I can hear sound but cannot see anything on my iphone

I was deleting apps so I had enough room to run the new update, and the screen just shut off. I can hear when I get phone calls, texts, etc. but cannot see anything. Anyone know how to fix this?

    That happened to my iPhone once. It seems that a connector had come loose. No amount of resets or restores would help. It required a trip to my local Apple Retail Store where they replaced the screen and had me on my way in 10 minutes at no charge.

  • Can hear video but cannot see it?  How do I resolve this?

    Why can't I watch certain videos on my laptop?  I can see thse on my iPad just fine.

    Well, since the iPad doesn't use Flash (it's incompatible with iOS), the video is probably HTML5... or you're using SkyFire on the iPad, and it uses "Server side" rendering fo Flash content if the video ISN'T HMTL5.
    Usually, video problems are caused by outdated or corrupted video drivers. Check them and update if necessary: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765

At first, I see a black square, then I see bluish circle, followed by musical notes.Then the screen stays black. I see a black square and then after the video ends, I see in the upper left corner of the black square, a replay icon. I have VLC  version 2.0.3. I tried to see if I have Windows Media Player in Programs and Features and I do  not see it listed. I have Windows Media Center. Thank you for your response. Ldxrunner.

    Press and hold the home and power button together for about ten seconds, wait, then press the power button for about 2 seconds, or until it turns on.

    I just hooked up my Apple TV - I have an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to do mirroring and I can hear sound, but no video.  Any suggestions?

    It Depends on the app you are trying to airplay. Most apps do not allow content to airplay with video and will disable the video so all you will hear is the audio. If the app you are using does not have a built in airplay function and you have to use the iphone to make it work than most likley that is the case as I described above.
    It has to do with copyright protection and what the app is allowing apple to do.

    So when you look at your Preview it is Black indicating a camera is there and selected as no camera would not show a video icon and if from the Preferences would be a grey background and a no camera message.
    I see this is a iMac. Any chance it is a G5 one ?
    If so go to System preferences > Displays and make sure it is set to Millions. (Change it and change it back to be sure)

    How long did you let it charge? It may take 30 minutes before the iPad responds when the battery is completely drained. Let it charge for at least 30 minute using the wall charger. Then rest the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
    If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is 100%.
    If the iPad still does not start make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.
