bought my 1st apple 4 days ago. ipad2air - always used Wins8 & MS on pc - so finding apple v different. When set up on Saturday with help from friend used to tablet. I used thumbprint for id - worked for 1 day and now nothing. Also both user ID and pw were written on paper Sat and already by yesterday were not recognised. I updated my OS yesterday on my IPAD 2 to iOS7.3. I entered a 4 digit passcode, and of course I didn't write it down. Now I cannot get into my iPAD. Any suggestions how to fix this?

If your computer's iTunes isnt recognising the iPad when you connect it then have you got a recent version of iTunes installed on your computer ? There are also troubleshooting pages for a device not showing in iTunes on these pages :

You have to all be signed into the same Apple ID and on the same WiFi network, but yes you can do it. You have to sign into her Apple ID on your iPad in the store settings.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:

I have an ipad 2 WiFi. I was in the hospital having surgery and forgot my password. I tried several times but couldn't get it. I ended up disabling my ipad. There are important pics n notes in there that I need. How can I get back into it without using iTunes (because I bought it second hand, off ebay) and without losing all my saved items. If it's disabled then it's too late to copy any content off it or to take a new backup, you will have to reset it back to factory defaults by connecting it to a computer's iTunes : Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
Have you been backing up to the cloud ? If you have then after resetting it back to factory defaults you can restore to that backup : Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
If you bought it second hand then had the previous user removed their account from Settings > iCloud (and had Find My iPad enabled) on it ? Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

You are getting this message because you are attempting to create an iCloud account on a PC. You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.2) or higher. After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account on your PC.
