I downloaded iBook but the icon is not on my desktop and I can't find the app using search. This is a bug, what's the fix?
I have tried downloading free books in an effort to bring up the app and they download but I can't find them either.
What do I do?

To the Apple community: Thank you for the quick responses. I empathize with Apple's challenge -- the technical support logistics are exponentially more difficult in supporting consumer products -- especially non-commoditized products -- than in supporting an enterprise products. So thank you to the Apple community for reaching out to help the company as an adjunct. It certainly is unique.
This does not alleviate Apple's responsibility to release note this issue, to insert a message on the screen telling the user to reboot or to create a fix in a future software release that allows the icon to show up without rebooting. Thanks

Do you have Time Machine enabled. If so, go back through your previous months until it features in your Application folder. Then restore.

Click on the Desktop. From the Finder menu select Preferences. Check the boxes for what you want on your Desktop. If they are already checked, then try unchecking and rechecking.

I've just updated itunes and it has disappeared from my PC- the previous shortcut won't work and it can't locate on my file search- this is the second time this has happened when updating itunes- APPLE you seem to be going down the tubes slowly but surely..
its not apple going "down the tubes" its that you have windows junk. These opinion best left at apple.com/feedback
you need to completely uninstall itunes and all components

Can anyone help please? When downloading photos to iPhoto, they no longer appear as Events and I can't find the photos in "Photos".
You can batch correct the date on all of those photos with the Photos ➙ Adjust Date & Time menu option:

So I have an iPod Touch, 2nd or 3rd gen., and it has music synced from multiple Apple IDs. I need to know how to copy that music as an audio file to save on my computer.
You can copy iTunes purchased from a device to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases - if the account is authorised on your computer's iTunes then you should be prompted to authorise it when trying to copy them.
Or there are programs listed half-way down this page which can copy them back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
You can then add them to your iTunes library via File > Add To Library, again you should be prompted to authorise the account if it's not already authorised.
You can also find the account that a track is tied to be selecting/highlighting it in the My Music part of your library, or the Music section of 'OnMy Device' when you select the device, and doing 'get-info' (command-i) - it will show on one of the tabs on the popup -
Somehow I have an iPhoto Library_2 but none of my earlier photos are there and I can't find them
I have no idea why I have an IPhoto Library_2 - I did not change anything at all and cannot find the original library. I'm missing a lot of pictures from the last three years - any suggestions?
How did you search for your iPhoto Library? Have you tried to search with Find Any File? It will search in folders, that Spotlight will not show.

Some emails don't appear in the folder list, I can only find them by using Search Messages
As of yesterday, new emails from one regular correspondent do not appear in the list of messages when I click on Inbox. The only way I can access them is to use "Edit/Find/Search Messages". They are still in Inbox, they haven't been moved to another folder.
Thunderbird version is 31.6.0.None of these apply, the messages have been received, I can find them using Search Messages but they do not appear in the folder contents.

My Apple TV AirPlay icon disappears off my iPad and I don't know how to get it back. I have done all the suggestions on the site. Once I found it in my photos but now I don't know where to find it.
It should be in the Music app (iBooks is for written books) - when you have audiobooks on an iPad you will get an Audiobooks option under the More button at the bottom of the Music app.
Note that audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store (so they won't appear in the Purchased tab for re-downloading), so you may want to copy it to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take a backup copy of it - it should copy over to the Books part of your iTunes library (Audiobooks if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it). -
I've tried several times to upload some songs with no luck. It startd the match process but seems to stall at step 2. Any suggestions?

I can not get firefox to load up. I tried unstalling it. I also went through the troubleshooting and tried to adding a new profile but I keep on getting a error when I try to load profile manager. I tried deleted all files in the mozilla firefox program folder and it let me delete all but one file. Everytime I try to open this file or deleted it, a message comes up and says the file is corrupted. What are some other suggestions to fix this?
You can do a disk check with the chkdsk.exe program.
If you run the chkdsk.exe program from a cmd.exe Command window then you can read the response from the chkdsk.exe program.
Open a cmd.exe window:<br />
Start > Run: cmd.exe <press Enter>
At the command prompt (>) type or Copy&Paste: chkdsk.exe /f /r <press Enter> (put a space before /f and /r)
If you get something like: Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? y/n then answer the question with "Y" and close all programs and reboot the computer.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Recently reloaded FF after a HD crash. In the past FF would automatically fill login info after prompting me to allow it. I'm not seeing that prompt anymore, and I can't find anything in preferences addressing this.

My MacBook Pro is not recognizing my external hard drive. The hard drive is listed in disk utilities but an icon does not pop up and I cannot access the data. Is there any way to resolve this?
WE know Disk Warrior is more reliable, hence more useful, and should be in any disk mechanics toolchest.
For the record, I don't know anything of the kind. I have yet to see evidence that Disk Warrior is useful at all.
What I do know is that you seem to take every opportunity you get to promote it in these forums. Do you work for Alsoft?
Let me be a little more explicit. My opinion is that Disk Warrior is a waste of money if one has backups. If a journaled HFS directory is so badly corrupted that it can't be repaired by Disk Utility, then the volume should be reformatted and restored from backup, which has the same effect as running DW, but is probably faster and doesn't cost $99.
