I can not get Adobe Reader to run

I have had many issues with Adobe Reader not working. When I go to open it it does not work. I have uninstalled it and now it will not load. When I go to open the file all I get is a small blank box and it will not go any further. I do not know what else to do. Help!

Also, are you trying to open a local or online PDF?  If online, in what browser?
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?

    Thanks the address you gave me gave me what I needed but still had alot of trouble with the game. Come to find out it was my browser IE8 that was causing all the problem. So I changed to google chrome and loaded the regular version of Flash player and have been able to get on the game. Now i have trouble with my plugins can you send me a link to find Adobe flash player plugin 9.0.124.0?

    Thank you for getting back to me.  I have a table with columns in it and I’m trying to copy just one of the columns, think of it as a stock table you would get in a newspaper and I just want to copy the column that has all the symbols in it.  I use to be able to do this with no problem in previous versions of Adobe Reader by just putting my cursor next to the column I wanted, holding down the Alt key and selecting the data I wanted .  But with the new version that came with my new laptop running Window 8.0 I can not  accomplish this task.  Adobe Reader wants to copy everything in the table.  I would take a screen shot to show you, but when I open Reader, it takes over my entire screen and I can not get back to my task bar or desktop without closing the app.  If you could also tell me how to correct or adjust this annoyance I would appreciate it.   Needless to say I’m not currently a big fan of the new version of Reader.  Is there any way I can go back to a previous version of the product with Windows 8 as my OS?

    All of a sudden, I can't get Adobe Reader to open in the Windows XP environment on my laptop. Message: "Adobe Reader 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close..." [Error Signature: AppName: acrord32.exe AppVer: 8.1.0.137 ModName: mvcr70.dl ModVer: 7.0.9466.0 Offset: 000013d6] Have tried everything I could think of: uninstalling previous versions, reinstalling 8.1 from the website, disabling Norton 360 protection while downloading.     I can't get adobe reader to install onto my new laptop with windows 8. Basically what happens is that I start the download from the adobe screen by clicking the yellow download button, then I click run (I've also tried save and run), then I allow the program to make changes to my hard drive, and then finally a blank grey box appears in the in the middle of the screen, titled "adobe reader installer". After this box appears nothing else happens. I've let it sit for at least 30 minutes and still nothing. I've also disabled my pop up blocker, and set the security settings to default as suggested in other posts. Unfortunately this is the only pdf program that works for the site we have to use to write contracts, so I need to get this figured out asap. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

I tried every thing on Adobe's site to fix the problem with the same results always. I went to Mac's site as well and was told to go to Adobe for a solution. It worked fine since a new Mac in Feb. ,but it will not update now so no Flash Player ay all. Thanks for any help.
