I created a measure in Measure catalogue

I created a measure called "PBT" in measure catalogue. That measure becomes automatically visible in 0measure characteristic.
But in BPS planning level "PBT" is not visible against 0Measure. What could be the reason?
Someone please explain.

I read that sometimes there are problems with replication between Measure catalogue and BW ... try this, wjen you are creating the measure go to Utilities ---> BW Master Data --> Measure: Update Bw Master Data; put your measure in the screen and Execute without the check in "Test Run", and try again in BPS level.

Prerequisites
Before create calculated measure using AMO, you need to ensure that the following components were installed in your server.
The multidimensional database AdventureWorks Multidimensional Model 2012
A SQL Server with SSIS and SSAS installed
The AMO libraries installed:
X86 Package (SQL_AS_AMO.msi)
X64 Package (SQL_AS_AMO.msi)
Solution
Here is the detail steps to create calculated measure using AMO in SSAS.
Open SSDT and create a new SSIS project.
Drag Script Task to the design surface.
Click SSIS-> Variables to open the Variables window and add two variables that used to connect to the server and database.
Create a connection to connect to SSAS server.
Rename the connection name to ssas.
Double click the Script Task to open Script Task Editor.
Add Connection and Database variables to ReadWriteVariables textbox and then click Edit Script button.
Add AMO reference in the Solution Explore window.
Copy the script below and paste it into the script.

Cannot create "Digital" measuring points on Work Manager 6.0

Hi All,
I am attempting to create "digital" i.e. Pass/Fail measuring points in Work Manager 6.0. I can enter readings as shown below but when I execute a sync, the error message below is shown:
I can use the same measuring point in SAP via IK11 as shown below to create a measuring document using valuation code only. However, the Work Manager requires a numeric characteristic to be added and the "no reading" checkbox to be ticked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried setting it up with just the two values (0-fail and 1-Pass) and I'm still running into errors. If you could take a look I'd be grateful.

IK11 allows just the valuation code to be used:
On the device:
As far as I can see this should work but it still creates the same error as previously. Ideally it should work as IK11 and allow the user to select from multiple valuation codes but it appears to still require a characteristic.
One option I tried is to assign a characteristic in addition to the the valuation code and use a 0 reading. This works but is a "workaround" solution in comparison to IK11.
Any help would be really appreciated.

How to create a measure for COUNT and compare year-to-date/last year?

Hello expert,
I have gone through the Oracle by example tutorial for creating the repository. However, I can't find out how to create a measure to display the COUNT (sequence ID). I tried the Aggregation function on the sequence ID on the Fact table but the report on Answer listed out all the sequence IDs in the database. And did not give me the count of the transaction for the period quarter. If I used the sequence ID on Dim table, the SQL failed.
And also I want to have two counts, one is for the count of transactions by quarter. Another is for count of transaction for the same period quarter.

If you use count (or count distinct ) as the aggregation rule in the dropdown in the repository column, it should work. Or you can post the generated logical and physical sql here.

SSAS - Creating a Measure For Defects Per Unit

Hello, everyone
I'm attempting to create a Defect Per Unit calculation. I have an odd situation where my source data is recording all of instances of a given Defect (the single defect is recorded in multiple locations, DimLocation). So I'm receiving many rows that I need
to represent as a single defect.
How can I create a measure that will properly count each defect (DimDefect) only once-per-unit? Can I do this without creating a separate fact table and measure group that removes DimLocation? (The location is needed for some other measures but this one
won't use it. My goal is to simplify the cube structure for the user.)
I'm pretty new to MDX so if there is any other information I can provide, I would appreciate it.

You can also do the same by using the concept of Semi-Additive Measures or the other turn around you can think of is (SUM of DefectMeasure) / (Count of Defects) ... The only problem with the second approach is you will get a Total of the same which sums
everything and deletes that with the count.. My possible suggestion would be go with Semi - Additive Measure (Last Non Empty / First Non Empty such)... I didn't do this same this MDX way, but I am sure that would be possible too.

Todate Function error on creating YTD measure

I'm trying to create YTD measure using TODATE funtion and and I'm getting the error : To use TODATE function storage level of the query must be static level.
Please help me to know what I might have done wrong and how to correct it.

According to your description, you want to select data between first day of this year and last day of previous month. If that is the case, we can achieve your goal by two ways:
• Adding where statement to the query without using parameter like below:
where column_name between DATEADD(yy, DATEDIFF(yy,0,getdate()), 0) and dateadd(ms,-3,DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm,0,getdate()), 0))
• Adding two parameters named StartDate and EndDate by following steps:
1. In Dataset Properties dialog box, in Query text box, add where statement like below, then the parameters will be created automatically
where column_name between @StartDate and @EndDate
2. In Design surface, expand Parameter node. Right-click @StartDate and open Parameter Properties dialog box.
3. In Data Type drop down list, select Date/Time.
4. In left pane, click Default Values, then select Specify Values.
5. Click (fx) button, in Expression text box, type the following expression, then click OK to save the options.
=DateSerial(YEAR(Today()),1,1)
6. Right click @Enddate and set Data Type to Date/Time as step3.
7. Repeat the options of step4 and 5 above, and type the expression like below, then click OK.
=DateAdd("d",-(Day(today())), Today())

WEBI - unverses: create rolling measures

i'm working with webi on olap universes on bex queries.
i need to create a rolling measure that, for every year/month, aggregates the current month and the previous 11 (every month contain the values of an year).
i used this code creating a new object in universe:

2)Create a table in which for each month in the range (in rows), the following 12 months of forecast are displayed (in columns)
As far as I know EXITs based on input from user are still not supported.
Probably it is not the classic rolling forecast scenario, but this is why I told "It depends on complexity of report".
>> EXIT Variables with Input are supported. the part that is not supported in XI 3.1 is the fact that the default value is set in the prompting dialog but the user will receive the values.
To me the scenario clearly requires an EXIT variable as otherwise you can not leverage the system date from the BW system and you are back to having to ask for 2 dates as a date range.
if you want to create 12 keyfigures or 1 - that depends to some degree on what the report is supposed to look like and what the user is supposed to be able to do with the data.

