I have a BT line/socket, but BT does not have it o...

The first time I signed up with BT, I told them I had a BT socket.
Consequently, the very nice man went to check the records and discovered that yes, there was a BT line in my house, but it was under a different address name (I have no idea why I have two addresses!)
Now I am signing up with BT again, same residence, but everyone keeps insisting to me that there *Is no record of having a BT line at that address, and that I have been completely disconnected"
Anyhow, I spent 5 hours on the phone being tossed around departments in a circle - this does not bother me, what bothers me is that I have to wait 3 gruelling weeks for an engineer to come to my house to say nothing needs to be done, then activate it.
How on earth does one speed up the process? I clearly don't need a line installed. I just need it activated again at the hefty sum of 125 £.
Any advice is appreciated

Just an update.
Finally got through to someone capable in the BT help department. He said he can activate it within 3 days instead of '3 weeks'
Just letting everyone know that BT does get many things wrong *cross* I've been lied to and misled, but all that doesn't frustrate me as long as I get my line back up and running >:/
Problem: BT's records and refusal to admit I have a line in my house (which I can see with my own two eyes)
Solution: Tell them they're wrong and make them change their records.
Total hours on phone: 8.
