I like to see a forum section deals with just residentual Verizons Fios customers. .

I don't see one yet . It would be nice see a forum that just deal with customers various q & amd matters with the various fios features and how they work etc. I know the FIOS triple play , several people I know that have it , several months and still only have tiny clue on how the features there are, even using ch helper 131 and other verizon help chsnnels, plus there are tech feature info they need to know and more

I have no idea what you mean with your questions. But besides that, you need to go to the FiOS TV Technical Assistance forum and post whatever your issue is there, hopefully more clearly than you have here (or even better, search on Favorites first before posting, or take a look at the first thread listed in the "Top Kudoed Posts" area for that forum).
This is not the correct forum for asking FiOS questions, this forum is for making suggestions about the Community or the forums in the Community (as the title of this forum says).

  • Ok... so iOS5 has brought some cool (and useful) new features.... good job.  However, moving forward I would like to see even more "holding faith" with the overall philosophy of lots of devices interacting with a single data set.

    My first, and perhaps clearest, example here is iMessage.  It's great that I can take and reply to messages on my iPhone and on my iPad as if it didn't matter which device I use.  However, I spend most of my working day on my Mac, and it's a little annoying to have to use one of my other devices to send and receive messages when my most powerful device (my Mac) is right there under my finger tips.  I'm an iChat user, which has some great functionality, but of course it doesn't integrate with iMessage in anyway or Facetime for that matter, even though you can effectively do a "Facetime" call on iChat if the other person has the appropriate user account. 
    So my question/suggestion is - I wonder if there's a way of bringing iChat, iMessage, Facetime etc... all into harmony so that messages, video chatting, screen sharing etc... is dealt with under a single application.  I accept you may have it so that there is more functionality on, say, your Mac (e.g. screen sharing).  But the integration would still be helpful I think.
    Any thoughts (with the hope that Apple will also see these comments/answers/suggestions and take it as food for thought on product development)?
    Incidentally, and also for Apple's benefit, please don't read this message as as meaning that I don't like what's already been done!  It's great and I think it really is moving in the right direction.  It's just that there's still room for improvement.

    Ingest movie clips  
    You can ingest entire movie clips or a selected portion of the movie clips (partial ingest). You can also transcode the selected movie clips using more than one encoding option.
         Select File > Ingest. Alternatively, press Ctrl+I (Win) or Cmd+I (Mac OS).
         Navigate to the folder containing media, and click the folder. The contents of the folder are displayed in the center panel.
    Tip: To access folders from which you previously ingested content, use the menu above the panel.
         Do the following based on your requirements:
    To view content as Thumbnails, click the Icon View button.
    To view content as a list, click the List View button.
    To quickly preview the contents of a movie clip, drag the cursor across the thumbnail. You can also click the thumbnail and use the playhead to scrub the movie. Alternatively, use the JKL keys to control playback of the selected thumbnail.
    To change the thumbnail size of movie clips in the panel, use the Zoom slide bar.

  • Some things I'd like to see

    I don't know if these have already been addressed or if there is some setting that I've overlooked but I'll list them anyway. Here are some things I'd like to see different in Safari:
    1. "Save As..." or "Run". Not all files should go into one folder. Sometimes videos should go in its own folder, programs in another, as should pictures, etc. Also some programs have a file that needs to get ran in order for something else to get started. So there should be an option.
    2. View video or pictures in the web browser. Sometimes people will post a link to a video or picture and instead of viewing them in the browser, Safari tries and downloads it. Now I have to open the folder, clear the download manager's entry of the file, view the file, delete the file, and then empty my recycle bin. What a hassle! I'm sure Safari can give some native support to Mov or M4V files at least.
    3. Better website compatability. Even major sites like Chase for banking won't show up correctly because it didn't have Safari in mind but it shows up fine for IE or Firefox. I'd like to see some better code for that.
    4. Ability to sort bookmarks by name. I have imported all my bookmarks from IE just fine. But if I want to reorganize my folder by dragging the folder and moving it between folders, it won't let me. Instead, it opens up the folder like I want to add it between them. I'd like to see some better interfolder organzing with drag and drop or a "sort by name" option.
    5. This probably isn't a big one, but on some forums that have drop-down menus for searching (like forums), it just links down to a search box somewhere else on the page instead of providing the drop-down box.
    I love many of the other features that Safari offers but there are a few quirks that need to be addressed, IMO.

