I can't save photos from mail to desktop or iPhoto all of a sudden! 10.8.5

I have an iMac, OS 10.8.5.  Up until a few months ago I was able to save photo email attachments to iPhoto or my dekstop with no issues but now I can not.  I try to drag photo attachments to either place, it it doesn't work. I try to right click for options, nothing.  I'm really not sure what the problem is but it is very frustrating!

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

How do I save a photo from Mail to my camera roll? Before iOS7 I would tap on the photo and get the option save it. Now all i get is a copy or select all option.

Found the answer to my question. Now you have to press down on the photo until the save option appears.

I have real a lot of posts that say to click Command+Option while opening iPhoto and this will open the Photo Library Repair window, but... this is not happening.
Be sure you're holding the correct keys and that you're holding them long enough. Depress them before clicking on iPhoto and don't let go until the menu shows up.
If you don't want to lose those photos, make a back up now. Hopefully it's not too late.

  • HT201317 Can I save photos from folders on my laptop to iCloud?

Does anyone know if I can save photos from folders on my laptop to iCloud?

iCloud is used to copy photos between devices, not as a storage system.  If you are looking for a place to store photos, use the laptop, buy an external hard drive if space is becoming an issue.  If you want to sync photos to your devices, then use photo stream or connect via USB cable to itunes....

  • I can't save photos from text messages and cannot access keyboard

does anyone know why i can't save pictures from text messages received and why i am unable to access my keyboard to type out messages?

When you press and hold on the picture...it does not give you an option to save the image?  Also for the keyboard issue...go into settings/application manager(it may also say apps/manage apps).  At the top scroll over and select all.  Scroll down and find messaging and tap on it.  If you have an option to clear data and force stop then select them(it wont delete anything).  Once done go back in the list and see if you also have anything that says keyboard or android keyboard and do the clear data/force stop on that also.

  • Can I delete photos from my SD card in iPhoto?

I love iPhoto but i can't get one thing figured out. I want to delete photos from my SD card within iPhoto. I don't want to have to import things before deleting them. I don't like deleting them as I import because I worry about losing the pictures. So I like to import, back up on CD, and would then (and only then!) like to delete the ones I have imported & backed up from the camera.
I know I can do this manually in Finder but I would prefer to do it in iPhoto because it's easier, plus that way I can see which photos I'm deleting. I'm sure there is a way but it won't let me drag the photos to the trash.
I'm frustrated and I hope someone can help! Thanks in advance.

Aloha, I have found the easiest way to do what you are after is to set up Image Capture (located in your applications folder) to open when a camera/card is connected. You then have the option to view the photos, delete any you don't want and import them to iPhoto, or your desktop. I have a specific folder named downloaded pics which I send them to. You also have the option for Image Capture to erase card when finished importing. It is an extra step, but I have found it very helpful for not wasting space and not importing everything only to have to delete photos later. Hope this helps. JB

  • When I save photo from mail to iPhoto - are there two copies?

If your concerned about space then yes, I woudl recommend doing that.

  • TS4435 Cannot save photos from Mail to iPhoto!

We have been UNABLE to save photos for FIVE months and have asked Apple Staff anf Joint Venture for help.
ONLY NOW we find out that Apple KNOWS about this and refuses to repair it!
I am sorry, but this is NOT the Apple we knew under Steve!!!

This problem is an OS problem not an iPhoto one, so it will take an OS update to fix it, not an iPhoto one.
10.8.2 is the current version of the Operating System. I got it from Software Update, like everyone else does.

  • Cannot save photos from Mail, faded iPhoto icon?

    Hi,
Stumped again, I have been emailed 11 photos as an attachment in my Mail application. I want to place the photos into iPhoto, logically click SAVE and hold and then SAVE ALL....the next window opens and looking at PICTURES, the iPhoto Library is faded out, not allowing for saving.
Seems I have missed something, previous to iPhoto '08 this was not an issue in my memory.
    Solutions?
    Cheers, SZ

It works for me so there's gotta be some glitch in your library or application. Run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can I save photos from iPad that I edited to my main computer?

If I edit pictures on iPad can I then get them back in the edited for to my main computer. Their seems to be lots of photo apps but don't want the final pics just for my ipad would also want them in my main computer.

you need to verify that the app saves a copy back to the photos library. If it does (as a drawing app for my 4 y/o sone does), you can then open that pic back up after importing from ipad to your chosen photo program.

  • How can i save photo from Facebook page?why i can't watch any videos from Facebook in this browser? please help me..

    HI,
Did you ever figure out how to get them back? The same thing happened to me yesterday. • How can I save photos and free up space in iPhoto?

I have a hard drive that used to be used on a PC. It's format is MS-DOS (FAT32). I've been using it for the past year with my Mac with no issue (moving files onto it and off of it).
I have over 30,000 photos in iPhoto now and am noticing that it's quite slow and often gets the 'rainbow spinning wheel'.
I want to move most of my photos over to the hard drive, but I still want to be able to access them.
    1. Do I need to reformat the hard drive?
    2. Where do I locate the iPhoto files on the mac?
    Thanks in advance!!

    1. Yes you do, and you do it with Disk Utility. There are lots of videos and posts on this online. For instance:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8te1bg07MsQ
Remember that formating a drive will erase it so make sure you back it up forst.
    2. One you're sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Can't delete photos from iPhone 5 because their iPhoto library no longer exists

I have a good deal of photos, on my iPhone 5, that were synced via iPhoto. The problem is, the iPhoto library, they were synched with, no longer exists becuse, the hard drive that held them, crashed. I replaced the hard drive but, of course, when iPhoto is launched, there are no albums to un-select or delete and I'm stuck with not being able to delete them directly from the iPhone.
Short of erasing the iPhone, is there a way to delete these "lost in limbo" photos?
    Thanks!
    Teddy Alfrey

    sberman,
Your first suggestion would be a good one; however, I don't have a backup of my iPhoto library. I'm using a MacBook Air with a very small hard drive and stored, nearly, everything on externals. That is, everything but whatever drives my iPhoto library. Since the only thing I use iPhoto for is syncing photos with my iOS devices, I wasn't particularly concerned with backing it up. I wasn't aware that these photos would be impossible to delete, otherwise.
Moving forward, I will look into externally storing my iPhoto "stuff."
I find myself wondering why the photos are locked down, to this degree.
    Thanks for responding sberman!
