I deleted the creative cloud and cs6 applications from my mac. Adobe said they were still installed, so i tried the uninstallers but they no longer worked, so i deleted them. Creative cloud now still says that they are all installed even though i do not have any installed...

Uninstall PS CC using its native uninstaller from Control Panel > Program & Features and install it using the Creative Cloud desktop app.

I have a backup from about 4-5 months ago available on an external hdd as a time machine backup. Can I add/update contacts from the back up rather than restore? The reason i wish to do this is because in the update i didnt lose any messages, so all of the people i have met and networked with since that last update those many months ago, i have in my messages listings. They are all unidentified numbers at present but over time i will be able to work through the messages and based on the conversation recall who each was with. Also, yesterday, some two weeks after the update had left my contacts list entirely empty... a vast majority just reappeard, though all of them are without any phone numbers, all just emails or facebook contacts. This is the work of facebook not mac/ios6 isnt it...? Any help here would be greatly apprecaited. I am about 2 days from flying to canada and having those contacts would make life a lot easier.

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

It may depend on the plugin that is loaded into your browser. However, right click on a PDF and select the Open With option and go to the default button to select Acrobat as the default. That might do it.

Depending on exactly what you want to do, there are a couple of ways of handling this. You may want to access teh user guide for some ideas: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/ipad_user_guide.pdf
In particular, check the sections on Customizing iPad and Settings > Restrictions.

ITunes is writing new songs to the download folder rather than the Music folder

I recently added a NAS (Synology) to my home network. The transfer of libraries was simple and fast.
The problem now though is that when i buy a new song in iTunes it writes it to the download folder rather than music folder with .tmp tag.
Any ideas how to fix t?

Have you tried deleting the App within the Settings menu (rather than from the Home Screen)?

From the Apps list, find the App (press "Show all Apps" if the app is not in the immediately shown list), tap on the app you wish to delete, then tap "Delete App"

To elaborate, if I have a 3 minute track of raw audio and I edit out the middle 30 seconds of it I am left with two tracks with a "30 second" area that has no file. To join them manually I can click and drag one portion of the audio until I match it with the other section but instead, is there a shortcut or function that I could select that automatically marries up the cut portions of the track, thereby eliminating the 30 second gap?

Yes: hold the control key while deleting (or select "delete and move" from the Edit menu.)

3) You need to get PS CC installed on my new production box on its “D” drive before I will agree to anything except the above. Lightroom CC 2014 installed just fine. There is no excuse for a product like PS to fail on extraction prior to install!

You and your tech support was worthless in suggesting they wanted to CLEAN my ENTIRE box of ALL ADOBE products. The LEGACY Apps WORK, they are PAID FOR, and thousands of dollars of After Effects, Premiere, and medical scientific plugins for Photoshop would be invalid and not useful without the legacy installed products. I sure as hell am NOT upgrading to CC for my production bundles after the way you have treated me and many of my clients now. Instead we are pursuing alternative solutions that are not adobe.

How do I change or delete the Adobe Digital ereader licenses?

My HP laptop and Acer Iconia tablet are getting error messages. Laptops says that the license isn't assigned to the user, the Iconia says the time settings are incorrect.
When I downloaded the books from the library to the laptop it worked fine the first time. Then I tried to USB the book to the Acer. Acer didn't show up in ADE. I next tried using the library menu in the top left side area with the "authorize device". Upon authorizing the device in an attempt to get the Acer to show up, now the laptop can't open books and the message says it isn't assigned to user. And the Acer still doesn't show.
The only books that will download are the Guttenberg project free books. Can't open any library books from Overdrive.com.
Been to the library and they're trying to get help, but it's been over a week. I'm thinking if I can delete the license and then
redo it for both devices that might solve the problem.

You seem to have more than one problem. First, the Iconia time, date and
time zone should be reset to your current location. That's the easy one.
At the same time, you should check the HP and make sure that its time, date
and time zone are also correct - just because....
There's a layer of technology that covers the use of ebooks and ereaders.

New Document button to create/open document in Office Web Apps rather than through Template.doc in client's MS Word

Greetings all,
We have a particular campus with exceptionally limited access on their machines -- essentially, they can browse the web (access our Intranet) but not write information to drives or update their MS Word to read the new DocX format (or install plugins, etc,
to do so).
The new Web Apps seems to provide some potential for alleviating their issue -- but ideally, they would be able to originate (create) new documents right in Sharepoint by clicking on New -> Document and having the new document open in Office Web Apps
rather than downloading / creating through Template.Doc (standard method in Sharepoint).
Any ideas about how to make this kind of functionality happen?

When you mention "web apps" I assume you're referring to the new "Office web apps" in SharePoint 2010, so I'm not sure why this question is in a pre-sharepoint 2010 forum... My answer entails how to go about doing this in 2010 only.
In the document library's settings, go to advanced settings, and choose for the files to be forced to be opened in the browser, instead of the client software.
By default, you're only going to have a new word document for your "new" button. You'll need to create content types for all the other document types you want them to be able to create. So create a blank spreadsheet, and save it on your desktop,
and create a blank powerpoint too.
Then create new content types at the top level of the site collection. One called Excel Template, and one called PowerPoint template. For each content type, click on the advanced settings and upload that blank file that you created.
In your document library, go to the library's advanced settings and change "allow mgmt of content types" to YES. Then, in the content types section add those 2 new content types you created.
Now, when people click the "new" drop-down, they will have choices of a word document, excel and powerpoint, and they will open in the browser.

I can't upgrade apps unless I delete the old app

Since upgrading to Yosemite I am not able to just download updates. I have to download the upgrade then delete the old app and then go to finder an install the dmg. Just happened with the latest Evernote update and with iBank update. Any suggestions to remedy?

I see something like this with apps that are installed by dragging them from a disk image in to the Applications folder, for example Firefox. If this is done original in one user account e.g. Fred, and then you try and 'upgrade' it in a second user account e.g. Bill, then because the item is 'owned' by Fred the other user Bill does not have permission to do this.
Other than modifying the permissions which I would not advise the quickest solution is to as you are doing trash the item and recopy it.
