I have snow leopard.  Using iCloud, I can receive email on my mac, but, suddenly, I am no longer able to send email from the mac.  I can send it from iCloud online.  Any thoughts on how to regain the abilty to send email from my mac?  Thanks.

Install ClamXav and run a scan with that. It should pick up any trojans.

I have Snow Leopard OSx on my MacBookPro. I would like to upgrade to Mt.Lion. OSx but am only allowed 3 gigs/mo download of data from my internet provider. I've attempted to purchase a CD from Apple store but they said it's only available through on-line downloads. How can I upgrade?

  • Want to restore from Lion back to snow leopard using my Drobo-Fs.  Lion is my current OS but due to lack of support for powerpc applications I want to go back.  Has anyone done a complete restore from TimeMachine on a Drobo-Fs?

I tried to do this as follows, 1).  Using the install DVD for snow leapard I booted up the mac, 2).  Went into terminal and mounted the Drobo-Fs.  3).  Followed the usual Restore from steps.....
It took around 8 hours just to come to the point of actually starting the restored....and then calculated like +1000000 hours to complete the restore.  So I cancelled it.
Not sure, I mean the drobo-fs backs up data, but can it actually restore(full restore) via TimeMachine is my question.

I'm about to throw my Drobo FS out the window.  It's performance is so erratic.  Right now the green access light is on continuously, yet there's no IO from my mac.  Since upgrading to LION (and finally upgrading the drobo software), I can't log on to the drobo any more. The drobo app says the unit is healthy.
I know that the drobo does internal work from time to time, but there's no way to find out what it's doing. No user feedback at all.  Thank goodness I only use it for regular backups and not time machine. Time to move on.

Yes, I just changed my browser to Internet Explorer and same result, I

I have not tried un installing adobe but that is next, then reinstalling

I'm trying to migrate from mobileMe to iCloud but I have Snow Leopard (the latest version). It looks like Lion is no longer available because Mountain Lion comes out next month (July). The problem is mobileMe ends on June 30th. How can I migrate?
My iphone and my ipad are compatible but when I try to go to icloud on my phone it says to do it on my computer.
I would like to have my calendar, contacts, etc.. all sync like they do now. Is there a way to upgrade before June 30th? If not, will the gap be an issue or will I just be able to buy mountain lion and sync everything?
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you!

You can buy Lion in the App Store now, but move to iCloud now. If you wait to Mountain Lion, you will only have Mail in Snow Leopard, so you will lose syncing unless you use Lion or Mountain Lion. It's up to you

  • My Mac Book Pro will be 4 years old in Sept. I now have Snow Leopard and bought an IPhone 4S this week. I know I need Lion to use ICloud. Can I upgrade to Lion with a computer this old?

My Mac Book Pro will be 4 years old in Sept. I now have Snow Leopard and bought an IPhone 4S this week. I know I need Lion to use ICloud. Can I upgrade to Lion with a computer this old?

As long as it meets the minimum requirements:
    Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    At least 2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space on hard drive
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

I have snow leopard 10.6.3 and want to upgrade so I can use Icloud. What do I need to do?

    Taken from Apple Website....
    OS X Lion system requirements
To use Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended); you can install without Mac OS X v10.6 by using an OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive, available on the Apple Online Store
7 GB of available disk space
    2 GB of RAM
If your Mac does not meet these requirements, you will need to  upgrade your Mac before installing Lion.
In other words, FIRST UPDATE your system to 10.6.8.... 10.6.8 will install the MAC APP STORE on your computer.. SECOND.... Buy Lion from MAC APP STORE (you may need to  create an Apple Login and Password). THIRD... Launch the LION installer and follow the on-screen instructions. Made sure to install ONLY THE COMPONENTS, don't ERASE your system before install. This way you don't lose your data (pictures, music, documents, etc.)

Sorry, but that is correct. You need Snow Leopard to sync your phone and the latest version of iTunes and you old G5 cannot run that.

My iMac is connected to a Brother printer. I have Snow Leopard 10.7.3 As of yesterday, when I try to print a PDF it prints as a blank black page. Does anyone know how to correct this so that the PDF will print as I see it on screen?

