I can't reorder app tabs by dragging

created 5 app tabs. when i drag to reorder the tabs, it shows the placement marker (icon that looks like a blue pin) but the location never changes. im guessing this is a bug.

  • How can I move App Tabs to the bottom, where the other bookmark toolbars are? Or, how can I put my bookmark toolbars in two rows and forget the App Tabs?

I have several bookmarks on my toolbar, and my most often used ended up in a pull-down menu, which is annoying. I tried to click and drag them onto the menu bar, because there was room for more icons, but they won't budge. Nothing under "Toolbars" was helpful. Help would tell me to right click on my toolbar and then click on "Customize"...which didn't come up as an option. I would really like all my toolbar bookmarks (I only have about 10) to be visible on the actual toolbar, not hidden away in a small pulldown tab.
There is a plug-in that enables you to put bookmarks in two rows on your toolbars, but it is not compatible with my version of FF (7.0.1).
App Tabs are cute, but I don't like them on top where they take up room where I have the tabs for various websites open (I usually have several open at a time). App Tabs are fixed and don't scroll over like website tabs, which is extremely annoying, and hence why I 1)would like to move them to the bottom of the toolbar or 2)be able to display all my bookmarked toolbars --which is what I prefer.
    BTW, I have Windows 7.
Thanks in advance for your help.

App tabs are special tabs and are always displayed at the left end of the tab bar.
You can place all bookmarks that you want to see on the Bookmarks Toolbar in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.<br />
You can do that in the side bar or the Bookmarks manager if you can't do it on the Bookmarks Toolbar.<br />
Most Visited is a special (smart) folder that shows websites that you've visited and that aren't necessarily bookmarks, so you can't drag them on the bookmarks toolbar unless you first bookmark them. You can do that by opening them in a tab and clicking the star on the location bar twice and choose the Bookmarks Toolbar as the destination folder.

  • How can I set app tabs to open to the default page on startup?

If I use an App Tab and click on a link from that tab, then exit and open Firefox, it opens up the website I was on when I closed Firefox the last time as the App Tab. For example, If I have Google as an app tab, make a search, click on a new website, and exit Firefox, the same website from before will load in my App tab instead of Google. When I open Firefox, I want my app tabs to open to their default pages, not the pages I was surfing from those tabs when I closed Firefox.

App Tabs are not protected against changing the URL by opening a link in that same tab and Firefox doesn't keep a record of the original URL.<br />
You can middle click a link to open the link in a new tab if you do not want the tab changing the URL.
You can lock the tab with the Tab Mix Plus extension.

  • How can I get App Tabs to automatically load a fresh version of the page every time I click on them?

I like the app tab feature and am using it for sites that I visit frequently, for example, weather sites. The problem I have is that when I click on say http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/ta/arbroath_forecast_weather.html I get the site as it was the last time I used it. Today this meant I got a weather forecast starting from 2 days ago, not from today.
I can get round this if I remember to "Reload" every time but I'm guessing that is not the way app tabs were intended to work.

One of these two add-ons should do that:

  • Just got new FF version - can't get app tabs to work

I'm on a Mac and can't get the app tab function to work. I promise I read through all of the instructions; just still won't give me the pin option when I do control click.

Does the context menu open if you control click on a tab on the Tab bar?

  • How can I set "App Tabs" to open automaticaly, when FF starts?

I know how to open more than 1 tab on FF startup. Is there any possibility to open these tabs a "pinned App tabs"?

You can only open tabs as App Tabs if they are closed as such in the previous session.

  • I can't creat App Tabs

Just upgraded to the latest version of firefox for mac, and was reading about the new feature--App Tabs. I wanted to create one, and the directions say control-click the tab you'd like to convert, but the option to convert to app tab is not in the menu. I've tried other modifiers like command-click, etc. but nothing seems to get me to the option described in firefox's directions.

regarding App Builder, this has been discussed many times on this forum: see https://forums.adobe.com/message/6693717#6693717 for example.
Make sure you clear your browser cache before attempting your next download. You can also try deleting your existing App Builder from the Applications folder before you download ...

