I can't compile but everything seems fine
I have NO luck with Xcode. I am using Xcode 4.1 (This also occured in 4.0.2) and I started my project from the normal cocoa app document based template. It compiled fine the first few times but now it won't compile anymore. See the pic below:
It claims im missing a [ is missing at the start of message send expression. But you can clealy tell that its there. So if I click the error and click fix it I get this error:
It makes no sense that there is anything wrong with this code since it was prewritten code and I NEVER touched it. I think this may be a bug but I'm most likey wrong.
No, you changed it. That should read:
self = [super init];

I can log in, but everything seems to be reset to "factory"
I can't seem to find this problem detailed anywhere, so here goes:
My Intel Mac mini running 10.5 froze up tonight, so I had to do a hard shut-down. When it restarted, the machine is in a state that was (is) very bizarre. It recognizes my user name, and I'm shown as the Admin, but the entire thing looks like it's been reset to "factory" conditions. The dock is HUGE, with only the icons that you get from a new account, and any apps I try to run start off with the "license agreement" screen.
In addition, my user folder has a generic blue folder icon, not the normal "home" icon. I can't access anything in Mail because it says the files are all "read-only." It seems as though although I am logged into my account, it has actually created a NEW account with that name, although I can still access all of my documents, etc.
I have Time Machine running -- any ideas on how I can restore back to normalcy using that? Sadly, I also have a Super-Duper backup, but since that's not yet Leopard compatible, it's not going to do me much good! Any advice appreciated!Thanks for the tips. Funny thing is, I restarted several times last night, with the same (not good) results. I did "repair permissions" once, then rebooted, but still no good. I did not however then boot to the install disk and run any utilities from there.
For what it's worth, I have two external FireWire drives connected -- one is dedicated to Time Machine, and the other is for SuperDuper backup/clone. However, since Leopard was installed, I can no longer boot to that drive -- from reading the info on the SuperDuper website, it seems they are feverishly working to get a Leopard-compatible version out there.
Oh, and I also have a portable USB drive that I use to make a clone once a month and take off site. I was thinking that it would quite ironic that with all these backups, I would be in a position where I was not able to restore. Fortunately, it didn't come to that. -
Diameter SCUR rating: "AVP NOT FOUND" error, but everything seems fine.
Good day to all.
We are using a Diameter rating server in order to rate SCUR services. We can successfully rate Diameter IEC and Diameter ECUR services.
We are using Seagull in order to simulate the Mediation chain, since we don't have it. When we run the Diameter executable we got the error:
<942 M V 9999><UsedServiceUnit M <Avps:<CCServiceSpecificUnits M 1>>>>> can not be mapped due to: AVP_NOT_FOUND: AVP path: 437,417.
The UsedServiceUnit and the CCServiceSpecificUnits AVP have been defined in Seagull as follow. Do we have to define those AVPs somewhere else? I googled but I can't find the Diameter error lists.
<define name="Requested-Service-Unit" type="Grouped">
<setfield name="avp-code" value="437"></setfield>
<setfield name="flags" value="64"></setfield>
</define>
<define name="CC-Service-Specific-Units" type="Unsigned64">
<setfield name="avp-code" value="417"></setfield>
<setfield name="flags" value="64"></setfield>
</define>
Best regards,
Matteo.Ciao Leonardo.
We were in the end able to make the IEC and ECUR mode working, but the SCUR mode doesn't work. We can't make the reservation.
Is there any other particular AVP value that we have to set? According to the Diameter specification, the following ones guide the SCUR mode:
CC-Request-Type (Code: 416) = 1 (INITIAL_REQUEST), 2 (UPDATE_REQUEST) or 3 (TERMINATION_REQUEST)
· CC-Request-Number (Code: 415) = identifier of the request within the session
Best regards,
Matteo. -
please help!
Are you using iPhoto '11 on a Mac?
Try to print your Card (using the main menu bar "File > Print" or save the printed version to pdf.
Then you can check, which text still is default. The default text will be missing from your print - see for example the screenshot below. Also you can check the measurements on your printed copy. In the print menu you can use the arrow buttons to step through the pages of your card.

Mail is set up and I can send e mails but since 1st of June I cannot receive, I have tried connection doctor everything seems fine, any ideas?
There are two entirely different paths involved here; SMTP for send and either POP or IMAP receive. Check your receive path. Confirm username, password and the POP or IMAP server identity. Also check directly with your mail provider, and ensure the POP or IMAP server is functioning and online, and the provider hasn't changed their particular POP or IMAP configuration requirements.

