I Don't Want Shuffle Erased when connecting to second computer
i just want to charge my shuffle on my laptop which doesn't have my music library on it. so it erases shuffle songs. anyway to bypass this so it won't erase?

Yes ... when it comes up and asks whether you want to use this Library instead of your old one, just answer "No". It unmounts and will continue charging.

I have a website through iweb that I don't want to keep active anymore, but I also don't want to erase it completely. Is there an "archive" option, or some way to save it?
There's no archive but you can just delete the online files from the server and keep the site in iWeb. When you want to reactivate the site just republish it.

2009 24-inch iMac 3.06GHz (EMC no. 2267). I don't get any audio when connecting my Sony HD TV to my iMac via mini DisplayPort. Is there a fix or hardware upgrade? I'm using a Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable w/ audio support.
You can connect the audio from your iMac to your TV using a mini jack (like headphones plug) to rca (regular red and white audio connectors used on every TV,DVD, etc) cable.
On your TV, you need to be able to set the audio for the HDMI input you will use to "analog" and connect the rca end of the cable to the analog inputs on your TV. -
New external hard drive not readable, don't want to erase data
Recently, my old external hard drive's USB port had broken, so I'd taken it to a tech shop where he replaced the motherboard in my old hard drive and slotted it into a new one.
However, my Mac does not recognise it, giving me this message:
If I click on 'initialize', I'm taken to disk utility, which I thought I'd be able to rescue this problem. This is what I'm greeted with:
Trouble is, every question I've seen so far on here that gets it recognised results in erasing the data on the drive first. All of my information is on the hard drive, so I don't want to erase anything at all on there. Is there any way I can get my Mac to recognise the drive without me having to erase all the data? I'll be eternally grateful to anyone who can save this for me.The second screen shot suggests that the disk has already been reformatted (and not even in a Mac format). Did you make it clear to the tech shop folks that you needed to retain the data on the disk?

I have and Ipod touch 3G and it has a message in Red saying "Ipod is disabled for 16,333 minutes"
I did not have it backed up to a computer and it has 122 books on tape installed on it so I don't want to erase the whole thing and start trying to download all the books on it again.
I am just trying to get to the IPOD passcode screen.

Does "erase when connecting" really work?
A few weeks ago, my MacBookPro got stolen :-((
Of course, I had registered it with 'Find My iPhone', and, immediately after it got stolen , I requested in 'Find my iPhone' an erase as soon as it would connect to the internet.
However, so far, iCloud reports that it has not yet connected to the internet.
So I was wondering, whether that feature actually works, or whether it is possible to circumvent the erase.
Is it possible to change the serial number of a Macbook ?
Or is it possible to connect it to the internet such that Apple cannot erase it?

I don't know where to find my photos that are supposed to be stored on the "cloud". I don't want to erase them from my iPhone until I can locate them. I'm out of storage.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Only photos in photostream are kept in the cloud and only for 30 days. To save your photos before deleting them, sync them to a computer or an online storage solution such as Dropbox. -

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

My ipod classic has started making a mewling sound and all it does is scroll through the songs. It does not play on my Bose sound dock or through earbuds. It will play when connected to the computer...but that makes it hard to take it on a walk with me I thought it might be a synching problem so tried that--still doesn't work. How do I fix this problem with out restoring it to the factory setting? I do not want to lose all my music content as some of it I cannot replace easily. Please help with suggestions and advice. When there are photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll, your iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer. Although photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Not a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup alone for these photos, and deleting the photos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete will improve your iPhone's backup time. If you want any of the imported photos available on your iPhone for viewing, you can add the photos to an existing iPhoto album already selected to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync, or create a new iPhone album for the recently imported photos, select the new iPhoto album under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync.

Unable to access song list in ipod when connected to the computer.
My daughter loaned her ipod to a friend who tried to download some music to her ipod. A box opened asking if she wanted to delete all her songs from her ipod and she was given yes, no, and cancel. She pushed cancel and got out.
My daughters ipod has not worked correctly since.
When connected to the computer and logged into iTunes she can see all the songs in her ipod but they are light in color and she can not play or pick songs from the list. She can't delete anything from her list in the ipod. She can play her music from the computer list just fine.
What has happened and can we somehow get her ipod back to working correctly?Hello jhfields,
So, you are saying that you are unable to pick and choose songs from the Music list for the iPod while it is plugged into iTunes?
If the songs are grayed out, it is probably because the iPod is set up to automatically sync. In order to play music from the iPod through iTunes, you have to enable the "manually manage music and videos" option from under the iPod's Summary tab.
Does that do the trick for you?
