I have two ipods. one was set up with my computer and then the computer crashed. now i try to set them both back up and it says if i sync then it will erase all because it was set up with another itunes library. how do i fix this?

i have 2 ipods. one was synced with my computer before it crashed. now i have my computer back and i am trying to sync both so we can share music. it wont let me put the songs from the one before in my library because it says its already synced with another library. how do i change and get it so the music from both can be shared?

A couple of other items:
1) I am guessing Apple does not keep a history of all my music purchases? As I did not have my entire library backed-up anywhere, and relying on the music I have on my ipod and my iphone as my only source of itunes music....I have lost over 500 songs!!!
2) I used to have an Apple account under another account name, and since have switched to a new account name. Is there anyway to find the history of purchases from my old Apple account name and transfer these over to my new account name and onto my new laptop?

The iphone/ipod is NOT a storage/backup device. Not maintaining a backup copy is a big mistake.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone/ipod to your computer:
Authorize your computer for all accounts and then click File>Transfer Purchases

You can either manually mange or sync, not both.
If you change from one to the other, then it will erase the current content and replace with the content now selected.

Once you purchase or download an app it will always be associated with the Apple ID used to download it. When that app requires and update you must use the Apple ID and password used to download it in the first place. The only way around this is to delete the apps the require the old Apple ID and download or purchase them again with the new Apple ID.

The main solution for an iPod that has an exclamation point and folder on it is to restore it in iTunes (fixed my issue with an / folder, as well as many other users).
But, before you do that, you could try putting it into disk mode, as that has fixed a couple of / folder for users on here.

If the disk mode doesn't help, then proceed with a restore in iTunes.
If your iPod is failing to get recognized, then try going through the suggestions in this article:

Reboot the computer then try placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then restoring via iTunes.
Next try DFU mode.

Even though it is the same music in iTunes, iTunes does not see it as the exact same library because you had to re-add all the songs to it.
You will need to erase and sync and you iPod will simply end up as it is now.
It's like of your house burns down and you rebuild it exactly the same, it is still not the "same" house it was.

You do not merge libraries.
iDevices sync to one and only one computer.
If you want a single library, you manually move the content from one library to another... all content will still be associated with the Apple ID it was acquired with.
