HT4623 after downloading the new update today my phone will not come back on, all it shows is the itune logo and a picture of the plug in, I cant receive any calls nor go to any screens. HELP

the two icons. When I power up it does nothing except shows those 2. When power off I dont even

If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

I update to the new i-tunes so I could update my ipad. Now the i-tunes store does not open and I can not update my software on my Ipad. Any suggestions??

I have experienced the same problem, I updated the software then updated my iPhone, after a few problems it eventually updated, when I tried to connect my iPad it would not recognise it, it have followed all the online help ie reboot, start n stop the software, reinstalled it but still no joy!! It only seems to recognise devices that have been updated. I'm puzzled!!

Just just to make sure, you do not see something like this when you try to do a search in Safari?
Try clearing Safari in Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and data. Then close Safari. Double tap the home button and drag the mini Safari window up toward the top of the screen in the multitasking display in order to close the app. Now reboot the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple Logo appears on the screen.
Try Safari again.
The Spotlight Search feature on the iPad search) no longer searches the web, that is simply the way that Spotlight works now. Sort of a backwards move IMO but somewhat typical of Apple these days.

I did this update just the way I've always done updates and had exactly the same problems: none. Unless you tell us what difficulties you had/are having, we can't really comment knowledgeably.

When trying to download a new widget from dashboard it will take me to download upgrades. my computer is up to date.

cann't download new widgets to dashboard. screen will take me to downloads,but for safari or itunes

I think this is a problem with the website - not your fault. Give it a day or two and see if it clears up.

My ipod naaIno is stuck in the lock position, my hold switch will not turn off even when I move it. I have tried restoring it and resetting it and it still comes back on in the hold/locked postion. It will only play when placed on a docking station and then I cant scroll to pick songs, I can only go to next song using buttons on docking station.

You will need to have the hold switch replaced.

Unfortunately, yes. Apple's servers are being hammered by literally millions of people trying to update their software. A long wait is super irritating but it's what usually happens.
Maybe cancel it and if you don't mind waiting a day or two, it'll be much faster work after the rush is over.

There is no one from Apple here, and anyone that did know would be under a NDA. As Apple has pushed back the release of iTunes 11 to sometime in November, don't expect any updates before then.
