Does it happen with the apps that came with the iPod?
Does it happen with all apps you have downloaded/installed?
Have you ried deleting the apps and redownload/install the apps? You will not be charged again if you are signed into the same iTunes account that originally purchased the apps.
Next would be to restore from backup
Last would be to restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

By updating the iOS on the iPOd. The 1G can go as high as 3.1.3. That works with a lot of apps. But some apps require a higher iOS and/or newer iPod.

The Genius playlist and the 1st Generation ipod touch
I am just wondering, is the genius playlist ability not available to the 1st Generation iPod touch or does it only work on certain songs?
Because it would be really annoying if they limited to the 2nd Generation iPod touch only.Another post here said to just go ahead and resync your iPod and it should start working. And it did for me. If that does not work make sure that genius is enabled on your iTunes, otherwise it will not add the functionality to your iPod.

Purchased items not in library but itunes says it is already downloaded. It is in my i-phone library but when I try to download ot computer, it will not let me. It acknowledges that it is already purchased but says it is already donwloaded. It is not.

This weekend I purchased the software update for the 1st generation touch from iTunes to update it to version 3.1.3. Prior to the update, the iPod was still 100% working. The only reason I paid for the upgrade was so I could get the App Store. Since upgrading, approximately 50% of my songs won't play. When the problem occurs, the album art will show up on the screen, but after a few seconds of silence, the "play" button pops up indicating that the song paused or stopped. If I push play again, it looks like it will play for a second or two, but then it does the same thing. Then if I skip to the next song, and its a song the iPod likes, I can hit play and that song will play without a problem. All the songs on my iPod have been downloaded from iTunes or ripped from CD's I purchased, so it's not like I have a bunch of shady, corrupt music files. I'm just frustrated because Apple wants to charge me for support since this is an older product. However, the product was working fine until the other day when I PAID for their software update. If anyone went through a similar issue and has info it would be much appreciated.

We were given this iPod touch from a friend. Here is what I have done so far. Reset it back to factor settings. Added my music. Set up the wifi through my home internet. And it keeps telling me that it cannot connect to iTunes. Don't know what else to do. Have tried to look on this community for answers and haven't found ones that I haven't tried yet.