    I haven't experienced this. I prefer my movies to open in my movie player, so I can full-screen it and keep surfing. Pictures open in the browser for me, but I'm not right-clicking or anything special.

    Some websites require extra code to get the site to look like they wanted. This goes for ALL browsers. The web developers did not take Safari into mind, so they didn't program for strict CSS rules, or other things. However, as far as I can tell most sites work fine, they just "look" different. (Fonts look better imo.)

    Try Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks

    Is that the website? Some websites default to simple controls if Safari doesn't work with the preferred control.

    I would like to know the code to deal with a returned object of type A and then how to access the variables in A from c++.
    I have defined my method pointer as :

    Would I do something like jclass A_CLASS = env->FindClass("A");

    I do not understand the syntax to do the equivalent thing in JNI, specifically, how to cast the returned object from the CallObjectMethod function to be of the appropriate type, namely A, and then how to access those fields. You don't cast it. Didn't do so in your java code either.
    But you define how you are going to attempt to access any object in JNI. If you mess up it fails.

  • Dealing with the 255-field limit

    In one of my AW DB — a file with which I keep track of my student records, like grades and absences — I have 3 x 60 fields to count the absences, in each of the trimesters and the number of 50-minute class could be close to 60.
    The classes fields are labelled: '01', '02', ..., '60'; '2.01', '2.02', ..., '2.60' and '3.01', '3.02', ..., '3.60'.
    The value fields of each of those fields are: “ “, “.” and “f”. The default is “.”.
    The way for counting the absences of the 1st trimester, using 3 fields, i.e., the number of “f” is:

    This has been functioning well for some years.
    The problem appeared now, because I am going to teach classes to 5th and 6th year of another State School and those grades have 5 Math classes a week — instead of 4 classes. Then, I would need around 15+ classes fields for each trimester.
    But the real situation is that I can not create those extra fields because my DB has a limit of 255 fields and I already reached that number of fields.
    I can resolve this by using a single class field for a day that has 2 classes, and the options would be: “ “, “..”, “ff”, “.f”, “f.”
    Note: the option of a “ ” empty space or a double empty space are for the students that left that group; the options “.f”, “f.” are for students that were in one of the two classes of a day and the option “ff” is for the ones that were absents in both classes of a given day.
    The problem would be to count the absences: I know how to do it, using a lot of fields — but the limitation of fields is the big problem — and I am writing you to get a better solution.
    If I could create more fields, I would do the following for each of the trimester, say T.1:

    I am not surprised that you were able to write this script for me; it did not completely solve the task but it did an important portion. This is not the first time you wrote a script for me.
    Seeing the result, I thought that one could rewrite it the other way around, i.e.: with the fields and the field types of a given DB, one could write a script to build a new AW DB, with those fields. Of course, the first script to get those fields and field types should be deeper to extract the formulas of Calculations Fields and the options for the Value List Fields.
    Since I have 180 Value List fields with exactly the same options, it would be very much easier to have those in a SS module, before recreate — or just create — the DB. Besides those, there are a number of calculations fields, that are pretty much alike, with some adaptations. It would be very easy to redesign the DB.
    I am not asking you to do this, but I would not doubt that it is possible.
    The only thing that would consume time would be designing the layouts, unless one could be able to do this given, at least, the sizes of the fields (imagine that you have the sizes of most of the fields, say 60, inserted in a customized layout, instead of 1 inch width!); this would be really difficult, but here one question is too important, in order to recreate an DB file:
    *+Is there a way to import a layout from a DB file to another DB file with the same fields of this very layout?+*
    About the origins of AW and FMP: several years ago I pass some time playing at the FMP 3.0; after I saw the version 6.0 and later the version 9.0 — +it looks like some time I will see the FileMaker Pro 12.+
    I remember perfectly well that the creation of the fields in the FMP 3.0 was very much similar to ClarisWorks. After, I was able — seeing the templates — to create a relational DB with 6 to 8 files in the FMP 6.0. Of course, like Barry said, the learning curve is steeper.
    But I felt at home.
    It surprises me that both you, Yvan — on this forum — and Barry — on a direct message — said that they were created by different teams. My guess is that one copied the other.

