I installed the Beta yesterday and FOUR times it has locked up for no obvious reason, so i had to return to the latest 3.6 version. Do you have an answer for this problem???
I do a Google search it locks-up. Other times it locks up for no obvious reason. I am using Windows 7. I never have any problems with the latest version of 3.6.
Even if I shut it down, I cannot open it again without re-starting my computer. So for me right now the beta version is useless!!!

Mike whether I create a folder within the Pictures Folder that iTunes uses to sync photographs or just copy them into the main folder the result is the same, I end up with Photo Library plus another album containing an identical set of pictures as contained in Photo Library.

Create a album: When viewing albums, tap Edit, then tap Add. Select photos to add to the new album, then tap Done. Note: Albums created on iPhone aren’t synced back to your computer.
Rename an album Tap Edit, then select an album.
Rearrange albums Tap Edit, then drag up or down.
Delete an album Tap Edit, then tap the delete sign.
Yes I can Add a new Album, but cannot delete an album already created. The delete sign does not appear.
In iTunes the only folder that I can see listed is the man one into which iTunes stores pictures, which I have named iPhone Photos.
When I look on my PC this iPhone Photos folder contains another folder named iPod Photo Cache and a multitude of folders created by iTunes, the named F00, F01,F02 etc etc. and a Photo Database file.
Now whether I create a seperate folder within iPhone Photos to store my favourite photos in, or just copy them all into the iPhone Photos folder without being encased within another folder, or create a folder inside the iPod Photo Cache folder the result is the same ...
I end up with Photo Library plus another album containing an identical set of pictures as contained in Photo Library.
I am going around in ever decreasing circles here and getting nowhere fast!! -

Not able to scroll up and down or touch the screen to go to another website. I can see everything on the page but the screen darkens a bit but everything is visible. Just no touch screen function. Can anyone provide me with a solution to this problem?
Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

I've been trying to think of a few ways of performing this task and I can't think of a solution I'm satisfied with.
Here's what's going on...
I have a static method that affects a JTextComponent. It adds a listener and modifies certain areas of text as needed with each key typed. Let's say, for example, that the listener looks for the words "Hello" and "Hi." If it finds "Hello" it converts it to "Hi" and if it finds "Hi" it converts it to "Hello." So someone tries to type "Hello World." After the user is done typing the "Hello" part is converts it to "Hi." Then as s/he keeps typing it will keep converting it back and forth between "Hello" and "Hi." What I want to do is make a set of tags that indicate what's done and what's not. Let's pretend to do it with html-type tags.
So after it converts the word once I would make the text "<converted>Hi</converted> World". Then when it's doing the conversion next key typed it will ignore what's in the tags. The problem is that I can't have the user see the tags.
I considered making it a subclass of JTextComponent and adding a variable that contains the coded message but that doesn't really fit with the rest of my program. Since this is static I don't have somewhere to store the data for the potentially hundreds of JTextComponents that will be affected. Another idea was to use the component's name field to hold the data but I can't guarantee its data and I may overwrite a name that another piece of the program depends on.
One last thought I was thinking is to divide the text using a character that doesn't display. Unfortunately I don't know of any such character and I think the component would try to display something anyway.
I'm sure I was pretty confusing so if you need some clarifying let me know.

I figured my exact specification would get in the way but I may as well just tell you exactly what I'm doing. The program converts text from our alphabet to another (namely hiragana and katakana). The problem I'm running in to is that I want to be able to switch "modes." As it stands if you're holding left shift it will convert into hiragana. If you're holding the right shift it will convert into katakana. If you're holding nothing down it won't convert it (leaving you with the romaji). The problem comes because when it's told to translate into a certain alphabet it converts the entire text. I need to be able to mark off different locations in the string so that it knows what to convert and what not to.
Does this make it any more clear? -

The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can boot from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted in Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support. -

I logged in to pay my bill via the app yesterday and my stored form of payment was gone. Since I wasnt at home I didnt have access to my checking account now nor a credit card. This is the first time in 14 years that my online account has had this issue and NO my stored card is not expired. My payment is now going to be late and i was going to get a new phone oin the Edge plan too. Am I going to get charged a late fee and does tgis affect my eligibilityafter 14 years of on time payments! And why did you wipe out my stored payment info?

Oh my goodness! That is not what we like to hear. Were you able to log in online not through the My Verizon App? Did it show the card available in there? Is this the same card that you have used for past payments? Let's look a little closer.

Hi. I tried to upload photos to Facebook from iPhoto yesterday and each time I try, Safari freezes and I have to force quit, and finder also freezes. This was all working fine a week ago and I have done nothing that I know of to the PC. Thanks

The last message had some more stuff in between the "Hello" and "Regards" - I have no idea what happened to it. But nevermind...
I started up the Mini with the modem in one usb, and the speaker system in the other (M-Audio Sonica Theatre) - I have one of the Minis that have only 2 USB (and one FireWire) ports. The firewire has the external drive connected to it.
So far, as I"m typing this, I AM able to be online and use iTunes simultaneously. (both SaFari and iTunes respond slower than if I was using only one or the other, but they ARE actually working - in addition to having Adium running) - So I think what you suggested ( that is was something wonky was the USB hub) was a correct, yet assessment.
Would you have any reccommendations for USB hubs? The only thing that I have connected to the hub under normal circumstances that would be constantly "running" would be the RadioShark (even though the Radio soft isn't playing - the blue light on the RadioShark is always on) - and the speakers naturally. Everything else is of the occassional variety - iPod Sync Cable, Dual Layer External DVD Burner, and a "pass thu" to the USB ports on my Hard Drive Enclosure (which had been unplugged before the problem was noticed). The hub I current use is the

The beta page and Test Pilot page come up EVERY time I use Firefox. Same information so why not allow us to bypass it after the 1st or 2nd or 3rd reading?

You are mixing different issues. I will address Numbers.
Has Numbers ever been installed on this new Mac? Did you have the Mac App Store version of Numbers or did you have the DVD version of Numbers?
You should be able to redownload a previous purchase of the Mac App Store version of Numbers from the Purchases pane after signing into your account.
If you had the DVD version, then you will need to install that from the DVD media. -
'Music' displays but won't play. Settings appear correct and iPhone (3G) is selected for output. Startup screen intermittently displays with the lower pause/play volume bar for no clear reason..... developed at the same time as play failure. Ideas????

Appearane of 'Music' functions (I>> > II <<I, plus volume slider) on the lock/log in screen (when first turning on the iPhone) thus far seems without pattern, i.e. regardless of which if any applications are up in the background, and indeed even when all have been quit.
All visual aspects of 'Music' appear normal after launch including the title scroll across the top in vertical mode. However, while pressing play (>) converts the play (>) icon to pause (II), selected song does not play and the elapsed time bar (upper end between the track count and the repeat/shuffle icons) remains stationary at 0:00 or at any point to which it is dragged. When using home sharing this same problem persists regardless of what output is selected.
Hope that may prompt a thought somewhere. -
i have one of the old macbooks and wish to hook it up to my tv. do i need a mini dvi to hdmi adapter plus a 3 rca phono lead with a jack for the sound. please help as im useless at this stuff. cheers
First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV. -
The App Store says I have updates for I-Photo and Garage Band. When I try to update I get the following message: You have updates available for other accounts To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." Both apps came with my computer and as far as I know I only have one Apple account. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I read the solution someone else suggested (type your user name without @gmail and create a new password. When I tried it, I was asked for my birthday. It didn't recognize it.