  • How can I retain App Tab's if Firefox is set to clear history on close?

I like the new App Tab feature, but I also like the idea of clearing my browsing history when Firefox closes.
Is there any way to have the browsing history cleared, but retain the App Tabs?

This addon is the fix you need:

  • Can't create app tab groups in FF5 groups window dosen't appear

when I click the tab groups arrow on the upper right of the page the group window opens but all the tiny icons are in a vertical line on the right side of the window and when I try to drag one in to the center either the cursor turns into a move window and moves the whole window or when I click on the icon it takes me to that page. I have read ALL the instructions AND watched the video and what happens in that video DOES NOT happen on my screen. I can't find any helpful info

Solution clear all tabs. Then right click on individual bookmarks or bookmark folders and select open in new tab or open. They will all appear at top of screen. Then click on arrow as before and choose tab groups . They are all in one box you then move them out of box and put like with like. I have created 3 groups.
You can create as many as you like .
When you wish to open that group click on the arrow and then choose tab groups,at that point all of your groups appear choose the one you require click on that group .
Only the sights in that group appear on the tab bar. I trust this is helpful it worked for me.

  • How i can i prevent Apps from being dragged out from dock?

Before Mavericks i once applied some switch via command line that prevented removing Applications via dragging out.
But this way it still allowed changing the order or still allowed remvoing via right-click menu.
Sadly i cannot find the command anymore and all solutions i found after googling use the immutable boolean which results in a completely statically locked Dock. But this is not what i'm looking for.
How can i specifically disable the drag-out removal of Apps from the Dock?
    Thanks!

You can't. You can only "hide" them.

  • Why can't i access the apps in the apps tab

I connected the itouch 4g to itunes.  I can access the Apps tab but all items on the tab are grayed out so i cannot select or deselect apps.  How can i correct this?

If you've forgotten the passcode. you will have to restore the iPod through iTunes.  Be sure to set up as New and not from backup.

  • Firefox no longer automatically opens app tabs when I start it, how do I fix this?

Previously when I had an app tab open and closed firefox it would be opened with my home page next time, I just activated firefox sync and this no longer happens.

A good reason to not count on app-tabs as always being restored. Put your app-tabs into a bookmark folder so you can open them into tabs when you need to recreate them.
See if you can get your app-tabs back via History > Restore Previous Session, then after that
History > Restore previous Windows and then maybe restore previous tabs.
I don't use sync and have no idea if it is involved in your problem. I do periodically close all of my tabs, close and restart Firefox, and then reconstruct my app-tabs by opening a folder into tabs. I had to number the titles in the folder so that the tabs would be in the order that I want them to be in as I do use the "Sort Places" extension to sort my bookmarks into alphabetical order.

  • How do I make an app-tab if "pin as app tab" does not appear when i contol-click an existing tab?

When I control-click my existing tabs to create an app tab nothing giving me the option to create an app tab appears. It only says "reload tabs," "new tab," "new bookmark," and other general menu options. I want to know how to create an app tab if this is happening or if there is something I am not doing that I should be in order for it to work.

You can't make App Tabs in Firefox 3.6.x versions.<br />
You need to update to the latest Firefox 5.0.1 version to get App tabs.

  • Why is 'bookmark all tabs' disabled when multiple pinned app tabs are open?

I have 6 or so tabs open as 'App tabs', and no normal tabs.
I was expecting to be able to 'bookmark all tabs' so I can open my app tab configuration next time I start Firefox.
But the 'Bookmark all tabs' menu item is disabled.

It would still be nice to bookmark all open App Tabs. I use one window for App Tabs and others for random browsing. If for some reason I accidentally close the App Tabs window before I close the others, I have to manually re-establish the App Tabs window because it doesn't restore them.

  • Setting up app tabs on my Mac

How do I set up app tabs on my Mac?

    Hi [email protected]
You can set up app tabs using the Right click menu. Each tab that you have open in your browser can be pinned as an App tab. Just right click over any tab you want to save as an App tab, right click and the option should display as 'Pin as App Tab'. Hope that helps.