  • How to deal with forum spam

    What is spam?
    Occasionally, someone (usually a brand new poster) will come along and start submitting posts advertising a product or service. Spam can also be defined as the same message being posted over and over again.
    We have guidelines in place to help prevent spam, as well as a number of measures that prevent certain keywords from being posted, but it isn’t fool proof and there are occasions when a spammer will go ahead and start posting about their product or service (which is usually completely unrelated to what the community is all about).
    What happens when a moderator sees a spam post?
    It’s very simple – we remove it as soon as possible. Spam posts tend to be a nuisance and the forum team have very clear and strict rules on what to do with spammers.
    The forum managers (Sean and Stephanie) regularly review the kind of spam posts that manage to get through our filters, and continuously update the forum database with the patters and keywords that only spammers tend to use.
    What happens if I see a post that I think is spam?
    There will be times when a forum member will see a spam post before the moderator on duty has had a chance to remove it. If that forum member happens to be a Community Leader, they will usually help out by removing the offending post to a dedicated private area for the moderator to then deal with.
    If any other forum member comes across this type of post, you can flag it to a moderator for review.
    To do this, you need to click on the “Options” dropdown against the post and then click on “Report inappropriate content”, as shown below:

    From what I remember, you needed Yahoo Plus (the "pay-for" service which allows POP access to email). Apparently you have this.
    You will setup Mac Mail to be the junk mail filter, instead of relying on Yahoo to decipher what is considered junk mail. I am not sure what Yahoo offers for preferences. With Gmail, junk is kept on their servers, and everything received in the inbox can be fetched from Mac Mail.
    Another thing to look into is IMAP access of your Yahoo account. This would allow you to sync all folders in your Yahoo account.

  • The AUR needs a forum section (rather than visa versa)

    The AUR needs everyone working together to suceed.  We need the users to put their PKGBUILDs in, do their voting and get some feedback on the interface and processes from the users.
    To do this we have the tur-users mailing list, which is great for contacting the TUs directly but maybe we need something more to get it going on this side of the community.
    Here are my proposals:
    Either:
    · Change the "Arch Packaging" section title to "AUR and Arch Packaging"
    · Add a new AUR sectionWhatever is choosen we then:
    · Move "AUR Package Requests" to the new location
    · add an AUR discussion and feedback board and move all the current AUR discussion thread there - headlined with a sticky linking to the tur-list and specifying what should be posted in the forums and what would be better related straight to the list - this reduces likelihood of people mailing the list for little reason.
    · add an AUR support forum - again headlined with a sticky to the AUR docs and any guidelines that get added to the wiki.  This will become the source of AUR FAQ for inclusion in the docs
    Personally I'd like to see this happen ASAP.

    Personally I'd like to see this happen ASAP.
    These are not bad ideas, if you all feel that this will help better the current situation. Let's be honest guys, most anything is better than the current situation. I don't know about an AUR support forum, I was thinking about writing the docs myself, and probably will this coming weekend. Support for the AUR is intended to happen in the bugtracker, not the forums. You might add a sticky about that too, btw.
    Another thing is that it might (no garauntee) actually get me to read the forums again, being that there is one board to come read, rather than parsing through all the other threads around here.

  • What additional OIM product documentation would you most like to see?

    I first worked with with OIM when it was still Xellerate v7 about 7 years ago.
    Despite attending the Thor training courses I found the product strangely impenetrable and often found myself in a position where I knew what I wanted to do but was unable to find any reference information or worked examples to tell me what the solution options were.
    After several years working with the Sun and IBM IDM products I'm now back in the Oracle world and determined to master the beast this time. However I am still unable to find quality, solution-focussed documentation and am therefore dependent on (and very grateful to) the members of this forum who provide their support and help.
    I'd like to ask therefore what additional documents would you really appreciate seeing in the OIM suite?
    Whether you're a developer, technical or business analyst or customer representative please let me know. I will collate responses, post a summary and send feedback to Oracle for their consideration.

