Restore...
Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.
Of course, you can always wait for 22,051,536 minutes!

  • I have the iPod touch 3g, and I've updated the version to 4.2, is that the most recent version i can get?

When I try to buy newer apps in the store, it says to update my iPod to a newer version; 4.3 etc. But whenever I connect to iTunes, it says that 4.2.7 is the most recent current iOS. Is 4.2.7 the highest version my iPod can get?

Are you sure you really do not have a 2G iPod? Those can only go to 4.2.1

    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
If you really have a 3G iPod those can go to 5.1.1 and you update by

  • I have the iPod Touch 2G and the transfer purchases is not working

I have tried to sync my ipod 2nd generation to my computer by transfer purchases but when i go into the apps tab and sync it after checking the box for apps i keep getting the erase and sync, i try to do the transfer puchases options again and it syncs but it stops randomly and i am not sure if it synced my 9.8GB of apps on my ipod and i am on the 4.2.1 software and am in need of dire help to fix this i need to eventually reset my ipod to clear it off and i dont want to do that without getting all my apps synced first PLEASE HELP! I AM FREAKING OUT AND HAVING MAJOR TROUBLE WITH THIS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN BEFORE SINCE I HAVE GOTTEN MY IPOD PLEASE IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME FIX THIS THAT WOULD BE GREAT

Did you try to connect to your computer, launch iTunes, right click on your ipod in the device list and choose "transfer purchases"? This will copy all bought media without syncing your ipod.
Apps can also be downloaded again for free: Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • So i have the ipod touch 4thgen and the speaker stoped working right after i got it and i was dumb and didnt return it because it started to work. but now about a year in it only randomly works like one time every month. that lasts for 10min then stops?

so i got a new ipod touch 4th generation and about three days after the internal speaker stopped working. i was dumb and didn't return it because it worked again for about a month and then stopped. and i was pass the 90 day return time. so i am screwed and now the speaker will work for about 10 minutes every two months so it isnt that handy to me. i know it isn't blown because it will randomly work and when it does i hope it doesn't turn off. i have seen allot of things about this and i think that it is a apple ipod think because allot of other people have this problem. so i think it is great that apple has made these products it is just sad that u pay 200$ for something that breaks after two months. i think they should do a free replacement for any product that has a malfunction because it isn't my fault it is broken and then they expect u to pay another 75$ so they can take it just to give u a refurbished one that will do the same thing.

Walk it into the nearest Apple Store, politely describe your issue and see what they say there.

  • My ipod touch is in flight mode is disabled for 22 645 420 minutes and wont connect to itunes??

    Can you help?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

You can update it to 4.2.1

It all depends upon your uses and preferences. The iPod had a bigger screen and is physically bigger and has an option cellular radio.

can you give the way to unlock them?
    Thanks in advance.......

The only way to do that is to connect to iTunes and erase the data. If iTunes will not let you restore by prompting for the passcode, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
