I just bought an ipad2 which I love. I want to use my cell as a hotspot, but do not have iPhone. A friend is willing 2 give me an older one. With the right data plan, will it work as well as The newer iPhones? The older phone will save me money by avoiding long cell service contract.

Any phone that generates a hopspot will work, as long as you have a plan that supports tethering. Doesnt need to be an i phone.

Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

Yes. Check what version of OS X you have by going to your Apple menu (top left) and clicking About This Mac. It'll likely be 10.4 or 10.5, something like that. It's good to update your profile here on the Communities, too (you've specified 10.0.x, which is archaic in OS X terms).
If your MB is 6 years old, it's probably too old for Lion, but may be able to run Snow Leopard.

This is a user-to-user forum, so "we" don't have a policy. :-). However, it depends on where you bought it and what you mean by "just". The Apple Store has a 14-day return policy, many large 3rd party authorized resellers the same, but you'd have to check with the store.
If it is out of the return period, you can turn it into Apple's recycling program (http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/) for an Apple gift card, which can be used towards the purchase of a new iPad, but you'd be getting less than full value and might get a better deal with gazelle.com or eBay authorized resellers.

You need to plug the iPad into your computer that has iTunes installed on it, and activate it.

I agree. Mine is 64gb, and the most warmth I notice seems to be where I was holding it.
The result of excess heat would be that its battery would run down faster than it should. With a full charge, it should run at least eight hours, maybe ten. Someone mentioned that their iPad charge went down ten percent per hour.
The iPad normally stays on all the time, and is put to sleep by pressing the Sleep button. In the sleep mode, it draws extremely low current, so the battery does not run down for many days. With yours in the sleep mode, does it still get hot?
Regardless, I think the display problem is reason enough to take it to the Apple Store Genius. If there is no Apple Store near you, look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center. There may be one in your city. In the US, <United States>. Outside the US, <http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1434>.

No, you cannot seperate the audio and video stream.
You can use optical audio to a sound system (I use sony sound bar) and play the audio via that.

Yes, you need to install the iCloud control panel and enable Photo Stream on your PC.
