The way that usually works best is to move the entire iTunes folder folder from the current location to X:\iTunes where X: is the letter of the external drive.
If you moved the iTunes Media folder "by hand" instead of using iTunes to relocate the media folder then:
Move the main iTunes folder to X:\iTunes
Move iTunes Media inside it as X:\iTunes\iTunes Media
Press and hold down the shift key as you click the icon to start iTunes
Keep holding until asked to choose or create a library.
(If iTunes opens normally/with an empty library close it and go back to step 3)
Click choose and open X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Why my apps are not transferring from PC to iPhone 5? When I connected to PC the icon shows when I select apps it show 'will install' but it never show on iPhone, I re installed iTunes, deleted all apps and downloaded again but its not working pls help.
Next time an app update gets stuck try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons for10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. Wait till your iPad starts on it's own. Try now. Also YouTube is still available. If you can't find it the the app store go to the bottom of the app store page and tap purchased. All your deleted apps will be listed and you can reinstall YouTube from there.

I just installed iTunes on my computer, where I already have all my music. I went to Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and changed the iTunes Media Folder Location to where I have all my music, in the "Local Disk." But iTunes wont import all my music. Help?
Have you looked in the Music App on your iPhone? On the iPhone music is played by the Music App not iTunes.

When you say you have tried everything, it would help if you told us what you have tried to avoid duplication.
When you installed iTunes did you get any error messages?
Anyway, on the face of it it may be worth trying a separate install of Apple application support.
Uninstall iTunes again. Now open Apple Software update, assuming it is working.
It should offer to download iTunes. Don't do it yet, go to the Tools menu and select Download only.
Then download iTunes. Then go to the tools menu again and select Open download folder and you should see a collection of six files.
Before going on, can you get to this stage OK?
One further thing I would like you to check, are you ahving any problems with Windows updates? Could you check in Windows Update to see if there are any failures. -
My iTunes won't update, it starts to install then just says it can't. I decided to try uninstall it but it won't even uninstall anymore, there is some type of ERROR going on. I tried to just install iTunes from the website and that won't even work. I'm using a Windows Vista.

When I do this all it pretty much tells me to do is reinstall which doesn't really do anything at all. ... is at the heart of matters. The second one is the more familiar one. So we'll assume (to begin with) that the first one is a rare complication of the sort of install trouble that can produce the second one.
Rather than using Revo, I'd like to try using the Windows Installer CleanUp utility to clear the installation configuration information for your Apple Software Update. Unfortunately, doing so has become more difficult
ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove". Quit CleanUp.
Now try uninstalling (again without using Revo) iTunes and QuickTime. If those uninstalls seem to go through okay, restart the PC.
Now try the iTunes reinstall again. Does it hang with that "required module" error again? or does it install smoothly this time? -
I have windows xp sp3, run Mcaffee security software- when I open I-Tunes it does open however it will not connet to the I-Tunes store. Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

Hi all, I've been seeing a really weird problem with signing my HTML5 extension for Illustrator. I'm using the ZXPSignCmd tool to create a .zxp bundle and sign my extension from the command line. I'm able to install the extension using the Extension
