I can't see my iphone 5 on itunes ver 11.0.4, windows 8 64 bit

I am using windows 8, 64 bit and alsong I installed itunes version 11.0.4, I gues this is the latest one. But when I try to run my itunes i cant find my iphone, and when I try to click on File the Devices, the SYNC is grayed...
Can anybody help please....

Help! I have tried everything listed on here! As far as I can tell, it is just an issue with my laptop - it worked on my brothers itunes but obviously all of my music, photos etc are on my laptop! Any ideas on how to fix the problem? I followed all the troubleshooting things apple suggest online, but I've had no success so I have no idea what else I can try!

  • How can I sync my iPod Classic with iTunes 11.1.4 and Windows 7 64-bit?

After assistance from ‘b Noir’ (and losing--then finally regaining--my DVD/CD reader in the process), I finally installed the iTunes Version 11.1.4 update on my Windows 7 64-bit PC.  So I am again able to import music from CDs, play music on my PC with iTunes, and burn CDs as I could do with previous iTunes versions.  Then, however, I purchased some new music and tried to sync iTunes with my iPod Classic for the first time since the update to 11.1.4.  So far, I have been spectacularly unsuccessful.  Can anyone help me?
With previous iTunes versions, sync was automatic when I connected iPod to a USB port.  Now when I connect iPod Classic to PC's USB port (I've tried two different ports), iPod’s screen says “Connecting” but iTunes doesn’t open.  And while iPod is connected to the USB port, I can't open iTunes by right-clicking its icon and selecting “Open.”   (ITunes, however, always opens OK if iPod is NOT connected).  With the iPod connected to a PC's USB port, I opened Windows 7 “Devices and Printers.”  Devices shown included both (a) the “Apple iPod USB Device” and (b) “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.”  I right-clicked each of these device icons in turn and selected “troubleshoot.”  Both times, the report was “Troubleshooting couldn’t identify the problem.”
I am also unable to properly “eject” the iPod.  I tried ejecting (a) from the Windows taskbar's Notification Area, (b) from Windows “Devices and Printers” and (c) by right clicking the iTunes icon and selecting “Eject.”  Nothing worked, so I reluctantly pulled the cable out of the iPod without ejecting.  That causes a yellow triangle with an exclamation point to appear in “Devices and Printers” for my PC—which disappears after shutting down and rebooting the PC.
If I start iTunes and THEN connect the iPod Classic to the USB port, iTunes does nothing and almost instantly freezes (shows as “not responding” in Windows Task Manager and I have to close it via Task Manager).
Suggestions, please, on what I need to do?  My iPod Classic continues to work just fine, but I can't put any of my newly purchased music on it and I guess it will become an expensive paperweight if the battery happens to run down.  If nothing else, is there an old version of iTunes I can download somewhere that likely will work with the iPod Classic and my PC setup? Thanks so much!

    Hi turingtest2,
Thanks so much for your response--yes, I've seen the TS1363 document.
I was able to open iTunes, start the iPod Diagnostic Device Connectivity Test, and connect the iPod when prompted to do so.  The only problem reported by the diagnostic program was "No iPod, iPhone or iPad found." So it does seem as if the TS1363 document should apply.  But I have tried connecting the iPod after executing each of Steps 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 shown there and nothing has worked so far.  Details follow:
--Went through the iPod Classic troubleshooting assistant--except I did not "reset" the iPod (because having all my "old" music available on the iPod has value to me).
    --Restarted iPod Service.
    --Restarted Apple Mobile Device Service.
--Verified that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.  There is no down arrow or question mark or other indication of problem with it.
--Tried two different USB ports (I assume that is what is meant by "change your iPod's drive letter"?).
    --Temporarily disabled Norton Antivirus.
For some reason, there are 368 files and 60 folders in the Temp folder under my user name, and it looks like at least some are "read-only."  Windows wouldn't let me delete or move the folder, even after I turned off Norton AntiVirus and closed the programs in the "Notification Area" that I could figure out how to close.
I'm very reluctant to get into messing with Config files or registry keys.  And I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes 11.4.1 so many times.  I'm not sure what to do but am considering uninstalling all of the Apple products (again) and try installing an older version of iTunes.  Or maybe I should try to install iTunes 11.4.1 on our Windows 8 laptop and see if the iPod will connect to that (although I really need to be able to sync to my desktop PC).  Probably won't have time to do either for a few days--too many other things to do.  But please let me know if there's something more that's relatively simple and low-risk I could try.  Thanks again!

