I cant get imessage to activate

hi everyone i have looked through thread after thread yet not one answer has helped me activate my imessage i have turned the phone off reset the phone changed my apple id and still nothing it was working fine on the 3gs i had but since i got the iphone 4 a few days ago its just not working at all
i even contacted my carrier (o2) and they where unable to help so i am stuck

I have had that problem since last week Wednesday, it would say "waiting for activation" for hours and then would fail... so I thought I will share what worked for me... After going through the forums for days and trying everything I could to get my iMessage to activate on my mobile number, I restored it twice, hard reset, toggled all possible options and nothing worked... I was eventually convinced that it must be an Apple server problem.
Last night I logged out of my Apple ID on the phone, I switched off iMessage, I switched Cellular Data off and put my phone on Airplane mode (which is all a kind of combination I read in the forums). I went to sleep, this morning I switched Airplane mode off, switched Cellular Data back on, left it for about an hour and then turned my iMessage on, it activated almost instantaneously.
Whether there was a server problem which was coincidentally fixed before I turned my iMessage back on this morning, I don't know... but hopefully this will work for you!

I restored from a backup and cannot get iMessage to activate. I just keep getting a message awaiting activation. Are you using a supported carrier? Do you have a plan that permits text messaging?
The iPhone uses a 'silent' SMS message exchange with Apple's servers in the UK to activate. If you are not using a supported carrier, and/or your account is not provisioned properly for an iPhone, the activation may not be able to complete.

Ever since I updated to iOS 5 I've had this problem with iMessage as well as Facetime, I can't get it to activate. I've tried rebooting the phone, logging off my account, reseting network settings and It wont activate at all ..

If you do it in that order and allow it to activate over 3G, it works without fail. I have done this twice to make sure and it works and doesn't work when done over 3G and WiFi respectively. Once it has been activated, it works perfectly on both.

Can't get iMessage to activate after resetting my Apple ID password.

After having trouble signing into iMessage on Mountain Lion on my Mac Mini, it was suggested to reset my Apple ID password. After doing that, I re-entered my password everywhere on my iPhone. But now, my iMessage and Facetime on the phone won't activate. It stays on "Waiting for Activation" for about half a day and then says that activation was not successful.
I went through all the other related threads, and check Settings > Phone to make sure my number is showing, I fiddled with the Date and Time settings. I even updated to iOS 6.0.1. Nothing seems to work, and I genuinely don't want to reset my phone. Is there any way to resolve this issue?

I deactivated iMessage on my mac completely and retried and still have the same problem. I then decided to place the phone in DFU mode and restore iOS 6.0.1 from the IPSW. After restoring from iCloud, iMessage is still stuck on "Waiting for Activation"
I did find something interesting though. I opened Xcode > Organizer and viewed the phone's console. When switching iMessage on, the following is displayed in the log:

I want to get my spouses imessages sent to my email. I would go under settings/messages/send/receive/add new email/add the new email.
I should get immessages she sends and receives at this email now correct?
I tried a test run on my own phone by creating a new apple id and adding it to my send and receive but I am not getting any of my imessages there. whats wrong?

Using macbook cant get imessages on iphone

im playing a game on my macbook pro and imessage on my mac is receving all my messages from my girlfriend so i cant play the game and imessage her off my iphone because the messags are going to my computer

The screen "Create Apple ID" is for users without an Apple ID (or someone who has forgotten their password). Since you do not want to create a new Apple ID, you are on the wrong screen.
Go back to the Sign-In screen and then sign-in with your Apple ID (or start over). The sign-in screen will have both fields to input: Apple ID and then Password. The Password screen may be a secondary screen after you input ID and hit Enter.
Hopefully, your further forays into the Land of iPad will not be as disconcerting as your beginning. I was also new to Apple (three years ago with the first iPad). It was a bit aggravating at first, however, now we own multiple Apple computers, peripherals and IOS devices (iPads,iPhone,Apple TV) and really appreciate the functionality and usability.

Okay, you're on a popular network. (Some prepaid providers have issues)
I'm on 3 Austria, iMessage is working fine here, so you may want to talk to 3 for any tips.
Have you tested to see if FaceTime is working? If it is, try re-activating iMessage.

After updating to iOS 6.0 everything is a mess. i cant get in my CO app game, imessages undelivered, worst of all i cant connect to Apps store. If u were able to solve this pls let me know. or if possible to return to old OS 5.1 that is much better. HELP!

I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S. Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.

I recently moved back to Australia for school from Canada and signed up for the new iphone 6 plus. After using icloud to save and backup from my previous iphone 4s, all of the apps eventually worked....except for whatsapp. After looking through my phone and numerous chat forums, it appears that my imessage and facetime are stuck in, "waiting for activation".....is anyone else having problems with this?
I am curious as I am unable to receive the whatsapp code to re-activate my application. This brings me to my second question, is this an iphone/apple problem or a whatsapp third party problem?
I've had friends send imessages to me and they appear to coming through. I have already rebooted and restarted my phone numerous time. A strong connection to wifi and data stream have all come in loud and clear.
I have tried all of the directions that were posted and still have no whatsapp and imessage still inconsistent.
