I can't compile fuction (table or view doesb't exist)

Hi
I have strange problem.
I wanted create simple function
My steps:
1. Connect as HAM (HAM user has DBA role)
2. I successfully created table:
CREATE TABLE ham_adm_user
(id NUMBER(16,0) NOT NULL,
uzytkownik VARCHAR2(50),
aktywny_od DATE,
aktywny_do DATE,
mail VARCHAR2(128),
imie VARCHAR2(64),
nazwisko VARCHAR2(64),
id_rola NUMBER(1,0))
3. I would like create function
CREATE OR REPLACE
FUNCTION fun_user_id
(param1 in VARCHAR2)
return NUMBER
IS
idx number;
begin
BEGIN
SELECT id into idx FROM HAM_ADM_USERS WHERE upper(uzytkownik) = upper(param1);
RETURN idx ;
END;
end;
13:27:34 [8:34] PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
13:27:34 [8:5] PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
4. I succesed launch SQL command
SELECT * from HAM_ADM_USERS
Hmmmmm do you have any hints, mayby I forgot about something ??

in the create table you use ham_adm_user in the function you use ham_adm_users
so they are different

  • Compile error "table or view does not exist"

    When I run the following code, I get a compile error:
    Error(5,33): PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    I can run the select statement by itself as an SQL query, so why does this not work in PL/SQL?
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    PROCEDURE PREPTEST AS
    BEGIN
        FOR rec IN (SELECT rep_id FROM diag.diag_rep )
        LOOP
          DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(' record ID is ' || rec.rep_id);
        END LOOP;
    END;

    Within SQL the permissions can be taken from the Role that the user has.
    Within PL/SQL permissions are not taken from Roles and have to be explicitly granted to the user.
    GRANT the appropriate permissions to the user and the PL/SQL code will work.

  • Can't get Sequencing working (table or view does not exist...)

    Hello,
    I'm running JDeveloper 10.1.2 on a Oracle 9i database.
    All my mappings are correct, i mean, i can query the database using the Toplink API and list all the objects on teh database. What it's not working is inserting new objects due to this sequencing problem.
    This is what i'm doing:
    myClass newObject = (myClass) uow.newInstance(myClass.class);
    uow.assignSequenceNumber(newObject);
    But this is generating this Exception:
    Local Exception Stack: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (OracleAS TopLink - 10g (9.0.4.5) (Build 040930)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.DatabaseExceptionException Description: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    Error Code: 942
    I figured this could be a problem with the sequencing configuration and all that stuff (I don't have a sequence table). So i checked my configurations...
    'Toplink Mappings' is setup to 'Use Native Sequencing', as per Notes on http://www.boku.ac.at/oradoc/ias/10g(9.0.4)/web.904/b10313/dataaccs.htm. This page also states this:
    "When using native sequencing with Oracle, specify the name of the sequence object (the object that generates the sequence numbers) for each descriptor. The sequence preallocation size must also match the increment on the sequence object" (...) "Use preallocation and native sequencing for Oracle databases.
    And this is exactly what i'm doing. On myClass mappings, the 'Use Sequencing' checkbox is checked, the correct sequence name is typed correctly, once this is the same sequence i've been using for years prior to Toplink, the selected table is the correct one, just as the id field on the table.
    Another thing is that the 'Preallocation Size' on Toplink Mappings match the increment value on the database sequence.
    I must be missing something...
    Can anybody shed some light on this?
    Thanks a lot to all.

    Hello
    The method accessing check box tells TopLink to use the get/set methods on your object to set its attributes - If it is unselected, TopLink will set the attribute directly. Great if you have business logic in your get/set methods that you don't want TopLink to hit each time it creates an object after a read from the database (or registers, etc).
    The problem you are encountering seems like you have sequencing set to "Use Default Sequencing Table". This option is on the "TopLink Mappings" page on the "Database info" tab just below where you would have set which connection to use. You will need to ensure you have the "use Native sequencing" selected. If you set this information instead through code, be sure you do it on the database login before you login to the session.
    If this doesn't help, try turning on TopLink logging to see the SQL statement that causes the problem. The knowing the table name and SQL being used might help figure out where it is being set.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • Error(20,22): PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

