That is the adapter I purchased from Apple which does not fit in the Apple Universal cradle (which apparently is no longer universal). However, I just created my own solution. The cradle holds the dock connector at a slight angle so the adapter, which has a straight bottom edge, will not slide down far enough to make a connection. Since the adapter has a plastic case, I used my Swiss Army knife to whittle it down to fit. It's a no-tech solution, and free!

My ipod was working just fine for the past 2 years and ever since upgrading to ios 6.1.3, i simply cannot play games or anymore such as Subway surfers, carrot fantasy, 4 pics 1 word, etc. I also noticed that i had 1.2 GB of free space on ios 5.1.1 but then decreased to 900+ MB after "upgrading" to ios 6.1.3. I then deleted one of my space-hungry apps (the sims freeplay) to clear up some space and now have 1.6 GB of free memory. Just a thought, could apple have purposely done this with their software update to actually make an older, phased-out product such as my ipod touch 4th gen work worse than it has in its previous versions of softwares to force you to scrap it for a newer product?

IPod touch 4th gen won't restore or power on after dropping it on its back "waiting for ipod"
My iPod touch 4th gen was recently dropped on its back after playing with its case. It turned white, then powered off.
After that i tried restoring and now everytime itunes stays on the "waiting for ipod" step.
I know that all functions work because I successfully entered dfu mode many times, and the lcd powers on but the progress bar doesn't move while itunes says waiting for ipod.
Thanks for looking at my thread and sorry if i misposted (first time apple forum user)Something has been jarred inside. Anecdotally, people have reported success smacking their device again, to maybe rejarr things back into working order. But doing that is your call since it could be defined as abuse.
If it's physically damaged inside, there may not be much of a user fix for you to try unfortunately. -

Well I've had my iPod Touch 4th Gen since it came out it will be 2 years old in October. Yesterday I charged my iPod while listening to music. I took it of when it was charged and used a little it became half dead so I put it on my charger. I realized there was no indication of it charging? I placed on all of the chargers in my house and the same problem. I haven't tried connecting it to my Mac, but I did try turning on and off but still won't charge. Does anyone know if I can fix this?
- Try connecting it to yur computer and se if it charger and it it appears in iTunes
- Try another cable
- Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalites like bent or corroded contacts, crackd or missing plastic pieces or foreign material.

Hello guys. I have had my iPod Touch 4th gen for over a year now. I used to be able to plug my ipod into my computer but it started to stop working. It will not show up on "my computer", itunes, or charge. When I plug it in it says "USB device not recognized". I tried plugging it into diffferent ports, using a different cord, but when I plugged anyting else into the non-working plug it worked. I believe it has to be something with apple devices. ALl the other cords will work in the port but my cord. It works fine in other computers, so I don't know what to do. We live far away from an apple store, so I don't really want to drive there just for this.

try to restore in itunes bye putting in recovey mode turn the ipod off press the home button and plug in the ipod into the computer. an itunes shuld see it in recovery mode and click restore. and that should do the trick.

I have a iPod Touch 4th Gen. It ran out of battery. So I charged it and it wouldn't show the charging sign. After a few hours, I tried turning on the device, it would not work. I try doing a reset (Power/Lock and Home for 10 sec), still nothing.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

This one kid reported to them that his was stolen and they gave him a new one. Will they do the same for me? Is there any other way I can get all my pictures from my iPod without iCloud set up? Ipod touch 4th gen needed a new screen and sleep/wake switch. So, I replace them. I was able to get to settings and do "erase all content and settings". I am not able to totally shut this device off as it keeps restarting after a few seconds. I have used itunes to restore and also recover. Device will actually shut off and stay shut off if I leave it connected to the computer. The moment I unplug (3 seconds) the apple logo appears, it boots, unlock screen appears, I can unlock and operate normally, unplugged or not. Just cant get it to completely shut down unplugged. Any thoughts?
