Launch Safari with the Shift key held down. If that doesn't work, temporarily disconnect the computer from the Internet.

Lion is the highest version your can install. You need to have 2 GBs of RAM and be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

Im trying to import a large amount of pictures to Iphoto. I have pleanty of space on my HD. But half way thru the transfer an error message comes up and says not enough disc space. How can I fix this?
I. I want to import 58.64 GB of Photos from an external HD
2. I have 278.28 GB space left on my HD

iPhoto cannot import your photos because

I Have researched this and most advice is to empty the iPhoto trash. I have already done this and it did not help.

I know this feature isn't the most intuitive but I found out how to do it all at once.
Go to the mail box you want the messages deleted from (probably the Inbox of your most used Email Address)
Tap Edit
Tap the circle left of the first message on the list to select the first email message
Put your finger on Move but don't release it!
With another fingerdeselect the first message so there are no messages selected
Remove your finger from the Move button.
Select the mailbox you want the messages to be moved to (probably Trash)

I have an original iPad with the latest software. When I send an email, the keyboard opens with halk on the right side and halk of the left across the body of the email. How can I change this?
Tap and hold on the Keyboard key at the bottom right side of the right portion of the keyboard. You can use the Dock and Merge option from the menu.
Alternatively you can drag the keyboard down and move slightly left, to get it to merge. -

I guess he/she open Notes in Gmail settings. This archives (one way sync) notes in gmail account under notes label that is invisible if you are using the standard gmail setup on your iPhone. You can see it on desktop browser, Safari or gmail app in iDevice. Am I wrong?

I have an imac version osx 10.6.8 with time machine and trash issues.
Husband dragged backups from time machine into trash - God knows why! I had to restore the computer- brought it to the apple store yesterday. There is 1 back up in time machine and computer files are fine. This am time machine can't back up- says it needs more space. Also all those timemachine backups are in the trash. How can I delete them? Tina

After setting up an "Exchange" mail account on my device, iPad/iPhone, it requires a new passcode to be set before data will be downloaded. I did this on the iPad and now have to enter that passcode everytime I turn it on. How do I avoid needing to enter a passcode on my iPhone everytime I turn it on?
The passcode is a requirement set by the administrator of the Exchange server you are connecting to.
It is purely for security purposes.
If you do not want the passcode, you must remove the Exchange account. There is no way around it. -
I am having trouble switching my usb from a backup for my time machine to a normal usb for my files.
Have you reformatted the drive?
Just go to Disk Utility (Applications>Utilities folder), select the drive and erase it, formatting it as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" with a single GUID partition. You may want to change the name of the drive when you erase it.
Have you tried that?

I have installed the updates for my HP Photosmart All-in-One c309a. It prints, but will not scan. Tells me to update - I did that, but still won't scan. Any suggestions to make the scanner work?
This all worked perfectly with my old 2008 MacBook Pro.Have you tried scanning from Image Capture or Preview?

But many people have found that manufacturer scanning control software doesn't work. They have to use the Apple-provided software. -

When trying to sync my ipad i see that I have 10.6 gb of video on my device. When i looked at my itunes under rentals i see that is where all the video space is coming from. These videos are no longer available to watch and I didn't know how i can delete them to free up the space on my ipad??Did you try to set it up as new device, as explained in this article?

I tried changing my Aplle ID on two devices before but I could not get the second device connected. I ended up resetting my accounts restore it. Any suggestions?
When you connect that iPad to iTUnes, go to the summary page and scroll down, there should be a box saying 'automatically update' or something to that effect. De select that.
With automatically update on, what you buy on one goes onto the other. but with that box off you can choose.
On the iPad itself, it's under
Settings
iTUnes and App Stores
and then you can choose what you want automatically updated between the two devices.
