(I don't want to delete anything)

To recover the photos from an iPod Classic you'll need to use third-party software and the photos gained will be quite low resolution.

I want to sync it with a different PC
On that PC, launch iTunes. From the menu bar top of your screen click Store / Authorize This Computer.

Disable the Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC option from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes and see if that helps.

  • I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1. What is the best way to update my phone to the latest iOS platform?

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1. What is the best way to update my phone to the latest iOS platform?

you can update over the air with strong wireless signal, or by connecting to a computer running iTunes.  Either works well.  If you do the update over the air, be sure and attach your iPhone to a wall outlet so you have a solid power supply and don't risk the battery dying during the update.
The iTunes approach installs a much larger file because of the connection, but if you have not updated since 5.1 that might be a better approach...replace the entire operating system instead of patching.
Either way, backup the iPhone yourself just for your own protection in the off-chance something should go wrong...a little paranoia while updating is a good thing

  • What is the most efficient way to have full access to the front panel on RT Labview?

I have a RT machine that needs to do its job and also port the front panel to an external machine over the network. What is the most efficient way to do it? Using as little of the RT time as possible but providing full functionality to the RT front panel.
So far I have been using it directly from Labview - running the VI on a remote (RT) and have the front panel on local Labview (WINDOWS). I know I can do it with also through WWW (not very happy with that though).
    LV2009 SP1.
    Thanks

Running a compiled executable on the RT target, rather than running it within the development environment, is probably slightly more efficient but limits you to the web interface.  If you're running within the LabVIEW environment, I doubt there's a noticeable difference in efficiency from the RT perspective between the web server and the LabVIEW front panel, although that's mostly a guess (I would expect the RT system to send identical data in each case, once the front panel is loaded).  Those are your only options in modern LabVIEW versions.  In LabVIEW 7.1 you could build an executable that acted as the front panel for an RT system, but that feature does not exist in recent versions.  However, a quick search turned up this document with code to approximately duplicate that behavior, perhaps it will work for you?

  • What is the most effective way to get my imac 2 ghz intel core duo 2 10.4.11 to be able to run 10.5 and sync with my iphone 4s?

What is the most effective way to get my imac 2 ghz intel core duo 2 10.4.11 to be able to run 10.5 and sync with my iphone 4s?

As your Mac should run Snow Leopard provided it has at least 1GB memory, that would be a good deal easier and very much cheaper than trying to find a 10.5 install disc.
Snow Leopard costs $30 approx from the online Apple store (£26 if you're in UK)
You'll need to update Tiger to 10.4.11 with the combo installer first (unless you're just erasing the disc and starting fresh) You can then update SL from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 with its combo installer.
For comparison, 10.5 Leopard is currently running about $130 from Apple (if still available) and more on Amazon etc.

Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753).
If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:
    MB427Z/A  Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD
    MB576Z/A  Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD
MB021Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)
MB022Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (5-user family pack)

What is the most sensible way to extend a wifi signal. I am in a cinderblock house and I have to buy something that will give me a single network but added range from my airport extreme base station.

Use an Airport Express. Configure the AEBS to allow it's wireless network to be extended. This is a dropdown menu option under the Wireless tab. Configure the Airport Express to Extend an Existing Network also under it's Wireless tab. You will need to provide the name of your network used in the AEBS as well as the network's access password.

  • I have a ipod classic which i purchased 2007,can i use the new apple tv dock to play my itunes video clips via my ipod classic to view on my tv

hi there, i have a ipod classic purchased in 2007,with the release of the new Apple TV dock in Australia,my question to anyone out there including apple suooort staff,CAN I USE THIS NEW DEVICE TO VIEW MY VIDEO CLIPS I DOWN LOADED FROM ITUNES ON MY TV INSTEAD OF BUYING THE APPLE COMPONANT CABLES....THANKS  EDWARD

You can plug the iPod into the same iTunes library as your iPod Touch and sync whatever content you like to it. There is no limilt to the number of iPads, iPhones, or iPods you can sync with one iTunes library, account, or computer.  How you sync one device will not affect the syncing preferences of the other.

  • SQL query with multiple tables - what is the most efficient way?

