I can't seem to set up a second email account with Mail. Help...and thanks!

I'm having an impossible time setting up a second email account on Mail. Seemed as though it would be simple but after I've done all the basics, it sets up the account on MobileMe instead of iCloud and there it stops. Can't send or receive messages. I'm lost! Advice?

I do have an iCloud account and have since October. I am trying to set up a second email address. Perhaps I'm asking Mail to do more than it's equipped to do.
I have set up an alias with the new email address through my existing iCloud account. However, when I test sending and receiving, the emails to and from the new address are in the same list as my regular Mail. Not sure this helps with my desire to separate the two! Perhaps I'm still doing something wrong.

Assuming that in this day and age you want security.
Setting up a new email account on mail, the password is entered for connecting to the in & outgoing servers before SSL is set. Before you can set SSL, mail connects to the servers so email password is transmitted unencrypted?
This seems a very obvious quirk/bug and something that I have always felt uncomfortable about.
Anyone else think this is not a good thing?

Actually it look like all apple devices have the same mail setup procedure, so are your email passwords all being sent over the network in plain text before you get the chance to set the SSL option?

You need to ask your mail provider for the setup info. Usually it can be found on ther website in their help pages or the like for most email providers.
If its a known service like hotmail, or gmail, there are preset options for those that fill in the required server info.
If its a corporate email, the IT department should have this information.

I've already set up email on my iPhone using one of the listed online service providers that I have an account with. Now, I'd like to see if I can set up another email account to retrieve and send messages using imap through my isp's email server. Is this possible or do I need to download a special app to do this?
If not and I'm only limited to one provider, is there a way to change my email to use a different provider? I may want to use an email account that is provided through my isp instead of the account that I have with an online email provider.

This should work for you:
Open up Settings and click *Mail, Contacts, Calendars...* There should be an "Add Account" option. From there, all you should have to do is enter in the information and you should be set.

YEs, you can have multiple E-Mail addresses. Just add the additional accounts through the Settings -> Mail, Contacts & Calendars.
If you also change the mail settings "Show To/CC Label" to ON you can change the sending E-Mail server. You can also set the default account in there also, one more section down in the same E-Mail Settings section.

Help! I didn't think I was a Luddite but I'm starting to doubt myself.
I am having problems setting up my non-BT POP email accounts on both our Mac and PC. I have entered 'mail.btinternet.com' (and user/password) in the outgoing SMTP, sucessfully verified accounts (after receiving error 553 on PC but not Mac), spoken to technical 'help' (who didn't, and pointed me back to our ISP). All to no avail. Up until 2 hours ago, these accounts were working with O2.
Can anyone please help me with where I am going wrong?

Can I assume that you're receiving emails ok ?
Are you getting any specific error messages on sending emails ? What mail client are you using in the PC (e.g. Thunderbird, Outlook etc).
The BT verify instructions have missing bits for mail client programs. Take a look at my shortcuts, option 0e (actually written well before the BT version) and see if there is anything that you may need to do extra.
One of the main items is putting the btinternet email address in the smtp settings.
The helpdesk, as you have found out, are frankly particularly useless with regard to this "stuff".

I am struggling setting up an exchange account on Mail as the details is correct but the only thing that I don't know is the Server Address!! I've tried too many such: exchange.livemail.co.uk, mail.com , etc and never worked

Entourage Email - I have taken over someone else job so have her email account with all folders and past emails and have also added my own email account. How can I sync the folders- as I need to be able to see them on my iphone but its under her 'account'

I have taken over someone else job so have two email accounts on my Entourage - as the past account had all the folders and past emails when I sync my mail onto my iphone I can not see the folders and any past emails. How can I sync all of her old mail account info (emails and folders) to my email account to make ONE email account?!

How do you set up a Yahoo eMail account with all of the folders on an iPad 1st generation?

I setup my account using the Mail settings. I can retrieve my eMail, but I don't have any of the folders that I have on Yahoo. Also, when I delete an eMail it does not delete on the server (they reappear when I check mail again).
Any suggestions?

Since email account mailboxes and messages are not included with the iPhone's backup, restoring an iPhone with iTunes if wanted or needed will result in any user created mailboxes and the messages being lost in the process. Just as messages in a POP account's Sent mailbox are lost when restoring an iPhone with iTunes.
No such concern with server stored mailboxes with an Exchange or IMAP account.
A POP account is from the early dark ages of email account access with an email client on a computer when the overwhelming majority had access to a single computer only - before there were laptops and long before there were smart phones.

I have set up iMessage and FaceTime and tried to set up for a friend but won't work? The apple ID is ok as downloading Apps but when I try to set up iMessage it won't go to the next stage as it says the EMail can't be verified? Either though we know its working

Can't seem to properly lock a box in place with a stroke and transparent fill (problem when trying to duplicate other elements)

Hey guys! So quick rundown: I'm an Art Director in advertising and sometimes I need to mockup banner ads. Most of them require a 1PX border all around, so I need to create a box with no fill but with a 1PX stroke and keep that as the top most layer. What ends up happening though, even if that layer is locked, if I try to duplicate another layer via "ALT + drag", it will duplicate the top most layer which is this 1PX border.
Mind you, I have Auto-Select set to Layer, and I can work around this by turning off the 1PX border, or using "CMD + J". However, sometimes I might forget to turn it back on, so would wanna find a proper fix for this issue, and "CMD + J" is just not as comfortable as "ALT + drag" with a Wacom tablet.
Any ideas on what can be done? I'm assuming PS sees even the transparent section of that box as a clickable object since it's technically covering the entire size of the canvas, but logically I would love for it to ignore the transparent fill.

To log into your account on your phone : Settings > iTunes & App Store
