing no detail is provided what this update is for so help!
    thanks

See: This document explains what the in-App purchase is about.

Do you still have your old Mac?
How did you migrate from the old Mac to the new Mac? Did you transfer your old software and documents using Setup Assistant? Then your old GarageBand '11 version should have been migrated, and all your instruments.
if you did  not migrate GarageBand '11, copy your old Instruments Library and Loop Library over from the old mac. Copy the following folders to a thumbsdrive and merge the missing dontents into the corresponding folders on your new mac:  (from the system library - the top level library folder on your Macintosh HD):
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/
And if you would like to continue to use GarageBand '11 for access to missing features, copy also /Applications/GarageBand over, but to a subfolder of Applications. I recommend, to install the old GarageBand as well. It can be used in parallel to GB 10.0, and will come in handy, if your old projects are having problems.

The JamPacks are nice to have, a terrific collection of instruments and loops, but if you did not have them previously, that will not help with your missing instruments. You can instll them by buying Mainstage 3. They work well with GarageBand 10.0

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

I just bought a mac book pro - When setting up my computer it told me that I there was updates to my operating sytem - to install the updates. I installed them and then restarted my computer - But it still says that I have an update to do - which is the operating sytem one that I just did??? Do I still need to do something else.

    bschau1963,
sometimes updates have other updates as prerequisites, so one set of updates can lead to another set of updates. Unless it is asking you to apply the same update over and over again, you should probably accept the new set of updates that Software Update is offering.

Yes, he purchased Mountain Lion on his Apple ID. It is licensed to him. What he should have done was erase the HDD and install the system that the Mac shipped with. Erase and re-install either from Recovery Partition or the disks the Mac originally shipped with. Then, purchase ML with your own Apple ID and install.

  • Hi everyone. I bought my Mac Book Pro 2 years ago and it has had problems since. Did they sell me a faulty netbook?

Hi everyone. I bought my Mac Book Pro 2 years ago and it has had problems since.
Did they sell me a faulty one?

They say it happens with laptops
Well... yes... it can happen with all computers, but that's certainly not a resolution.  Are you working directly with Apple or a different service provider?  If something (Word) has not been working since day one... even after repairs, then they haven't fixed it (provided you told them about the problem).
Basically, as others have said... if you've been getting the service you've described directly from Apple, I would give them a call and express your concern.  You're in good shape while your warranty is still effective.  Get them to fix it to your satisfaction.  If something isn't working as it should, don't be afraid to say something.