Hello I am learning PL/SQL. I have a simple procedure where I need to find number of employees and departments per location as per user input of location_id.
    I have 3 Tables:
    LOCATIONS
    location_id (pk)
    location_name
    DEPARTMENTS
    department_id (pk)
    location_id (fk)
    department_name
    EMPLOYEES
    employee_id (pk)
    department_id (fk)
    employee_name
1 Location can have 0-MANY Departments
    1 Employee has 1 Department
Here is the query I came up with for PL/SQL procedure:
/*Ecount, Dcount are NUMBER variables */
    SELECT SUM (EmployeeCount), COUNT(DepartmentNumber)
         INTO Ecount, Dcount
         FROM
         (SELECT COUNT(employee_id) EmployeeCount, department_id DepartmentNumber
              FROM employees
              GROUP BY department_id
              HAVING department_id IN
                        (SELECT department_id
                        FROM departments
                        WHERE location_id = userInput));
I do get the correct result, but I am just wondering if my query is on the right track and if there is a more "efficient" way of doing this.
Thanks in advance for helping a newbie out.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
Something like this will be more efficient:
    SELECT    COUNT (employee_id)               AS ECount
,       COUNT (DISTINCT department_id)     AS DCount
    FROM       employees
    WHERE       department_id IN (     SELECT     department_id
                        FROM      departments
                        WHERE      location_id = :userInput
;You should also try a join instead of the IN subquery.
For efficiency, do only the things you need to do.
For example, you don't need a count of employees in each department, so don't compute one. That means you won't need the in-line view, so don't have one.
You don't need PL/SQL for this job, so don't use PL/SQL if you don't have to. (I realize this question was out of context, so you may have good reasons for doing this in PL/SQL.)
Do all filtering as early as possible. Don't waste effort computing things that won't be used .
A particular example of this is: Never use a HAVING clause when you can use a WHERE clause. What's the difference between a WHERE clause and a HAVING clause? The WHERE clause is applied before aggregate functions are computed, and the HAVING clause is applied after; there's no other difference. Therefore, if the HAVING clause isn't referencing an aggregate function, it could be done in a WHERE clause instead.

  • Hi, I have an iphone 4 and recently few alphabets on keypad have stopped working.I figured via apple communitythat i need to calibrate it.Which i tried to do but couldnt. What is the most accurate way to calibrate Iphone 4 ?

    Hi fellow applers!
what is the accurate process of Iphone 4 calibration because few important alphabets
and numbers in my phone keypad dont work anymore and i read so many ways to calibrate including "erase all settings and contents"
    or
'reset' by phone which i tried but hasnt worked.
Ive been told that sometimes if calibration doesnt help set things right then we have to
remove the iphone's upper case and set the digitizer underneath or something like that?
is it true? how do we do it?

today i took it to istyle and tried a new baterry but they said that it didnt turn on
but i bought a new original usb cable the before cable which i used was a cheap usb it can connect many phones
the story is that when i connect the iphone to the computer with the cheap cable it gives a sound of connection
but when i connect it with the original usb cable no connection happened

  • HT1345 If you have an iPod Classic with BlueTooth adapter, will the connected device control play, pause, skip etc.?

Wanna connect one to my cars Bluetooth, but I want to know if the car will be able to control the playback, or if I'll still have to use the controls directly from the iPod.
    Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure, but my gut feeling is that you'll need to run the controls from the iPod still, but why not just give it a try anyways?

  • What is the most efficient way to create an image with no background?

When I create, or use, a logo, or type, or any graphic image,in a design, I want to import it to InDesign with no background - "transparent", if you will.
The steps involving importing from PShop seem convoluted, at best, with bitmap, greyscale and eps files... I know I am on the wrong track with this process, since it never seems to work.
Also, wish to import from Illustrator and sometimes Painter12.
Is there a quick'n'dirty way, or a best way, to do this?
    Thanks, forum people!

First, it's OK to combine responses into a single post. Everything goes to the forum, not the individual, so we all see it all,so to speak.
Double clicking the background or duplicating it are just different paths to the same end, and you pick one based on what you are doing, as much as anything. "Background" in Photoshop is locked for transparency, so if you need a tranparent background you MUST do something. If I know I'm not going to need to do other stuff, I probably would double-click and convert the layer just for convenience and to reduce the file size, but if it's a client file or I know I may need to add adjustments and so forth, I usually will duplicate the background (even if I don't need transparency) and turn off the original. This gives me an untouched backup position and a source for making more copies, if necessary. I don't like doing any sort of destructive edit without using a copy of the original data.

  • With OS 10.4.11, what is the most efficient back up system?

Using OS 10.4.11 on a PowerPc G5, what is the most efficient way to backup?

Look at Mac Backup - Mac Backup Software, Hardware, and Guides for Your Mac http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/tp/backuphub.htm and  Mac OS X data backup FAQ http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html  and Important Mac Backup Tips- Time Machine, CCC, SuperDuper http://mikosweb.com/it-advice-blog/70-mac-backup-tips Here's a list/description of Mac backup software http://www.pure-mac.com/backup.html
The majority of Mac users use CarbonCopy Cloner @ http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html , or SuperDuper @ http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html . You can also use or the Restore function of Disk Utility included in OS X.
When you backup, boot into Safe Mode (depress the Shift key at startup) and the backup will be safer and faster.