    The OIM documentation is uniformly awful. I think it's a cunning evil plan by Oracle to "encourage" companies to engage Oracle's consultants to do the work.
    The writing style is really bad. There are paragraphs and paragraphs of really impenetrable text which you read six times and you still don't understand what they are trying to explain. Quite often all it would have taken to improve it was a picture or a concrete example. There are broken links in the docs, links to topics which the docs say will explain a term and it doesn't even mention it and references to documentation "books" that don't exist.
    We're just starting the implementation process here and the biggest lack we're finding is a "Where do I start an implementation?" guide. This would be a "big picture" document containing a high-level view of what the options are for most of the common tasks that are needed when started out. It could cover things like what the options are for doing an initial load of users from an existing system and if you have to deal with multiple trusted sources are you better of using connectors to reconcile with each of them individually or could some magic be done with OVD that would simplify the process.
    As a solution to the "where do I start?" question, I've seen suggestions in the forum that you should just get an installation up and running and then basically play about until you've worked out what you want to do. That's not a particularly scientific approach and makes it impossible to provide detailed implementation documentation and estimates up front for when the management wants to know when they are going to see some results from the product that they've spent a small fortune on.
    The Oracle By Examples that I have looked at are pretty useful, but I could do with about 10 times as many of them. How about writing your own connectors in Java? How about to creating the organisation's structure as groups in OIM based on tables in a database?
    A master index of all the books would be useful or at least the ability to search the complete documentation set. Having one place that had all the most recent documentation would also be a bonus.
    There seems to be lots of basic configuration information missing from the documentation. For example, can anybody tell me where the documentation for configuring challenge questions for self-service password resets is? I've looked and looked and haven't found anything.

  • New features I'd like to see in Prelude

    Prelude is a very cool program and I can see this becoming a vital part of the workflow.  I have noticed a few things that aren't perfect yet and would like to change.  I will file feature requests, but I am wondering if anyone else agrees with these, has any workarounds, or has other items to add to the list.
    1. Thumbnail view in the project window with hoverscrub.  Pr took a giant leap forward with Hoverscrub so you don't have to load each clip into the source monitor to preview, and PL could use this as well.  (The case could be made that PL needs this even more, since this will be a step in the workflow where you could be searching through clips even more than you would in the bins in Pr)
    2.  More efficient way to create bins and move clips in the project window.  Right now, when you create a new bin, it shows up at the bottom of the list of clips.  I have a project open with 500 clips in it - if there is a clip at the top that I want to throw into the new bin, I have to drag it down and wait for the list to scroll all the way to the bottom - slowly!  Such a big time waster.  It would be more useful if I could highlight a clip - or multiple clips - hit "new bin" and the clips would automaticaly be placed in the new bin.  Or, having the option to have multiple tabs in the project window (like Pr) could also alleviate the issue. 
    3.  The ability to send clips to a specific bin in Pr.  Right now, when you send clips over to Pr, they show up in the main project window.  If I have a bin structure set up there, it would be nice to target certain bins so the clips down't get lost in the higher level bin hierarchy.  For example, if I'm working in a bin that is nested in a B-Roll bin, nested in an interview subject and want to go back to Pl to find more clips, I would like the ability to have the B-Roll bin open, go to Pl, send a clip, and have it show up there in the proper bin.  Now, I have to navigate back to the top level and drag it to the proper place.  Not a huge deal with one clip, but working with lots of clips can get disorganzied pretty quickly.  One last note - some might say that all the Pl work should be done up front and organized there before going tp Pr, but I am finding Pr-Pl to work well together, using Pl as my sorting, metadata and organization tool concurrent with Pr.  Essentially, Pl is acting like a turbocharged version of Pr's Brower, Poject panel and metadata panel in a separate app.
    Any thoughts?

  • My top 5 items i'd like to see in the next FCX update...

