I have 2 iPads with the same log in and password details. How do I make them independent of each other so that contacts and calendar entries are not duplicated
I have 2 iPads. When gifting one to my wife I did not change the log in and security details. Consequently any contacts and calendar entries are duplicated. How do I make the iPads independent so that the foregoing duplications are eliminated?

The logins on the iPads, for example the iTunes store can be the same if you share an iTunes account, this will not effect the Contacts/Calendars unless you are using iCloud to sync Calendar/Contacts in which case just setup a new iCloud account for your Wife and change the iCloud settings on her iPad to this new account.
Unfortunately the contacts if syncing with your computer will be the same as it can only sync from the given contacts on your computer.
You can use a different login to the computer for your wife and she can then have her own contacts.
If your Contacts application on your compuer has Categories/Grouping you can tell iTunes to sync certain Categories/Groups to each iPad, that way splitting up the contacts on your computer for each iPad.
The same is true for the Calendar if you only have the one calendar it will sync it for both of you, the iPad settings in iTunes has the option to pick a Calendar if you have more then one.
One option is to use an online calendar such as Google Calendar and sync to and from it with your iPad that way the Calendars would be individual.

All the tunes I had on my Ipod have been deleted. Any suggestions as to how I can retrieve them.
Windows Media Player is like iTunes is just a Media Player to play media files on your computer. You just have to know where the media files are in your PC. Drag that folder with media files into iTunes so ITunes library will have all these media transferred. You can then sync them over to your device.
Your device will only sync with iTunes and not Windows Media Player. -
2 users on imessage with the same apple id but setup so they messages can't be seen by each other
My kids are using my itunes account and they both just recently got ipod touches. They both use imessage but they can see each others messages. Is there a way to set it up so they can't see the messages for each other. I've got them setup with different email accounts so the emails are going to the right accounts, just need to separate the messages now. Please help me. Thank you.
This is not an area where I have any expertise, but you may want to consider using separate Apple IDs and using the recently released Family Sharing capabilities which still allow you to share your music and apps.

If you registrate one Apple ID for each iPhone/iPad, you'll get 5GB on iCloud for each Apple ID, right? I have two iPhones and one iPad with the same Apple ID, why can't I get 5 GB fo each of them?
Actually, everyone missed one point, when a device is priced, the cost of icloud storage space for that device is also included in it that is why they are able to give you 5gb each for each user ID, in nutshell there is nothing free coming with apple device purchase, it is paid for. What they are trying by giving only 5gb per user ID irrespective of the number of devices used is pure broadlight looting, they take money from you when you buy each device and give you nothing, This is a case of goods and services bought but not fully deliverd ie apple can be suied for discreminatory treatment towards it's users. I wonder why no one tried this yet in America where everyone sue everyone for petty things..... there is no one to take up this issue? . if tim got any love for the guys who shell out money for the devices his company makes, he should be implimenting this as priority before someone wake up from sleep and sue him.

2 Game Center Accounts on 2 iPads - with the same Apple ID. How to do that?
I really hope someone can help my daughter and I here...
The story: My daughter and I had an iPad each - naturally, since she is a minor, both iPads had the same Apple ID & password. In Game Center, we had separate Accounts (so we wouldn't mess up each others zoos and such), but with the same Apple ID. No problems so far.
Now, some lowlife burglar stole both our iPads... So I have bought new ones, one for me, and one for my daughter. She is thrilled to have her iPad back, and the games she have missed.
But oh no... Whenever she opens a game, the iPad launches "my version" of the game, with my Game Center nickname. I try to log her in with her nickname on her new iPad, but it is impossible - using the same Apple ID and password, it only shows my Game Center account. If I try to manage my account, or create a new with the exact same nickname she used on her old iPad, Game Center refuses to log on, because the "name is already taken" - Well I know it is taken, it is my daughters, but how to get it? It is like I know both the Apple ID, the password and both GCA names - but I have nowhere to type in "Game Center Account name" followed by the password...
I need help. I tell my daughter that there must be a solution, and her progress in her games are not lost; I can see them through MY Game Center account, so they are not deleted - but how to enter her part of the account is beyond my knowledge, so please, any ideas are welcome. You can Erase all content and settings - that returns it to the "out of box" condition.

New iPad with the same account as older one
I will buy a new iPad mini for my son. Currently, I have iPad2 with several payed apps and games among other. I would like to keep new iPad with the same account and to transfer only games to new iPad. In that case I would like to be responsible for buying new apps for both iPads. Also, I would like to know could I backup two iPads to the same computer and same iTunes library?
As you said, Family Sharing would need iOS 8 on both iPads. You can go to the App Store and click on each app in your purchases, to check that each of your necessary apps are compatible with iOS 8, but the vast majority will be so that should not be too much of a concern. The easiest way for you to carry out this entire operation is through Family Sharing, once both iPads are on iOS 8, all you would have to do is go into the App Store from the new iPad and click "purchases" which will now show your name as a family member and allow access to all your previously purchased apps that allow family sharing, including the games. Again, in App Store you can check that each of the game apps allow Family Sharing, by touching on the icon of the app and scrolling to the details area it will say "Family Sharing: Yes/No". It will be free to download any previous purchases to the new iPad. To answer your other question, yes you can back up two iPads to the same iTunes Library, they have different serial numbers and are recognized as separate devices, for ease of use it is recommended to uncheck automatic syncing on the new device for music, photos, and more. Why can't I open some of my documents on Pages even though I created them all on the same IPad with the same Pages ap?
I think I know the problem because I've had it myself. I didn't upgrade iWorks on my iPad, but after Apple made changes to iCloud (concurrent with Mavericks) any docs passing through it were modified and made unreadable. Even though, as you say, they were created on my iPad using the previous version of iOS Pages, which I didn't upgrade.
iCloud is the culprit, if your iPad settings had iCloud>Documents & Data enabled, the docs were modified and disabled in the cloud.
I made a further mistake. After I saw this happening, I didn't think to turn off auto updates, and Apple pushed the new version of iOS Pages onto my iPad. The result was that ALL my docs disappeared from the iPad, and from iCloud.com also. I have not been able to recover them.
I've been talking to the Pages engineering team about it. If they come up with an answer, I'll post it here. Meanwhile, get those older files backed up somewhere safe if you can. -

Your question doesn't make a lot of sense without a little more information. You can't transfer a video from the phone to the iPad by connecting the devices. There are WiFi transfer apps that will let you send a video from one device to another one. I get the feeling that isn't what you are really asking though because that has absolutely nothing to do with your Apple ID.
If you want to download the same purchased movie to the iPad that you downloaded to the phone, go to the purchased tab of the iTunes Store on the iPad. Tap the Movies Button. Tap Not on this iPad. Find the movie and tP the cloud icon next to the movie icon and start downloading.
You must be signed into the same ID on the iPad that you bought the movie with on the iPhone. -