  • Can't see my iPhone/iPad in iTunes

    Hi everyone,
I have two problems - possibly related - not sure.
First, for a long while now, every time I launch iTunes I get the following error:
"The registry settings used by iTunes driver for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
Now I haven't installed CD burning software and I don't really use iTunes for that, so I just sort of let it go.
Recently, though, I have found that iTunes no longer recognises my iPhone (or iPad, come to that). I've tried reading a number of posts on this. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes. I tried uninstalling and importing back my library and reinstalling. I've tried restarting the iphone. I've tried deleting the iPhone from device manager and allow it to load up again.
All, with the same two issues. The registry error and the no show on iTunes.
Sidenote: I read one post that suggested I add an upper filter to a particular registry entry. I backed up my registry first (of course) and then tried it. I did solve the registry error, but it also created a driver error on my DVD Rom. So I removed the upper filter and I was back to square one.
Any other suggestions? I haven't done a reset of the iphone yet. I'd like that to be my last option, since I have so many apps on both the phone and the ipad that organising them all into folders on the device is painfull and takes forever. (Even through iTunes this is painful. Any software out there that will do the job quickly?")
Thanks in advance for any advice you might swing my way.

    Please help!

  • Can't see old iPhone 4 in iTunes to back up my new/refurbished iPhone4

Just got a refurbished iPhone 4 to replace my old iPhone 4 (which I synced to my mac earlier today). Now I want to restore my refurbished iPhone 4 from bacj up of my old iPhone 4 but don't see it in my iTunes. Any solutions? My itunes/iOS software is up to date

    Just to confirm:
When you go to iTunes --> Preferences --> Devices, do you see the old iPhone 4 backup there?  I think you're saying it is not there.
If that's true, had you been backing up your old iPhone 4 to iCloud?  If so, you will have to restore from there.  You would reset your refurbished iPhone to erase its settings and information, then sign into iCloud and choose Restore from a Backup in the Setup Assistant.

  • I can't see my iPhone 4 on iTunes 10.4

I feel a bit silly asking such a basic question. Here's the skinny:
    - when I plug the iPhone in to my Macbook (pretty old, 2007 model, but I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard) the iPhone makes the noise and starts charging
    - yesterday I followed some Apple help page which recommended deleting iTunes, and some AppleMobile device-type system file, restarting, reinstalling iTunes. I did all that and it worked. Now today it doesn't again! Obviously I would rather not have to do that everything I want to update my songs!
    - I haven't installed/uninstalled anything on my Macbook since yesterday when it was working.
    Please help, thanks!

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

  • Itunes can't see my iphone

Itunes can not see my iphone under the devices.  Recently used Windows Parallel on my Mac but made sure to de-select the USB in the parallels application and clicked associate this device with Mac OS and not the windows os.  I have tried un-installing iTunes, reinstalled with most recent edition.  Recycled the iphone on / off.  Removed the iphone from the docking cradle to direct connection with iphone to usb and no hubs, cradles etc.... in between iphone and computer without any success.  I know the mac and itunes are working correctly because it syncs my ipad, wife's iphone 3gs and kids ipod touch without any trouble.  I looked in the hardware listing in the system preferences and the usb lists my iphone as attached.  With the iphone 4 plugged in I rebooted my mac hoping it would auto open itunes and auto sync but no luck.

    Hello Barbara4090,
When the iPhone unmounts from iTunes during the backup phase, it can be due to some unreadable data on the iPhone that iTunes cannot deal with. It could be data saved by a third party APP on the iPhone, but there's no easy way to determine the what data may be causing the issue.
First try resetting the iPhone by holding down the sleep/power button and home button until you see the Apple logo (ignore the "Slide to Power Off" prompt).
Connect to iTunes and Sync to test.
Next would be to determine whether the issue is actually with the iPhone or the MacBook Air.
You mentioned that you also use an iMac.
If the iMac is running at least 10.4.11 and has a current installation of iTunes 8.0.2 on it, you can use the iMac to isolate the source of the issue.
If you have essentially the same information on both computers, you can do this test in the existing user on the iMac.
If you'd prefer not to intermingle any data from the iPhone you can create a new User on the iMac and test:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3309
Before connecting the iPhone to the iMac, put a check in the "Disable Automatic Syncing for iPods and iPhones" in the Devices section of iTunes Preferences.
Connect the iPhone and then right-click or control-click on the iPhone under Devices and choose "Backup."
If the iPhone cannot be backed up on the second computer, then it is due to some unusable data on the iPhone that cannot be backed up.
After the test, you can delete the new User if you created one.
If that is the case, then you may need to restore the iPhone and choose the option to restore from a previous backup at the end of the restore process:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
I would do this on the computer that you normally sync the iPhone with.
If, on the other hand, the iMac can backup the iPhone successfully, then there is possibly an issue with the MacBook Air or it's software:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224
    Hope that helps,
    Charles H.