    hopefully someone from Apple development reads this!
    Allow custom frame sizes for projects. a MUST!  not everyone is creating movies in a standard video format - videos are needed for e-commerce, display panels, and web banners that wont fall into a standard video formats.  (this is easy to do with FC7 and all other pro editing software out there)
    Paste attributes, like in FC7 - be able to select which attributes to paste (motion, filters, etc, or all)
    Batch processing of projects and compound clips -  must be a way to select multiple projects or clips and batch export or at least send them all to compressor as a batch.  There is no way for our company to use the software if we are forced to select each clip separately -
    Export using multiprocessors - this feature was removed with FCX 10.0.4 update - please bring it back!!!  (why would we want to lose good features like this?)
    I'd like to see simple color tags brought to FC PRO X.  it is a very easy way to visually see which projects/sequences/events are complete, or need to be exported, or need to be re-shot, etc.  It's a standard for apple applications, not sure why it is missing here.  Favorites don't replace a simple color tag -  (unless you can see some kind of indication that the item is a favorite, without clicking on it and opening it up - that defeats the purpose, for me at least.)
    and one last request  (for good luck...)  keyframing is very cumbersome in the new FCX.  There needs to be a much easier way to add keyframes than clicking on that tiny diamond box, or clicking on the transform - for EACH spot you want to keyframe...  also you can no longer hold the shift key to keep the motion on a single axis.  there needs to be a simple way to move the video left or right (or up and down) without effecting the other axis.
    I'm sure there are much bigger requests out there, but since my day to day use of Final cut is pretty basic - (we rarely use audio or advanced features)  it seems logical (to me) to get these basic functions back.  Unfortunately, we cant purchase upgrades and start using this software until at least the first three requests are met.  Until then we will continue to edit on FC7 - and when we are forced to upgrade our software, we hope the needed functions are available or we'll be forced to switch to Premiere, that already functions similarly to FC7.

    You don't need to add keyframes by clicking on the keyframe button at every point. You set the first keyframe value. Go to a different point in time and change the value and a keyframe will automatically be added.

  • IDEA!!! Great to see Apple and the Drummer for Logic! What I would like to see???

    Now what I would love to see and have talked to many that feel the same way, some  of my friends work with Aaron Carter, writers, to Kelly Clarkson, Foo Fighters to composers and many want a JOHN WILLIAMS ASSISTANT, maybe thats what it should be called? Assistant or Arranger? Basically, I have seen many take Band in A Box (NO LAUGHING YET), play a riff on the piano, then it puts together some great ok, fair arragements that you never would of thought to do. They then open Omnisphere, BFD (or some drum thing), Trilogy (for bass), and a SOFTWARE ORCHESTRA and they have insta song. Apple would do the best job and really wished they snagged giga studio? I have great ears, can tell CHINA vs AMERICAN 6L6 coke bottles apart, even easier vs EL34, or broken .10 cent capacitor. Which would cost you that glassy~shimmer sound, like fender has, so this should had been swooped up by Apple as it was the WARMEST SOUNDING SAMPLER EVER INVENTED - probably one of a few that have a working MAC copy - -but they were to slow  - by the time they had it, everyone ahd their own, OR they had (TASCAM) problems with security so when you get Kontakt, yeah, it might have great security but your paying for via the ROUND, WARM sound only possible by GIGA and Apple!
    Now, I don't want someone with ZERO TALENT to come in, push a button and poof, a song, they tried with MAGIC GARAGE BAND but never really developed it so all they songs sound the same.
    I would like to see a bass, orchestral, guitar, (although nothing beats playing) and especially an arranger where you lay down some notes and boom, a song is arranged for you.  Apple could do it.  Most that have Pro Tools also have LOGIC and most new hardware has THUNDERBOLT, so, if they put their minds to it, they would grab the pro's, prosumers in an instant and anyone on a PC would switch to mac just for the arranging as J. Wiiliams will play a few notes sometimes, and have an arranger write it out take off for a week or so and come back with a few versions.
    Apple could do that, have a button to push, save but try again>Man, just having a program that throws maybe plugins and so on into the channel and change with the push of a button would be geniuos.  Not to mention, start researching John Lennon, 65, 70, 75, 80 vocal chain, press a button, you have his affects/doubling, et-cetera. Plus Paul, Kurt K., Kelly Clarkson, everything from ROCK to metal to country and teen pop would be dope.
    Then have LOGIC self regulate via the spectrum analizer and change thinks around until it  was full as a great song with the guitar SOLO'd, should sound like poop, but when the rest of the mix is on, magic!

    I would like to see timer recording added to the next firmware. I have a Radioyourway LX and if my Vision M would do what the LX does, GAME OVER. Please add timer recording to the Vision M. Also bookmarking for the vovies would be nice too. I do not understand why that was left out?

    Movies do have a resume feature. It's not as good as bookmarks, but adequate for me. If I exit the movie, it remembers exactly where I left off the next time I go back to it. I doubt we'll see timed recordings, but send some emails to Creative, especially the developer relations section.

    Right now , I have access to some of the sound files but most are missing and all are incorrectly labeled.
    Is it possible to ("Library") these sound files or access them from logic?