I get this message...but everything seems to be fine with the graphics hardware....help!?
The message is referring to 3D features which are not supported by cards with less than 512 MB of vRam.
Try Restore Preferences:
Windows - CTRL-SHIFT-ALT immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
Macintosh - CMD-SHIFT-OPTION immediately after you double-click the PS icon.

A few days ago, my HP printer software updated automatically, everything seemed fine (Mac is running Maverick, my laptop is Snow Leopard). Out of the blue yesterday, my printer stopped printing (neither Mac can connect), I have tried everything. Both the suggestion from HP and Apple, it's making me crazy I've spent most of time trying to fix it.
You tried exactly what ?
I most of the time would start with the same Apple Printer Support page tech articles
OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Lion systems will have the necessary printing software already installed, or will automatically download and install software when the printer is connected or configured. Do not install software that came with the printer as it may be out of date, and do not connect the printer to your Mac yet. Follow the instructions that came with the printer to unpack, install ink or toner, and insert paper. Finally, use the instructions in this article to connect the printer to your Mac.
Make sure the printer model is listed in Printer and scanner software, which is a comprehensive list of all printer models that have compatible software for OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Lion.
How to add a printer
Start a print job on the Mac and manage its options
Generate and manage PDFs
Manage the printer queue and printer dock icon
Share the printer queue
Mac OS Printing/Fax (any version), OS X Lion, OS X Mountain Lion
http://www.apple.com/support/osx/
printing in OS X Mountain Lion
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670
Try to delete the print queue under Print & Fax / Print & Scan then manually add a print queue.
Steps here: http://bit.ly/TdUuHL
If it doesn't work, reset the printing system:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341
then add another print queue manually. -
I have a Macbook and I left it unplugged. It started up slowly when I plugged it in again, but it seemed fine. Once it started charging I shut it down so it would be easier, but now it will not go past the grey screen with the apple. What do I do?
I have Snow leopard on my computer, and I tried to do a hard restart as an article suggested, but it did not work. I also tried cleaning out the PRAM.
The only things I did last night:
-cleaned the history of Firefox out, including cookies
-let it unplugged all night
-plugged it back in the morning, it took a long time to figure itself out, but eventually the time was correct and I got on the internet for a bit
-shutdown the computer since I was going out and thought it would help the computer charge
-came back, tried to turn it on, and found that it would not go past the grey screen the apple on it and the spinning wheel even though I left it for 20 minutes or more
-tried turning it off and on to no availBefore doing a reinstall, which may not be needed at this point,
Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Repair reports and if DU was able to repair them. This could just be a start in repairs and you may need a better utility to finish the job.
Then Repair Permissions.
No need to report any Permissions errors........we all get them.

