I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation and it's acting weird. It looks to be something like a calibration error but i don't exactly know. It won't let me tap letters and symbols such as ' ; R and D'. Help?
So my iPod Touch forth gen is acting up. When i try to slide the button to unlock the lock screen, it slides back. It takes several tries for me to do that. I'm able to tap the numbers for the code, but when i try to send messages to my friends or write one of my fanfictions, it goes haywire. It'll enter in letters and words that i didn't even tap on. When i try to tap on a couple of things in particular, it ignores it. '; R D and ~' are some of the letters and symbols that I'm having issues with. Can someone please tell me what's going on? I've restarted it dozens of times, re-entered my passcode, deleted data, and even re-downloaded the keyboards a couple of times. Help!
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I have an iPod touch 4th generation running iOS 6.1, and my grandma's iPhone 4 could upgrade, so I thought I'd try it out on my iPod. I go to software update u set my system settings, and it doesn't do anything! It just stays still and says "Checking for Update." I pressed the home button and tried again, but the same error occurred. I do not have a computer, but I do have an Internet connection? Is there any way that I can upgrade my iOS to the latest edition without a computer? I cannot reset my iPod, and I have so much stuff on my iPod it'd take forever. Please help!
You can connect to any computer and do it but it is a lot of work. When you restore after following the following instructions and iPod will also be updated.

The issue is my ipod is locked and i'm not able to type in my passcode because the numeric keypad isn't working properly.For ex. when i hit 8 (which is the second number in my passcode) the number 5 type in. If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. I have an ipod touch 4th generation and have just recently downloaded the new update. I was wondering why the videos that I had added in my playlist won't show up. Is there anyway that I could get my videos to appear in my playlist? They are still in my ipod in the video section, but just won't appear in my playlist.
iOS6 problems aplenty ....not sure if the link I inserted is working or not, but the issue is a lot more prevalent - the issue being that what shows up & plays in iTunes after the iOS6 update is not what shows up (& plays) on the device itself. This may go beyond just the iPod Touch as well.
In my case I can see & play both audio & video files in my Playlist through iTunes, but can only see the Playlists on the iPod Touch with ALL of them being empty. Syncing numerous times no help. Contacting Apple Tech. Support no help - they suggested downloading my Purchases from the iTunes Store - waste of time, did not make a difference. It is clear Apple needs to release a fix to OS6.
Another problem I noticed on the device is that the Shuffle option is hidden on the built-in Songs Playlist, having to swipe the screen down to see it - dumb dumb dumb. -

I'm guessing you have Itunes on your computer, So when you go to plug your ipod touch in and itunes opens if it is syncing to your computer it will come up with "Syncing" and whatever the name of your ipod is. Click the (x) on the right hand side and it should stop the sync. After you have stopped the computer syncing you now have to click on the icon that has your ipod connected (so if it is called Ipodtouch click on that) then it should say in the info section IOs update or something like that and click on that. This will update your ipod touch to the latest IOs without syncing and/or deleting your apps. Once you have updated the IOs the apps will be synced with your computer automatically.

This problem happened to me a month ago. The way I used to fix it:
1. Go it DFU Mode. For going into that, check this page.
2. Connect your iPod to your PC which has iTunes and iTunes will detect your iPod in recovery mode.
3. Press Shift + Restore if you have the .ipsw firmware file downloaded on your windows PC or just click Restore and follow the instructions to download the firmware file.
4. Wait and finally you're done!
