I can't afford an expensive microphone, but I want better quality than internal microphone to record voice. What's out there?

I can't afford an expensive microphone attachment, but I want higher quality to record my voice for eventual radio use. What's out there as far as inexpensive attachments that are easy to use? What can I do using my MacBook Pro?

Not sure what your idea of inexpensive is - have you searched for USB Microphones yet?  There are hundreds of choices under $100 compatible with Mac or Pc.  I'd be cautious and read reviews of the cheaper items as the built-in mic seems to be better than most $20-$30 ones.

    No app is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

Good point BDAqua, the Escape key helps get me back to reality in Lion.
While I've only dabbled around a little in Lion since it's release (I upgraded a 10.6 Clone to Lion on one of my FireWire Drives) now I'm currently downloading Mountain Lion (to upgrade a Clone of that Lion Clone) so that now I can continue to move forward in madness.
P.S. Trust me, I'm not laughing.

My account is in usa but I want to enter an international credit card, but the form does not allow me. How do I have to proceed

    chi45,
You must have your iTunes and App Stores set to the same country that your billing information is based in (i.e.: must use a US credit card in US iTunes and App Stores).
If you move to another country, you need to change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account. Otherwise, your credit card might not work as payment. For example, only German credit cards can be used to buy content from the German iTunes and App stores.
Can't change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store account

  • External microphone for recording voice memos on iPhone?

I have a video iPod and a plug in microphone to record voice memos. It's high quality and I love it. Is there one for the iPhone?

Not that I am aware of.

  • Can I hook up an ipod touch to a tv so I can use facetime across the globe.  I live in Oz my brother lives in UK and I want to buy him an ipod touch so we can have the great facetime chats but I want to do it on the bigscreen.  Is this possible?

I think the title says it all really.  I am looking to buy my brother in the UK an ipod touch so we can have a good chat via facetime as I find it better than Skype BUT I want to have the conversation on the tv rather than all the family trying to cram around an ipod touch or the ipad.  Is there a way of hooking the devices up to the tv so we can acheive this?  It would be great if we could.  I know you can hook up an ipod to the tv to watch films etc if it jailbroken so the technology is there but do Apple utilise it all the way?  If not why not?  I dont want this to turn into a platform for politics please, just after a little help.

Google shows it will works with a 5G iPod touch and with a Apple TV 2. You would use AirPlay mirroring.

  • Facetime between iPad2 and MacBook Air worked fine here in the USA.  The iPad2 is now in Rome, Italy and we can't connect internationally.  We both can hear the caller ringing in, but after accepting the call we cannot connect.  No voice, no video.

I am curious if possibly the hotel has some sort of VOIP block on.  Have you tried Skype?  Did you talk to the hotel staff?  My husband is traveling to Milan in a couple of days and I wonder if he will run into the same issue.  He has had no problems from Istanbul but he is staying in a corporate apartment there.  If you find an answer please post back.  Thanks

  • Connecting Microphone to record voice memos

Recently installed the new software update (3.0) on my iPod Touch. I would like to use the voice memo app that automatically loaded with the update.
I have a Sony Bluetooth stereo head set with built in microphone (DR-BT100CX). I had no trouble pairing the headset with the iPod Touch and it works flawlessly as a head set. (I can listen to music, movies, etc.)
But when I launch the voice memo app and try to record, it tells me there is no microphone connected.
Is there a setting that needs to be tweaked or adjusted that might make this work?
If there is some reason this particular headset with microphone will NOT work with the voice memo app, can someone recommend a headset/microphone that DOES work with the iPod Touch?

Until Apple gets us set up to be able to use BlueTooth Headsets w/mics, I'm using this http://www.switcheasy.com/products/ThumbTacks/ThumbTacks.php To hear the quality of the SwitchEasy Mic click on the orange iLounge logo in the link. It's great and only $12.99!
My complaint is I can't give a title to my Voice Memos on my iPod Touch 2G. Yes…I know I can label the voice memos once they've synced in iTunes, but I'd like the label to be on my iPod, too.

  • How can I get the sound to be of a better quality when I make a video on my iPhone?

I make videos of myself playing the piano. When I play it back I find the quality of the sound on the video is not the best. I edit the video on my MacBook Pro. How can I get a better quality sound on my videos when I do them on my iPhone and edit them on my MacBook Pro?

the iphone is not a good sound recorder so if you whannting to record your self playing you need to consider were the mic is on the phone and how fare it is a way from the piano but if i was you i would record the video and get a mic in the senter of the piano and record both of thoes and the in the mac software sycranize them both to gever to get the best.
i am very good at recording and i am a live sound enginner so if you would like my help with it i can. up to you tho
i have very good knowledge in EQ and compreshon and stuff like that so i can make it sound good for ya

  • I accidentaly started re-downloading and my only option is to pause it, but I want to stop re-downloading it. Any idea what to do?

As the headline says, I accidentaly hit the download-button in appstore and my macbook started re-downloading mountain lion which I've already happily installed. My only option is to pause the download but I want to stop it.
Why would I want to re-download it anyway...

I see, I didn't know you could solve it that way.
I instead went to Launchpad, found the Paused App there, pressed and held it until the option to delete it came up, in the form of a little cross in the corner (the same option that you get when you press and hold an App on iPhone). It wasn't moved to Trash or anything - it just dissapeared at once.
Totally agree on the unnecessary complexity - you should be able to do these kind of things directly from App Store.

  • I came to noticed that my power [on/off] button "sunk" and barely useable anymore. i'm afraid that if the button is useless in few days in the future. it's an old iPhone 4 coz i still can't afford a new one, but can i send it for repair?

  • Is there a way to make keynote "draw" a line over a period of time.  In some cases I can "fake" it using a wipe but if the line double backs on itself, it is not what I would like.  Suggestions?  Enhancement request?

I can fake what I need if the path is something like:
But if the path doubles back on itself, such as:
The wipe does not have the desired effect.  I would think the appropriate name for what I want would be "Draw".  I want the line to be drawn from one end to the other in a specified amount of time.

    create 2 draw shapes showing as a single coloured line;
one that shows the line from the starting point at the left to the furthest point it extends to the right
the second line starts from the end point of line 1 to the furthest  point it extends to the left
add a wipe to line 1, wiping from left to right
add a wipe to line 2, wiping from  right to left,  which automatically builds after build 1, with no delay
when played back it will look like a single wipe

  • HT3529 New 7.0 version update changes the way text messages are presented.  In the new version, I cannot figure out how to delete individual texts.  I can delete entire strings of messages, but I want to delete old texts, but keep the recent texts

The new version of the software for my iPhone 4 changed the way text messages are managed.
I can no longer delete individual texts from a text "conversation."  I also have not figured out how to forward texts, which I was able to do in the prior version.
Anyone know a way to edit out individual messages without losing the entire string?
Anyone know if there is a way to forward messages?

When you have the conversation open, if you tap & hold on a message bubble, you should get a new menu pop-up.  It should have 2 options "Copy" and "More..."  If you select the "More..." option it will then let you select one or more message bubbles and delete the selected ones by hitting the trach can icon in the lower left corner.  As for forwarding, you probably just select the "Copy" option, then paste the contents into a new message...
