I cracked my iPod touch screen and I want to know if Apple will fix the screen or just swap my ipod for a different one?

I cracked my iPod screen today, and I want to get it fixed, but I don't know if the Apple store will do it for free. I've only had it for 6 months and I'm worried that it's going to cost me more money to fix it then if I got a new iPod. It's an iPod touch 4th generation 16GB. If anyone knows the approximate price to fix it, i'd appreciate it!

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

- Another USB port
- Reboot the computer
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

I am planning a long vacation and taking my laptop but it is my home computer that my new ipad and ipod touch are synced too. I know i can backup to the cloud over wifi but how can i do things like delete photo albums

I am planning a long vacation and taking my laptop but it is my home computer that my new ipad and ipod touch are synced too. I know i can backup to the cloud over wifi but how can i do things like delete photo albums instead of having to manually delete pictures one by one on the Ipad. Is there any way also to add my pictures to the ipad other than through email. i am assuming that i can't just install itunes on the laptop and sync to that. I have been told that i always have to sync to my original synced home computer for that.

You will need to Restore it as a New Device...

1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

If any of you are like me, I had one single AppleID under MobileMe. Under my AppleID I had two additional Email addresses, one for my wife and one for her Mother. Each used their individual email accounts on their login on the home Mac and on their individual Iphones.
In order for them to not lose their email acounts when mobileMe goes away and/or you move your appleID acount from MobileMe to iCloud, you simply need to beaware of the folowing. Have each person with an email address under your AppleID MobileMe go to www.me.com; enter their email account and password in the corresponding fields. However, don't press the login button. Instead press the sentence under the login fields that says something to the effect of "do you want to move/migrate to iCloud. Follow the prompts from there.
In essence what Apple has done--albeit not communicated anywhere--is that they automatically created AppleIDs for each of those additonal email addresses you have/had under MobileMe. Therefore, use that email and password after moving from MobileMe to iCloud and your good to go.

I added the song "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" by Boston by going to the iTunes Music Store and purchasing it as a ringtone. If you do it from your computer you have to sync it to your iPod Touch. Then in the alam sounds panel there is a place for "purchased" Your song should appear there.

You can usually find the wi-fi password on your router itself if you know the router's ID and password (not the wi-fi password). You can log into your router by putting its address (usually 192.168.1.1) into your browser's address window.

Hey Hallmarie, leave it turned off, do not attempt to charge or use. Place it in a sealed back of uncooked rice for at least 7 days, change the rice ever couple of days and hope for the best. After it has dried attempt to turn your iPod on. You may need to charge for 30 minutes, keep a close eye on it during this charge, if you hear noises, crackling, popping or hissing, or something smells like burning rubber or plastic, or you see smoke or it get very hot, unplug your iPod ASAP! and do not use; all signs your fried it. You may need to Reset or Restore or use DFU recovery mode to get it work, and when your all done this iPod may never work again. But for a couple of bucks worth of rice... worth a try. If you do get it to work the first thing you want to do is make a full set of backups, no telling how long it will work. Hope this helps, but be prepared to buy an out of warranty replacement. No, sorry. It's Only for the 5 gen. But you can always trade in your old iPod Touch into apple and use that money towards the new iPod Touch
