I have a new hard drive fitted, next to my old one, I want to move my bookmarks from the old hard drive to the new one.

My old hard drive had a problem, I can get info from it, I just want to get my old bookmarks.

The user data is store in the profile folder. You can copy the data manually by copying the relevant files from the old profile folder into your current profile folder. If it is just the bookmarks that you want, you can just copy places.sqlite from the old profile folder.
For details of the location of the profile folder, and what the files/folders in the profile folder are for see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox

This is a fairly in-depth tutorial on moving from one computer to another.(I recommend Option 1)

Also, there's no need to find the original disk for installation.  Just download the latest update of your purchased version from here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ and user your original serial number.

  • How do I move my bookmarks from my old laptop to my new laptop without having to enter them one at a time?

I just want to move my bookmarks to Firefox in my new laptop computer.

The most convenient method is to export to a file, then copy/email the file, then import from the file. The most straightforward format is the HTML format. These articles describe the steps:
Old PC: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Exporting%20bookmarks%20to%20an%20HTML%20file Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file | How to | Firefox Help].
New PC: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Importing%20Bookmarks%20from%20an%20HTML%20File Importing Bookmarks from an HTML File | How to | Firefox Help]
'''Please note:''' the menu item formerly named "Organize Bookmarks" is now known as "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and 5.

  • I want to import my bookmarks from my old hard drive to my new computer. Old hard drive is in new computer as secondary drive, can't run firefox from it. Would like to find the file where my bookmarks are stored

have looked in the old hard drive for the file where my favorites would be stored. the only file that I can find is not the latest. I did not back up my favorites on the old computer.

Bookmarks are no longer stored in an html file. Instead, they are stored in a file called '''places.sqlite''' in your '''Profile''' folder.
    # Locate the '''places.sqlite''' file in your old hard drive.
    # Copy it into the '''Profile''' folder of your new hard drive.
    # Note that since you would be overwriting the places.sqlite in your new drive, your current bookmarks/history etc would be overwritten by the ones in the old drive.

  • I want to move my photoshop from my old computer to my new computer. how do i do this?

i have the photoshop elements 10 and premiere elements 10. i want to move them from my old desk top to my new laptop without having to buy a new product.

You are allowed to have two activated installations so as a minimum there is nothing you need to do relative to the old machine.
If you do not want to continue using them on the old computer the minimum you need to do is deactivate them (open each and choose Help -> Deactivate).  If you wish to free up the space on the old machine you can uninstall after deactivating.
To get the applications on the new machine you can just install and activate them.  If you do not have discs or a disc drive or if you just prefer to download you can find downloads for the applications thru the following links:

  • I want to sync my bookmarks from an old laptop to a new one.

I just got a new computer. I didn't know you could sync bookmarks across computers, so I started recreating my bookmarks. Then I found out you could sync them, so I set up a sync account and tried that. It transferred the bookmarks I had started on the new computer to the old one, but not the bookmarks I had on the old one to the new one. These are the bookmarks I want, so how do I put them on the new computer as well?

Well, apparently it just took a lot longer to get to the new computer. They're all there now! Thanks though!

  • How do I move my bookmarks from XP to my new Windows 7 machine?

I have a new Windows 7 machine (Firefox 3.6.12) and want to move my bookmarks from my old XP machine (Firefox 3.6.12). I've read the help pages but find it incomprehensible. I don't want my whole profile moved (not that I could figure out how to do that), just my bookmarks. PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO DO THAT IN SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS.
    Thank you.

If you just want the bookmarks you just need to back them up, copy the file to the new computer and import them from that file. The details are shown here - [[backing up and restoring bookmarks]].

  • HT1660 Can I play movies and music from my external hard drive or do I have to re-instll them on my computer?

Can I play my movies and music from my external hard drive or do I have to reinstall it on my computer?

    Hello B3NN13,
If you would like to add the music from your external hard drive to iTunes without copying it to the iTunes Library on your internal hard drive, you may find the following article helpful:
Add files to your library without adding them to your iTunes folder
When you add an item already on your computer to your iTunes library, iTunes places a copy of the file in your iTunes folder. The original file remains in its current location.
You can change this setting so that files are added to your iTunes library without being added to the iTunes folder. You might want to do this, for example, if you prefer to store video files on an external disk but still want to view them in iTunes.
Choose iTunes > Preferences, and click Advanced.
Deselect the checkbox next to “Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library.”
From now on, when you drag a file to your library or choose File > Add to Library, the item appears in iTunes, but the actual file isn’t copied or moved.
Tip: You can temporarily reverse this setting by holding down the Option key while you drag files to the iTunes window.

I recently purchased a new iMac with an 1 Terrabyte external drive.  I want to transfer my files from my old iMac to the external drive, but I'm afraid that doing that will compromise the use of the external drive on my new iMac.  I have not downloaded the external drive's software onto my old Mac because of this concern.  May I simply "drag and drop" the contents I want transferred to the external drive, then set up my new Mac with the drive and download there? or is there a better procedure?  Comments?  Help?

If your intention is to copy a just documents and data (word processing files and music for example) then yes, you can use drag and drop. If you want to transfer data and applications and permissions, it would actually be easiest to connect the drive to your old computer and turn on TimeMachine. Once TM is finished, connect the drive to your new computer and restart it holding the option key to get into Recovery mode. Then you can use the restore from TM option to transfer your data and programs to the new computer.
