I bought a used Ipod...

Hi everybody, I'm Tom and I'm new here. I just bought an iPod touch from a friend of mine. I am not overly savvy with these things, and have only used my sister's Nano in the past. Now, I hooked this thing up to my computer today to try to put the music on it off of my computer, and it doesn't seem to want to let me. I'm sure there is a term for this, and I'm sure there is a way to fix it. It is just beyond me and I am hoping somebody can help me soon. Thank you so much!

Since you haven't said, I'll ask. Have you installed iTunes onto your computer? What happens when you connect the iPod Touch, does iTunes open, or if it's already open, does the iPod appear as a device on the left hand side window of iTunes?
Once we know these things, we can move on and work out what's not happening etc.

take it to apple store and schedule genius bar appointment. your iPod is still under warrenty because that version is not even a year old. They should replace it. Good Luck!

If you did not yet connect with iTunes, you can place any music from your library back into your iPod from the computer. When set to automatically manage usic and videos, whatever iTunes finds changed in your music app will be reset to what is on your computer iTunes library.

Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPod. The man who sold it to me said he bought it from another guy and sold it to me..So, I don't know what to do! I searched it up and it said you could go to iCloud and iTunes, but It's not working for me. Please help!!

you have a thin brick. I suspect your iPod was stolen or lost. I would turn it into the police since it is worthless to you if you can't get the previous owner to remove from their account

You can't. This is a security feature to prevent the resale of stolen iOS devices. You need to contact the seller and have him/her remove it from their iCloud account. Or return and get your money back. See: Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support

You should restore the the iPod to totally erase the iPod and add your own media to the iPod.
Connect the iPod to your computer and restore to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.

I'd recommend restoring the the iPod, as this will remove all content and restore all settings to factory defaults.

You would change it in settings.
You chould read the manual.
I would reccommend restoring as new.
