I have OSX 10.6.8 and i am told i need 10.7.4 to get the latest version of imovie how do I go about this?
I have an iMac running OSX 10.6.8. I currently have iMovie version 8.0.6 and would like to upgrade iMovie to iMovie 11
I am told I need Mac OSX Version 10.7.4. How do I go about upgrading the operating system.
Many Thanks
Not so. iMovie 11 works fine with Snow Leopard.
As for upgrading your operating system:
You can purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

The App Store says I have updates for I-Photo and Garage Band. When I try to update I get the following message: You have updates available for other accounts To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." Both apps came with my computer and as far as I know I only have one Apple account. Any thoughts? Thanks.
KarenThanks for you reply. I'm 99% positive that I'm using the user id and password that I used to set up my computer. That's why I'm stumped. I read the solution someone else suggested (type your user name without @gmail and create a new password. When I tried it, I was asked for my birthday. It didn't recognize it. I know I got my birthday correct. Oh well...

Is it necessary to have both installations, ps cc and ps cc(2014) on my pc, or can I deinstall the older version?
It is up to you, since it is a full install. However some keep the other version for awhile in case there are any bugs. But if you are cramped for space, there is no reason why you can not reinstall later on if you do find a bug.
Keep in mind that uninstalling could change your file associations, so be prepared to fix them manually or reinstall 2014 to fix it. -

I have a mac book pro that i bought in late 2009. My current software is snow leopard version 10.5.8. I would like to get the new lion operating system but I cant without first getting the latest version of snow leopard. however when I go to update my software it doesnt show that any update is available.
10.5.8 is Leopard, not Snow Leopard. You need the Snow Leopard DVD;
You can get it only by phone now from Apple.
In the US, call 1-800-MY-APPLE and ask for a sales assistant. Last quoted price was $19.99 for the single-user and $29.99 for the family licence.
For other countries, check here; http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
Don't forget to ask for Sales; the tech support guys can't help.
If you want Lion, rather than Mountain Lion, the same Sales team can give you a download code to use at the Mac AppStore.
To get the App Store, you need to update your new Snow Leopard from 10.6.3 (which is the version on the installer) to 10.6.8 with the combo update; http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Be warned that the upgrades will render a lot of older software unusable, and will need new drivers for printers and scanners in all likelihood. -
When I first pull up Firefox it often says I'm not using the latest version. I go to the download page and start the download. Then when its completed and the start page comes up it usually says I don't have the latest version. I went through 8 downloads on Wednesday January 4 before I got the latest. Why didn't I get the latest version the first time I downloaded.?
Firefox 9.0.1 is the latest release version.
Which page do you have set as your Homepage or Start Page?
This - http://www.google.com/firefox - is the old Firefox Start Page used by the Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox. Not being maintained by Google and it shows all versions of Firefox as needing to be updated, even pre-release tester versions that are months away from being released to the public at large.
Starting with the Firefox 4 version, Firefox is using a "local" Start Page with the address of '''about:home'''. It looks similar to the old Start Page, but it isn't exactly the same. -
I have Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 what do I need to do to upgrade to the latest version of software??
Depends what MacBook version you have.
Go to > About This Mac > More Info > hardware overview (should open at that usually).
Check the model identifier (MacBook4.1 or similar)
Check Processer Name
Processer speed
Memory
Specs for Snow Leopard (10.6.x)
And for Lion (10.7.x);
Note that the memory quoted in those specs is absolute minimum for each OS - 106 really needs at least 2GB and Lion 4GB -
What is the latest version of iMovie for MAC and how do I download it?
What is the latest version of iMovie and how do I download it? Will is work with MAC OS 10.6.8?
The current version may be obtained at the App Store. If you have an older version installed, then it should be available in Updates. The new version will not work with Snow Leopard.

I am running on OS X 10.5.8, how to I get the latest version of iCal??? I have my computer since 2009, I am running on OS X 10.5.8, how to I get the latest version of iCal??? I have my computer since 2009
You need to install a newer Mac OS X version to get a newer version of iCal. If you're using a PowerPC Mac, you can't upgrade the OS or iCal further.

I have Final Cut Studio 2, which I've never installed. Can I upgrade it to the latest version of Final Cut Studio, or would I need to buy the latest version?
Thanks, CaoimAs an alternative, you could purchase FCP-X, which isn't an upgrade; it's a completely new application. To quote Apple; "It's revolutionary!" To quote me; "It blows!"
BTW, Final Cut Studio 2009 was also known as FCS 3. You might be able to find an upgrade version on ebay or craigslist.

I recently Brooke the screen on my iPhone 5. I need to cases my data and would like to remotely set up iCloud on my broken 5 using my iPad. How would I go about this?
Took my phone to the Apple store this week and they told me it was a hardware/screen malfunction. They replaced the screen for free since it was under warranty. Now it works fine again!

Why does the latest version of iMovie not have an option of sharing with iDVD?
How are you supposed to burn a DVD using the latest version of iMovie? I've always had the option to share to iDVD and now it's not there.
It is there but you don't want to use it as it will degrade the quality of the movie. Instead use the Share ➙ Media Browser option.
Then in iDVD go to the Media/Movies section and drag the movie into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones that may be there:

I am having trouble opening .mov videos with Quicktime on my PC with Vista. I installed the latest version of Quicktime for Windows (V.7.7), and upgraded it to Pro. It will open a .mov file once, then after that it will not open any .mov file and in fact, when I try to open the Quicktime player it will not open itself. If I switch users to Admin, it all works fine, but when I go back to my regular role (where all of my preferences and programs are there for me to use), the same thing happens. An .mov file will open once, then never again, and the Quicktime player seems to be disabled.
I've tried different .mov files, so it's not a corrupt file that's the problem. And, in the past (a couple of Quicktime versions ago, I guess), all of this worked just fine.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated!I have the exact same problem. They play on my Mac under Snow Leopard. Transfer to Vista gets a window with black and white and some other noise. No sound either.