    I am getting currently getting an error when I try and insert into a table from a different schema from my Stored Procedure:
    Error(20,22): PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    I am explicitly calling the table with the schema name infront i.e.
    INSERT INTO SAPSR3.ZTREC_NAME_TYPE
    MASTER_ID,
    NAME_TYPE,
    FAMILY_NAME,
    FIRST_NAME,
    MIDDLE_NAME,
    TITLE
    VALUES
    In_MasterID,
    In_NameType,
    In_FamilyName,
    In_FirstName,
    In_MiddleName,
    In_Title
    I only get this error when I try and compile my stored procedure. If I try this insert not within a stored procedure (i.e. a blank script) it works perfectly.
    Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    It sounds like you (the procedure owner) have privileges on that table only through a role.
    Roles don't count in stored procedures created with AUTHID OWNER (which is the default).
    Either
    (1) Have user SAPSR3 grant the necessary privileges directly to you (or to PUBLIC), or
    (2) change the procedure so that it runs with the caller's privileges, by adding AUTHID CURRENT_USER after the argument list but before the keyword IS (os AS) like this:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE     foo
    (     x     IN     NUMBER
    AUTHID CURRENT_USER
    IS ...

  • Error while deploy mapping ora-06550 table or view does not exist

    Hi everyone,
    i have a target source 'U_BCK' that cointains some Oracle table.
    I have also created a target schema 'BCK_OWNER' where i create some dimensions and cubes with mappings.
    My mappings connect some table from U_BCK with dimension or cube from BCK_OWNER.
    My repository owner is called 'rep_owner' and i used this user to create every metadata.
    Now i'm trying to deploy, and i don't have any problem until deploying mappings. When i try to deploy mappings i get some errors like ora-06550,ora-00942 table or view does not exist and statement ignored.
    Please help me and sorry for my english...
    Thanks,
    Alex.

    The mapping, that drives the data from one table to another is deployed to the database as a PL/SQL package. When deploying your mapping fails, it most often means that the resulting PL/SQL package doesn't compile in the database.
    Using Oracle SQL Developer (or Toad, SQL Navigator or any other tool) connect to the schema on the database where you have deployed the mapping. Open the pl/sql package and compile it. That should show you the place where the compilation fails, and give you an idea as to what table it can not find. Otherwise, in SQLPLUS, you can simply give the following command:
    ALTER PACKAGE THE_PACKAGE_NAME_GOES_HERE compile body;
    show errors;
    As the database user who owns the source tables, make sure to issue a GRANT command for each of the source tables, granting SELECT access to the database user who owns the mapping:
    grant select on TABLENAME to TARGETSCHEMA.
    hope this helps

  • ORA-00942: the table or view does not exist

    Hello!!!!
    I have tree simple mappings each one with only one dimention and sometimes external or normal tables. One of them is ok but I can´t deploy the others.
    In Controle Center I have this messege: the table or view does not exist.
    I genereted both queries and run in SQL navigator with the same message.
    I realized that I can set the schema properties for external tables but I couldn´t do the same for Dimension (or I don´t know where I can do this).
    I believe that I have to set this propertie for dimension to have my mapping running ok, but I realized that the only one mapping that is ok does not have this propertie set.
    Where is the problem?!!?!?!?
    I validated these mapping and they have warnnings about column length, no errors.
    In the previous OWB version I used to set this propertie, but in 10.2 I don´t know if is realy necessary.

    Try to open the package body with a tool like TOAD and try to compile it. When you use TOAD the process stops where the error is. Then you know which table or view doesn't exist for the OWB. If the table or view does exist then it is almost certainly a missing privilege that prevents you from succesfully deploying your mapping. If the table or view does not exist then you've got to deploy the underlying (bound) table.

