I have 100s of photos in my Photo app on my iPhone. I need to erase them . How?
I don't know how I got all my artwork on to my iPhone, but it takes up too much space. These are not in my camera app, but seperate in Photos. Can I erase them?

Connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes, then click on the name of your phone in iTunes. The Photos tab is to the far right (see image below). If you still can't see it, be sure you have iTunes showing full screen (maximized).

I take lots of photos/videos of my kids and my iphone is hooked up to my macbook-pro and then new-my passport (1Tb) and having problems on transfering them to external hard drive (my passport). "My passport" does not have iphoto so I can't use it as a start up hard drive to my computer... I can't download on computer because it says it is full...
any suggestions,
thxs,Move the Library to the Passport?
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

When I import photos taken from my Ipod Touch 4 to My Mac Desktop, I click delete photos on ipod, but they do not delete. Is the only way to delete them individually (I have 1,400 photos!) or is there a way to delete them all in one go?
I realise you can you can delete them on your ipod slowly as you have to click on each one, and you can restore your ipod, but surely there is a way to get around this?
Software: 4.3.2

Thanks If anyone can help me.Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

Lost my hard drive and also an Ipad, but have 7 k photos on a Touch that I need to load on fixed IMAC with a new hard drive, how do I do it. (There were more photos than the 7k, but they were saved on other drives, thank goodness). 7K pohotos on the Touch are no where else, must be saved! Just never went from a Touch to iMac. I have the cable hooked up and then what, I don't want to mess up,my last chance to save 7k pics! New Aperture and IPhoto on IMAC with no other photos loaded on the new hard drive yet.
I'd ask in the iTouch forum where there are more iTouch users there than here and they should know how to off load the photos. It might take a 3rd party app.

If I have, say 200 photos in an EVENT and I use 50 of them in an ALBUM, and months later I'm happy with the ALBUM and want to trash the extra 150 photos, is there an easy way to know which 150 photos to trash? My idea is to not have hundreds of photos taking up space on the hard drive.
Thanks.Various ways:
Easy one: Flag the ones you want to keep (do this in the Album - Select All and Flag)
Then:
File -> New Smart Album
Event -> contains -> Name of the Event
Photo -> Is Not -> Flagged
will find the unwanted 150.

I have transferred all photos from iPad and iPhone to Mac. I have deleted almost all photos from both (about 200 remaining on each). I do not store tunes or videos. After making these changes, I still have the same message in iCloud.
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > Select your device (listed as 'This iPhone' or 'This iPad') then look at the next backup size. Compare the 'Next Backup Size' to the 'Backup Size' on taht same screen. If the next backup size is smaller, then you have successfully removed some content from your device.
Now the question still lingers as to why your iCloud is still showing so full right? Well, iCloud keeps the last 3 backups from each device. It doesn't duplicate them, but it uses an incremental backup system. So basically your device's backup will take up as much space on iCloud as the largest backup of the last 3 backups. With that being said, your iPhone and ipad will eventually shrink the size of your backup (if that next backup size is smaller) in about 3 days (3 backups assuming your iOS devices backup once as day when you are sleeping).
Can I expedite this? Well of course you can. If you want, you can Delete the backup from both of the devices via that same screen then go back to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, turn iCloud Backups back on, then backup now. Keep in mind that if you do this, it will clear out your last 3 backups (and cannot be undone), but it may also take a long while for your iPhone and iPad to complete that inital backup after deleting the old backups.
I hope this helps. (My Recommendation: Basically check what's in paragraph one, then it will works itself out in a few days.) -
I have downloaded 1010.3 twice (2+gig each). The update window shows the 10.10.3 update has been installed, however, 'About this Mac' shows 10.10.2 installed and I don't have the new 'photo' app installed. Once more, the quality of Apple software approaches that of Microsoft - letting the user debug instead of delivering the quality that used to be Apple.
How do I activate the downloaded update. There may well be a problem with the update package. I initially tried downloading the delta update (not the combo) from the Apple Support web site, and when I opened the package file, the installer ran but terminated almost immediately. I restarted and only got the normal reboot process, not the "Installing software" display. After restarting, I saw some evidence that the firmware updater was cleaning up some files, but nothing else appeared to have happened except that the 1.5Gb package file and a couple small subsidiary files had been left under /Library/Updates/_ManualUpdate.
I tried running the command line softwareupdate tool to see if it would recognize the already-downloaded package file (which is something you might also want to try before downloading again just in case it works), but no such luck. I then relented and used App Store, and that downloaded again and then performed the update successfully.
Of course, then I had to horse around with turning off all the "photos in the cloud" nonsense, but that's another story. -

I Have uploaded my photos to iCloud from my PC but cannot access them with the photo app.
I have tried numerous times but no actual picture. There is a frame for the pictures on keynote but the picture does not seem to be available.