Everything seemed to work fine after moving everything over from my old MacBook Pro at first but I cannot run Outlook 2011 for Mac. The logo displays briefly and then the app closes. It never really even gets anything loaded other than the little logo.
Try removing and reinstalling Outlook
Next try posting in a more appropriate forum. this is the iPod touch forum -
HI,
first of all: I'm relatively new to LabWindows, working on it during some practical work as a Student
(yeah, and sorry for the bad english, I'm from Germany)
To the Problem:
The first important Information:
After having searched for a solution, I just don't know, what to do,
My Project consists of ONE Main.uir-File with a Tab, a "Main.c" that basically handles the main .uir-Stuff and some Initiating-Stuff and in addition to that Several Sub-Sourc-Files, one for each Tab-Panel of the Main.uir-Tab.
To use the UI-Items on the Main-Tab with the Sub-Sources, I am initiating Tab-Handles at startup, that can be used by the SubSource-Files, like:
GetPanelHandleFromTabPage (PANEL, PANEL_TAB, 2, &BALU);
With this Handle, I can identify every UI-Items, when working with the SubSources
The second important information:
In some of the TabPages of the .uir there are several ControlArrays. To use them I create a ControlArrayHandle, like:
MWSAverageHandle = GetCtrlArrayFromResourceID (BALU, MWSAverageArray);
No, I am able to identify specific elements of the Arrays, like:
SetCtrlVal (BALU, GetCtrlArrayItem (MWSProgressHandle, ActiveBalun), ProgressString);
Now there is a Problem, I am not able to solve:
During runtime, everything works out fine, I can use every element of a ControlArray with this ControlArrayHandle ("MWSProgressHandle"), everything works perfect, no errors at all. BUT, when closing the programm, I get the following error-message:
NON-FATAL RUN-TIME ERROR: "Baluns.c", line 313, col 16, thread id 0x00000AB8:
Library function error (return value == -4 [0xfffffffc]). Panel, menu bar, or control array handle is invalid
But this seems somehow ridiulous to me, because at runtime every single line works perfect, every Array-Item can be used without Problems...
Is there anything I am just not able to see???
Thanks a lot for your help.
Greeting from Lübeck, Germany!
Mathias
Solved!
Go to Solution.Maybe I just figured something out:
First of all, most of the Functions, that cause the Error, are in Timer-Callbacks (at this state of development, ALL of them)
So I just added a Test-Function in a normal Button-Callback, which contains a "GetCtrlArrayItem"-Function, and this specific Line does NOT cause an Error... (Or at least it does not occur in the Error-List, when clicking "continue" in debugging-mode). Somehow the Timer-Callbacks seem to be called, when closing the Application...
BUT: this happens when I don't do anything in the Application, and the all Timers are Disabled, until some Buttons are pushed (so when I close the application right after opening it, they still should be disabled)
@ Wolfgang:
After discarding I do not want to use one of the handles, or at least I'm not doing that purposely
@ Roberto:
Actually I am only discaring the MainPanel-Handle in the Main.uir (and one other Panel, but the error occurred before implementing that other panel). Do all Handles (PanelHandles as well as ControlArrayHandles, TabPageHandles and so on) need to be discarded?
And no, I did not check the Variable Window, I was not aware of this possibility, I will try to figure that out. -
[SOLVED] Failure when loading modules, but everything works fine
I've updated Linux from 2.6 to 3.0, everything seems to be working as before, but I'm getting this when booting:
Loading modules [FAIL]
I don't see anything relevant in dmesg output, everything seems to be loaded fine. Is anybody else getting the same error since the kernel update?
Last edited by Camus (2011-08-08 14:07:56)What's strange is that Tp smapi's functionality seems to be there anyway... It's a module for battery control in Thinkpads and my battery indeed doesn't charge beyond 80%, the way I want it to be.
I'm having the same issue. I think you will find that the "functionality" isn't provided, as you said, /sys/devices/platform/smapi doesn't exist, and that your battery is actually remembering the last charge limits you sent to it. Try to remove the battery and put it back, I'm nearly sure that it'll lose them. This is what happens to me on my second battery, the ultra-bay one, which I occasionally have to remove to insert my CD drive.
No idea why tp_smapi doesn't load when put in MODULES in rc.conf, but workarounds should be easy. Alternatively, if you only use it to update your charge settings, you can just manually load it each time you need to.
EDIT :
Have just found out that by manually adding thinkpad_ec before tp_smapi in MODULES in rc.conf, everything loads. Strange, since thinkpad_ec should be loaded automatically with tp_smapi. But hey, it works.

Last edited by franco (2009-01-27 06:30:15)You should read through this wiki carefully: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Net … figuration
To begin with you need to preface all interfaces that are to be available to network manager with "!" in the INTERFACES array or rc.conf (that will disable them for Arch init scripts, so that network manager can have free access to them). You also need to remove the "network" daemon from the DAEMONS array. There might be something else that I've missed as well...
Welcome to Arch! -
i have most of my shareable music in the cloud. I try to clean out the downloaded music on my iPad to clean up storage. i used to be able to delete local copied music easily but somehow in ios 8 or so, I lost the ability to delete albums. I read the support suggestion that I should re download this music so I then can delete it. This seems so silly I can't imagine that this was Apple's intention. Anybody got a clue?

Macbook says "service battery" but battery seems fine.
I've had my macbook pro for 5 years .For the last 2 years it says "service battery," but the battery seems fine to me. With the screen dimmed, airport turned off, and using only MS word, it goes for about 100 minutes. Is there any risk involved with not getting the battery replaced? Also, Will the battery begin to decline exponentially?
Thanks!This is from Finder Help:

My apple TV will no longer download movies. It says to go to the Apple Store and check purchase history. Everything seems to be in order. Any idea what I am looking for?
Okay - let's cut to the chase...
If the Menu Bar (File, Edit... Help) shown in my screenshot below is not visible, use CTRL+B to display it. Then click on Help/Check for Updates. If one is available, you will be able to select it at this time.
Note the item at the bottom of the list; About iTunes. Selecting that will show you which version of iTunes you are using.
An alternative method to display the Menu Bar is click on the box in the top left of your iTunes window...
