Other than that, you can slide the door of the optical downwards with your fingers, then use a straightened out paper clip to push into that tiny hole to eject the tray.

Contact Apple (call AppleCare) and for a nominal fee the discs will be replaced. You can do that or purchase Snow Leopard (still availble from Apple for $20) and do an erase and install of OS X making the machine like a new machine.

Boot from your DVD by switching on the Mac & inserting the disc, restart it & hold the "C" key. Once the installer window loads & you have selected your language, choose Disk Utility from the Utilities Menu. You will then need to select your disk from the menu within Disk Utility & choose how you wish to format. It should be formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Once it has formatted, you should then be able to install the OS.
PLEASE REMEMBER...that formatting a disk will completely erase it's content. Be sure that you don't wish to recover any of your previous content before doing any of the above.

I got my series number from my Institut (which is in Paris, FR). I do not use Creative Cloud.
When I was installing the software, I cannot select a language.

I saved a document in pages and have overtyped, I thought I was savings a separate document. It seems to have overridden the original. Is there anyway to get the original document back?

Hi, I have produced a letter on pages and saved this. Then I needed to send another letter to the same person and overtyped the original. I thought I was saving a version so would have both. It seems that the original is no longer there and the second one has saved in its place. Is there any way I can retrieve the original. I did not have timetravel installed, but do now.

Assuming that you began your editing session by saving your work somewhere, you should be able to scroll back through your document in roughly 10-minute intervals, or less if you saved a version more often than that by typing Command-S, which would be good. Click on the document name and select Browse all Versions.
If, on the other hand, you opened a new document and typed for hours without ever giving your document a name and storage location and then overwrote it, you may be out of luck. Perhaps someone who knows more about the internals than I will come along and tell you where you could poke about in the file system to look for a temporary file that might contain bits of your work. Otherwise you may have to consider it a lesson learned the hard way.

Connect the iPod to your syncing computer and restore it via iTunes. However, if iTunes asks for the unknown passcode you need to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore the iPod from backup. For recovey mode see:

This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). I have music that was legally purchased and loaded to my iTunes account from cd's that I no longer own. I need a new laptop and am deciding between the iPad and the Mac book. I use the computer for music, photos, and web - nothing else and nothing fancy. I don't know that there is a way to save my huge music library without saving it to an external hard drive and then loading it to a new one (does the iPad have a port to plug an external hard drive into?)

First, you would need to make a backup of the entire iTunes folder on the PC. You could get music to the iPad if the PC was still functioning, or you would have to move the music to another computer. An iPad is not a laptop, and does not have a port to plug an external drive into. You can sync music to the iPad from the computer, but you are correct, unless you get iTunes Match, you would need a computer to copy the music to and then sync to an iPad.

My iphone 3gs has recently broken and have put it in for repair but i may loose all data. which would be fine as i had backed it up on my itunes. However my computer has now broke. is there anyway of getting my restore back on another computer at all?

my iphone 3gs has broken [was in a sort of reboot loop] so that is being fixed and i get it back on Thursday. If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

Unfortuantely, you can only track the phone if you had set up iCloud and enabled Find My iPhone on it before it was lost or stolen. I don't believe there is anything that Apple can do to locate your phone either.