I have 5000 photos on my 16GB iphone, where can I store them where i can access them easily?
I completely agree Fox. Photostream should be used as a convenience for sharing, not for anything other than temporary storage. Same goes for the device itself.
At least once a week, I import my photos/videos from my iPhone to my computer, and at least once a month, I make a backup of my computer to an external hard drive. And at least once every few months, I burn 2 DVDs of the past few months worth of photos/videos, one for myself, and one that I put in my fire safe with other important hard copy documents. And there are off-site image storage options out there as well which are available, and I've used occassionally.
The only time I've ever lost photos was about one half-day's worth while I was on vacation when my camera went overboard. And this was on day 5 of my vacation. Each night, I swapped out memory cards and uploaded the current day's card to my laptop. For anyone going on a trip, I recommend at least three memory cards for your camera, or if you're only using an iPhone, backup to either iCloud or iTunes every day.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. -
I have 10 duplicate photo albums on my iPhone 4, with 1157 photos in each allbum, How do I eliminate 9 of the ten albums to reclaim all this space?

First of all, there is only 1 picture in my Camera Roll, why does it say 3?
This is a known issue that third party software like phoneview can fix.
Second, is there any way to remove the "Photo Library" from the Albums, or is that something we have to keep?
No. Your photos are not actually duplicated, this is just a pointer to the photos in the various albums you have synced.
If it's something we must keep, can we at least change the icon next to it so it's not the flower?
No. -
I can't upload pictures to Facebook Pages albums with my IPad Mini 3. I've tried safari too and the basic uploader doesn't work. I can add photos to the wall but I need to put them in albums for my Boutiqu
It is peculiar, that Chrome, Safari, and Skype can access FB, but not the iPhoto uploader.
Do you see any error messages/ diagnostics in the Console Window, when you try to connect to Facebook?
Launch a Console window from Applications > Utilities and clear the Console Window. Then try to upload. Are there any new messages?
And also launch a Terminal and have a look, if "facebook.com" is properly resolved:
Type
ping facebook.com
into the window. Do you see any transmissions? What is the IP address used?
I see:

When I upload photos to iPhoto from my iPhone and then press delete from iPhone it does not delete them, how do I fix this?
I am having the same problems as this person. I see that someone said there is no way to retrieve the pictures once it gets stuck in recovery mode.
Then further along someone said that there are data retrieval methods except they have something to do with jail breaking a phone.
My phone is already jail broken. It was kind of a gift from the company I work for- it was a fellow employees before. He jail broke it and then it was given to me. After I got it I activated the 4 and tried to back up everything. It didn't work and "Springboard" forced the phone into safety mode. So I could use it with the old dude's apps and my contacts. I made the mistake of using the phone for wedding dress shopping with a friend. I took tons of pictures.
After this I found out the messages I was seeing meant it was jail broken. At&t said to force restore the phone - iTunes wouldn't recognize it in safety mode. I'm an idiot and didn't realize what this meant for my pictures. It didn't work (error 1611) - thankfully. Now it is stuck in recovery mode (iTunes icon and USB cable picture).
Can I access that media in any way? It never suceeded restoring itself so is it still there? The phone is jail broken already so is there a method I can use? -
Help! How do I stop photos in the albums of the photo app on my iPhone 6 from being scrambled and randomized after syncing to iTunes?
Hi LoboCatholic,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are desscribing. I am not certain that this will address your specific issue, but if you are having photo organization issues in iOS 8 on your new iPhone 6, you may find the following article helpful:

The faces in Photos app of my iPhone are appearing, but none are selected in iTunes.
All is in the title.
I had problem to sync my events between iPhoto and the iPhone. I achieve it, but now, all faces are still showing in the Photos app of my iPhone. They are all unchecked. I selected "sync only events,... selected" and included automatically all events.
Any clue on this?

HT201313 Can you sync photos from the new Photos app to your iPhone?
With the new update and with apple moving away from iPhoto is it still possible to sync the photos from the Desktop Photos app to the iPhone like we used to be able to thru iPhoto? Right now it seems like I can only sync directly from folders on my computer.
Ah. Thanks for the help. Turns out I just had to restart iTunes for Photos to show up.

I've downloaded some free apps on my iphone 4 and some of them have ads. I was just wondering, are those ads free as well, or are they using my internet when they pop up like that? i have to mention, i never click them.
Yes, they will use a very small amount of your internet bandwidth to display.