How to create count() measure for certain set of records in BMM Layer

I have a logical table like this one (Table AAA)

I need to calculate count() of records where Key is not NULL. In this example, this field must return coun() = 2.
I suppose, CASE operator may help me with that, but I do not know for sure how to do this.

But I must concretise my issue.
I need to calculate number of records (e.g. order_id) that sutisfy appropriate condition (one of columns (e.g. loy_member_id) is set to null).
I created logical column, that returns order_id if condition (loy_member_id is null) is met.
Look at my logical column:
Q Orders (LPM) - must return number of orders where loyalty_member_id is null.
It has an expression:
CASE WHEN NOT "Foxtrot (my) replica"."Sales Orders".LOY_MEMBER_ID IS NULL THEN "Foxtrot (my) replica"."Sales Orders".ORDER_ID ELSE NULL END
So, this returns order_id I need.
But the question is how to count number of order_id's returned by this column on BMM Layer.
When I define my column with next expression:

I receive error:

Creating Essbase measure hierarchy in OBIEE

Hi All,
I have imported Essbase cube(11.1.2) to OBIEE 11.1.1.7 .
In RPD i have clicked on "convert measure dimension to flat measures" in physical layer.
Now measures are showing up as
                                              Meas1
                                              Meas2
                                              Meas3
                                              Meas4
But i want meas2,meas3,meas4 to be child of Meas1 and Meas1 is "level only" .
How to achive this in obiee?

I have a situation like this below. A service request may have activity subtype as breakfix, startup etc. A service request may have only one breakfix or breakfix with additional subtypes like startup etc.
Ex:
Service Request # Activity subtype 2nd subtype

3 breakfix none
4 breakfix startup
5 breakfix startup
How do i write a case statement to find out only breakfix as subtype (2) and nbr of service requst with breakfix and other type as 5.
Please guide me how to write.

What is the use of creating a detail object on a measure.

In BI 4.X business layer, we can create a detail object of a dimension and as well as measure.
Can you please let me know what could be the use of the detail object of a measure object?
In the business layer, it is showing like this...

Dimensions have attributes, we create those attributes as details objects.
when we want to see the different grains of the measure in one report. we will use these details objects.
Example:
1. Query 1 returns country, sales revenue
2. Query 2 Returns Country,State,Sales revenue.
But in the report if we want to show the State wise Revenue. It is not possible bcz both the quires are returning different grain.
state object is incompatible object, so you can't drag the object into report.
in this scenario we will merge the Country dimension , create the state object as details with merged dimension, then you can drag the state details detail object.
this will give expected results Country and State wise revenue.
Normally Dimensions and details objects will drives the measures values in report.
So, Detail object on measure not helpful in case of relational database(Please correct me if i am wrong). It is useful only for OLAP database because when I have created a webi report on top of BEx query then it is automatically created a detail object on measure object.
As far I know, 'Measure attribute' introduced for OLAP based business layer. which can provides information for the formatted value like unit, currency or value.
For example:-
Amount is key figure in BEx query and when I have created Webi report on top of that then it will create three object.
1. Amount as meausre.
->2. Amount currency(detail).
->3. Amount formatted value(detail).
Below is the output after running the report.
Amount || Amount currency || Amount formatted value
30 || $ || 30.00
8 || $ || 8.00
I have found one difference, We can't implement the index awareness on detail object which we have created on measure object although we can implement the index awareness on detail object which we have created on top dimension object.
But Still I am looking for good example of Detail object on measure object..

Then I create a cube with use compression off, and in rules sum for example.
After, I create a measure and I select Override the aggregation specification for the cube, in rules I put nonadditive and I would like to create aprogram to assign distinct values to each level of the dimension. According to your description, you get an empty Measure Group Columns list when defining relationship. Right?
Based on your screenshot, you may notice that Measure group table is empty, so definitely it can't show any column in the dropdown list. If there's columns in the measure group that are related to the dimension columns, at least it will show the fact
table for Measure group.
In this scenario, please check if the fact table for the Measure group is existing. Re-process the Measure group and try again. If the issue persists, please re-create that measure group.

Creating a TEXT calculated measure

Is it possible to create a calculated measure of data type TEXT using AWM ?
I want to do the equivalent of defining an OLAP DML formula which returns a text value, but I want to be able to store the formula in the OLAP metadata.
I'm familiar with creating "dummy" calculated measures in AWM, saving to an XML template file, then editting the XML and reimporting, to define more complex calculated measures than the AWM wizard provides for, but I still haven't been able to successfully create a calculated measure which returns TEXT.
I've tried changing the XML from DataType="Decimal" to DataType="Text", but there are other sections in the XML such as:
CalcStep StepClass='oracle.dss.selection.calcStep.SimpleMathCalcStep
and:
CalcValue DataType='java.lang.Double'
which I think are also having an impact.
Any examples would be much appreciated.

I have succesfully created text-valued measures with the AWM graphical interface. You need to make sure when you define the data cube that it does not have the "compressed" option checked, then you will get TEXT as one of the choices of data when you create a measure.
