I just backed up my ipod because I sold it and I am not quite sure how to access it to make sure I saved everything

If anyone could please help I just sold my ipod and backed it up on my computer, and I am not quite sure how to access the info to make sure it all got saved before I ship it off.

Unless you redeemed an iTunes gift card into that account. just start all over with the correct email address.