If you are running Mac OS X 10.7.3 then you have Lion installed, not Snow Leopard. It's probably not important to this discussion, but something you should be aware of.
What application are you printing the PDF files from? Have you tried opening the PDF file using the Preview application that can be found in the Applications folder? Does the issue still occur? Have you tried other PDF files from a different source?
Another poster in the following discussion thread reported that this method resolved their black blank PDF issue when viewing (and presumably printing) PDF files from Safari.

This solved my question by mcbuffy  on Apr 20, 2012 11:29 AM
There's a solution if you want to see the PDF inside Safari's window :
Go to the folder : Your Hard Drive / Library / Internet Plug-ins.
If you see a file with PDF in its name drag it to the trash.
Quit and restart Safari to test with a PDF.
If it works you can empty the trash.

You can directly install Mountain Lion 10.8.0 to 10.6.8, and then apply the 10.8.2 Update.
    Hope this helps

If they are the grey discs which came with the iMac, then they will be machine specific and will not work on the MBP anyway. You will need to purchase a retail copy of Snow Leopard from the Apple Store for about $29 and upgrade from that. I presume your MBP is Intel and not G4.

  • HT204053 I have snow leopard version 10.6.8 how do I get my email?

I have snow leopard version 10.6.8. How do I get my email now?

Apple states that you can get it through the website iCloud.com
However, you can also use your mail account if you set it up manually.
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

  • My macbook was bought in June 2006 and I have snow leopard but don't think I can upgrade any further.  Am I right in assuming that I also can't register my macbook for icloud as it is too old?

Am I correct in assuming I can't upgrade a macbook bought in June 2006 to Mountain Lion?  And if this is the case does it mean my macbook is too old to register for icloud?  I have my iphone backed up to icloud but am having trouble then plugging it into my macbook and syncing the calendars.  I need to keep my phone syncing with icloud so that my husband can access my calendar on his iphone but would like it to also sync with the calendar on my macbook.  Make sense?  Sorry if it seems confusing.  Imagine me..lol

Correct. You would need to install 10.7.2 or later to use iCloud. See the following:
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • How do I install Mountain Lion - I have snow leopard ?

    I am completely confused
I have Snow Leopard - Mac OS X 10.6.8  on my Macbook 7,1
    I have XCode 3.2.3
Want to upgrade to Mountain Lion 10.8
Downloaded a huge dmg - about 1.7 GB from iOS Dev center ( am a registered user here after I paid USD 99 )
Clicked on ' Technical Resources and Tools ' >> Clicked on 'Downloads' under ' Resources for iOS6 ' >> See a XCode 4.6.1 option to download
    It also says :
    Posted Date: March 14, 2013
    Build: 4H512
    Included iOS SDK: iOS 6.1
Included Mac SDK: Mac OS X 10.8
Finally got the download complete ( have very poor network connectivity at home )
double clicked it and it opened a window where I dragged and dropped it
something happened and in 'Applications' XCode is shown but with a prohibitionary image on the icon
If I double click it - it says :
"You cant use this version of the application Xcode with this version of Mac OS X - You have Mac OS X 10.6.8 The application requires Mac OS X 10.7.4 or later "
which is fine - I downloaded this dmg because it said it had Mountain Lion
The way I thought this would work is the installer would upgrade to Mountain Lion and then XCode - but I dont see anything apart from XCode
    Please help
    satish

Firstly, you cannot get Mountain Lion as a developer for iOS. You have to become a registered OS X developer. Secondly, if you want Mountain Lion then open App Store, sign in with your Apple ID, purchase and download Mountain Lion.
XCode is not Mountain Lion and Mountain Lion was never included with XCode.

  • Recovery of Snow Leopard using the original install DVD

    Hi everyone,
    I encounted the following problem:
Somehow a folder called "private" which had a lot of system files ended up in the trash. I tryed to empty it - it wouldn't let me do that, saying "the folllowing files.... are in use". Tryed to move back the folder - the computer wouldn't accept my password.
After re-booting, the computer doesn't start at all.
    Tryed the following:
    1. Starting with "command" + R, getting into disk utility. Veryfied and repaired - it says the "disk appears to be ok". Still no luck with starting up the comp.
    2. Tryed to reboot from the original installation DVD (I have Snow Leopard). Message appears: "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer".
All I am trying to do is to SAVE the files before I can use the "Time Machine".
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

From the recovery partition, open the Terminal and enter the following on a single line:
    mv '/Volumes/drivename/Users/homename/.Trash/private/' '/Volumes/drivename/private/'
replacing the underlined text with the actual names.
