I had to remove my Firefox data manager. Is this a problem?
I had to restore my computer to a previous date. I had problems and went to the extensions. The data manager had problems and I needed to remove it. Is this a problem? If so, what do I do?

I had some issue with my Firefox (it crashes when i starts), so i format my laptop to factory setting and now i got new Firefox installed and left with this Old Firefox Data folder.
my question is :
Ii understand the profile in my Old Firefox Data contains my Bookmarks and information i previously had before i formatted, i just do not know how to apply this Old Firefox Data to my new Firefox to get what i need.

It is best to only copy what you need and avoid copying the full profile content. -
I recently downloade Firefox v6.0 but had to remove it via the Control Panel>Add/Remove Program. When I downloaded v6.0 again and tried to re-install it I keep getting an error messsage that said that I had to reboot to fully remove the previous copyof v6.0. However when I did reboot I get the same error message. I'm sort of stuck in a loop and can't figure out how I can re-install v6.0. I am running Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop.

Which version of firefox will work on iMac 10.4.11? I had to remove the 3.5.2 version because of constant freezes that I could not get out of, even after shutting down my computer, the freeze would continue when I turned it back on.

when i downloaded the new browser i think it damaged my kaspersky i had to remove my spywear my broser and security bothcame up saying that i had a trojen and a bunch of virous tried cleaning up with kaspersky it wont work because it says its corrupt and your broser says its not compatible with kaspersky
I'll suggest you uninstall what you have downloaded, run a virus/spyware scan of your computer to make sure it's virus and spyware free. Then download from the following website. You should always download Firefox from either the built-in update system of Firefox or the following website. Please let us know your status after you have done these.

The college on-line program I'm taking usesMozilla Firefox. I downloaded the Windows version; then received a message that the internet connection could not be found. Shortly thereafter I signed off from the internet. When I attempted to access the internet found I no longer was able to and had a message that Firefox was my current search engine. I tried many changes- unsuccessfully- in control panel. Finally removed Mozilla Firefox and then was able to get on the internet again. I've used Firefox in the past and appreciated it. I would like to have the use again and so wouldn't the college I'm taking on-line courses with. Is there a solution? Thank you.

Removed working Firefox 7, Installed Firefox 10.0, Firefox will not load. When I click on icon, firefox.exe process shows briefly in task manager, then goes away....no errors, nothing. Never see browser panel at all. Also tried to install Firefox 9.0, but the same result was observed.
Rather difficult to say what the problem may be at present but for general info please have a look at

Note sometimes you may have to wait a while for firefox to shutdown completly, and if it has hung then as explained in the above articles you may need to kill any firefox.exe process that is still running (and maybe plugincontainer.exe)
Try starting firefox in [[safe mode]] e.g. by holding down shift key

If firefox is crashing see [[firefox crashes]], this is easier to work through if you can get firefox to start without crashing on startup. so a while back i transfered my old computer files to my new computer and when i did that i tried getting my firefox books marks added when i did it it just made a file old firefox data. i went into it it has the books marks but the problem is it isnt really readable kinda jumbled up and i wanna know if i can import it to my current one or somehow get it organized so i can at least see them apart or on a note pad just each bookmark on its own line? i added a picture of what it looks like

Never messed with JSON files other than viewing them on a few occasions out of curiosity. There are no line breaks which make them very difficult to read.
As far as working with that file in {like} NotePad goes:
A. use Find / Search for each indecent of a '''"uri"''' string, then "copy and paste" the uri into another text file, and then move on to the next "uri" string.
B. use a text program where a filter can be set for the "uri" field in the JSON file for a line break or to "scrape out" the "uri"s only for display or export to a list of uri's.
Or try using an online JSON editor like this, to try to display only the "uri" field.

The problem is very simple. As soon as I downloaded Firefox 4.0 I lost my add-ons. The add-ons were the reason I have been using Firefox for several years. This seems to be ludicrous. The new version should be able to manage integration of existing add-ons or the Firefox team should have provided the add-on authors with advance technical information before releasing 4.0 to the world.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Deleting DataLocationGroups (with MDM Data Manager or MDM Java API)
I´ve a lot of DataLocationGroups which are results of tests (importing pictures into the images tables but not stored as BLOB). I can´t see that the underlying table is exposed within MDM Data Manager. So i tried to delete the useless nodes with the DeleteGroup command.
However this seems not to be supported by the API

Maybe you have some idea how i can check if the a Location is already existent? From experiments when importing with the MDM Data manager, it seems that a path is represented by a tree of HierLocationGroupNodes.
For example: I´ve imported from
cde271480MMPPpictures.jpg using the Data Manager. When using the RetrieveGroupTree Command, i can see that there are two nodes named cde271480 (Id: GN39) with child node named MMPP (Id: GN89).
Maybe i now want to use the API to import a picture from
cde271480 estlocation into the images table. To get a locationID usable for the setDataLocationId i had to compare the pathname of the picture with elements of the GroupTree from the root. If one element of the path is not existent in the tree, i have to create this new element and connect it to the parent. And i can then use the ID of the Leaf node for the DataLocationId. Is this correct? -
I chose to delete the Firefox UX's data when I uninstalled it and forgot that it shares the same profile and data with the current Firefox.

* Have you synced your profile data to any other machine using Firefox Sync? If so you may be able to sync it back by specifying 'replace this machine's data with the sync data' when you set up sync.
* You may still have automatic backups of your bookmarks which can be restored. See here: [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
* If none of this works then try Recuva. Point it at the folder where all the profile folders are stored. See here: [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]]. If Recuva can recover the files in your old profile then you can use the Firefox profile manager to point Firefox at the recovered Profile.