    Jörg

  • Table or view does not exist when using in PL/SQL block

    I hav something strange...
    When i execute a query it works just fine... When i use the exact same query in a function i want to create, i get the error 'table or view does not exist'
    I create the function with the same user then when i'm executing the query.
    For example:
    select name,userid from portal.WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS
    if i execute this... it works fine. I get my results.
    However when i create a function:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION EBUSINESS.GET_USER_CREATOR (p_userid IN Varchar2) return VARCHAR2
    as
    /*CURSOR c_user_creator IS
    select distinct name,userid from portal.WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS
    where sub_domain = 'user' and action = 'create'
    and name = p_userid;*/
    v_creator varchar2(500);
    v_ret_val VARCHAR2(500) := 'NOT_FOUND';
    BEGIN
    select userid into v_ret_val from portal.WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS
    where sub_domain = 'user' and action = 'create'
    and name = p_userid;
    --v_ret_val := x.userid;
    --end loop;
    -- Is the user in the group or not?
    /*OPEN c_user_creator;
    FETCH c_user_creator INTO v_creator;
    IF c_user_creator%FOUND THEN
    v_ret_val := v_creator;
    ELSE
    v_ret_val := 'NOT FOUND';
    END IF;
    CLOSE c_user_creator;*/
    Return v_ret_val;
    END;
    The table or view does not exist...
    I tryed with cursor, select into, for x in (select....)
    Nothing works.
    A select grant is a select grant right? Are there different grant you should use so you can select it into a function or just do a normal select?
    I also tryed to create a view that just sais select * from WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS but that doesn't work...

    Are there different grant you should use so you can
    select it into a function or just do a normal select? Yes. Grants on objects used in functions/procedures must be given directly to the user, and not through a role.

    Hi,
    I think you are executing the select statement for schema X and the table is in the schema srnr.
    And schema X is not having select privilege on the table 'students' present in schema srnr.
    Goto schema srnr.
    Execute the following statement:
    grant select on students to X;
    This will give schema X the privilege to query the table students present in srnr.

  • A newbie problem - Why 'ORA-00942: table or view does not exist'

    Hi,
    I am a newbie having a very basic problem.
    I have just created a table by reading in a CSV file.
    However when I try to SELECT from it, I get an error message saying :-
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    How can this be when I can see the table name ?
    I have tried a couple of things that I found in the Discussion Forum, like 'ALTER SCHEMA' and 'GRANT SELECT'.
    Neither seemed sensible because I have just created a table, and sure enough, neither helped.
    It's disappointing that something so basic can go wrong.
    I will be very grateful for any advice.
    Barry

    This tool and forum is awesome. I'm a developer that was never touched HTMLDB and now with in a month I'm developing applications quickly and when I have a question I have this active forum to ask my sometimes stupid and othertimes valid questions! This is great! I don't know where you all find the time to help out so much!
    It is a little addicting though... I find myself sitting down Saturday morning just to spend a couple of minutes reading the posts and next thing I know hours have gone by as I use what I read because I can't wait until Monday...
    Thank you all for everything!!!! HTMLDB, APEX, Javascript and now in another post I'm learning about "Fine Grained Access Control" or "Virtual Private Database".

  • Scheduling error causing - ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

    Hello
    I have the following problem, I created an scenario that its supposed to run every 1 hour, it has an interface that moves an amount of records from one table to another (the amount of records is not fixed it changes). The problem arises when the amount of data to move is so big that the hour between executions is not enough and the scenario is still running when a second execution of the same scenario starts to run (as scheduled), so in the interface when the second process is trying to run the loading step it fails and I got the error ODI-1228 Caused By: java.sql.BatchUpdateException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exists. So the scenario fails and it logs this error. I think the error is due to the table in stage being locked by the first execution of the scenario.
    I don't want to change the amount of time between executions because it is usually enough, I just want to avoid the execution of a scenario when there is another execution of the same scenario still running, is there any way to do this?.
    Thanks
    LJ

    Hello
    Thanks for your answer, I already have the "Interval between repetitions" property set to 1 hour, but when one execution takes more than one hour the scheduler starts another and I have 2 processes accessing the same table and it is when I have a concurrence error on the staging table.
    How can I ensure that I wont have two or more executions of the same scenario running at the same time?.
    Thanks,
    LJ
