you could try forcing it into recovery mode by turning it off, hold the home button and plug it into iTunes at the same time, keep holding the home button until iTunes says its detected a device that needs to be updated or restored. Then restore.

It sounds like you are wanting to update the Apps that were synced over from your computer to your new iPhone 5s. If you are clicking Updates in the App Store in the bottom right corner, would you mind clarifying what happens when you are trying to update them?

Size is not the issue. In the old iPhoto you used to be able to share a video and it would compress it to fit an email friendly size. It doesn't do that anymore from iPhoto. I miss that feature. I have to export the video from iPhoto to my desktop then take into the old Quicktime 7 to share in email. Crazy.
It shouldn't be that complicated. I shouldn't have to find a work around. I guess apple wants to put you in a box so you have to do it "their way" via uploading to iWeb or iCloud instead of emailing video.
I don't like those options being taken away. While the quality may suffer by compressing for email, it is still the most direct and unconvoluted way of sharing something fairly quickly. I don't want to have to post to YouTube or Vimeo or iCloud and send a link. Just compress the video and hit send in an email and be done with it.

IPhone 4S fell on some water, was working but now won't work. I got a replacement coming. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone if it wasn't damaged? Will I get my pictures and contacts and messages back if it wasn't damaged?

My iPhone 4S accidentally fell into a very shallow bit of water. The phone was wet, but worked afterwards for a short bit. Now it's not working, so I called and got a replacement phone coming. Same exact phone. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone without harming anything? I don't know if the sim card got messed up or not, but I had a lot of pictures and messages and my contacts on my phone, and I assume these were on the sim card or am I wrong? I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.
Ralph - F.Y.I. I would be happy to back up the iPhone if I could turn it on LOL......I am pretty positive I did, but what about Text messages? ANY of those saved too or not? Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. I bought 27 hypnosis sessions through "sleep soundly" app when I had my iPhone 4 when I upgraded to the 5 and tried to get those sessions on this phone it crashes. It is like too many at one time are downloading at once and it crashes. Then I have to delete app reinstall and start over. I have managed to get up to 11 on the phone at one time but when I try to get the rest it crashes and back to zero. Do anyone have the issue and do you know how to prevent it?

How do I use the iPhone 5 to make a video with a synched soundtrack?

I want to record a music video for a song. The audio of the video would just be a song (presumably playing from my iTunes). The video would be a P.O.V.-style shot taken with my iPhone 5 (walking around the street, for example). I would like the audio of the song to be synched with my movements. In the sense that a) there is no street noise, b) it's just the clean studio track for audio, c) the audio is playing in my ears (headphones via the iPhone's headphone jack) and d) because the audio playback inside the iPhone is synchronous with the video recording inside the iPhone, the video looks sharp (for example, any "air-drumming" would be synched well).
I hope the description makes sense. Is the above possible with the iMovie app? Happy to pay for the app. Just want to make sure it's equipped to do this. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

You would need imovie to do that on the phone. It costs $4.99 on the app store

Sharing an Apple ID is never recommended for these reasons.
They can create their own: http://appleid.apple.com and you can add them at the addresses they use for their ID.
Sharing an Apple ID is not recommended because all of your data gets merged and when it gets deleted from one device, it deletes from them all, such as Contacts.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. If you did not do step 4 properly, start all over again.

If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings
