I'll appreciate your suggestions as Firefox is not opening. A window warns: "XULRUNNER. Error: App: Name not specified in application.ini"

When trying to open Firefox a small warning window labeled XULRUNNER is appearing, with the text: "Error. App: Name not specified in application.ini", and an "accept" button. When you click in "accept" the warn ing window closes, but then nothing more happens.
I have no idea what is going on. Any ideas?

This is most likely caused by Zone Alarm software. Please check http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/880170

  • My ver. 2.0.0.17 of Firefox wouldn't start and gave me an error that said "couldn't find applications.ini so I reloaded it and it upgraded to ver. 2.0.0.20.

My ver. 2.0.0.17 of Firefox suddenly, without warning, wouldn't start and gave me an error that said "couldn't find applications.ini and trying to start it in "safe mode" didn't work either, so I reloaded it... then it worked and it upgraded me to ver. 2.0.0.20.
Is this a common problem with just that version, or across the board?
I also downloaded version 3.6.3, will that suddenly have the same problem? Is there a quick fix if that happens again?

Hi Guys I have SOLUTION for that. I perhaps could not attach my file here but let me still tell you the solution.
You need "Application.ini" file from any other pc having Mozilla over it. There is no complex information in this file although. I will past code of that file here so you could copy that to your file as it is.
After doing this if you get any different error prompting for version error then open this "Application.ini" file again where you just copied code. and change the version (you will find version text on second line at end) to appropriate one according to the Error Alert you just encountered before.
    That's it.
    Application.ini File Code is below
(whole code must come in three lines, I can see line break special characters in special rectangular format)

  • Firefox 4 stops opening new windows after browser window dragged to second display

Firefox 4 stops opening new windows after browser window dragged to second display. It's weird. Behavior is fine until I drag any browser window to the attached second display, and after this point it stops opening new windows but will still open new tabs in the same window. Restart fixes it until I drag the window back to the second display.
"Show all bookmarks" stops working too--won't open a new window.
This is after clean reinstall with total deletion of any Firefox/Mozilla folders and the previously installed app and a restart of the computer.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br /><br />

  • Everytime I use firefox to connect to the internet I get an alert saying that firefox could not initialize the applications security component. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

When I use firefox to get on to the web I get the following message everytime: "Alert: Could not initialize the applications security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your applications pforfile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security feactures." Once I click the "OK button" at the bottom of the alert box firefox starts but does not act right. For instance it will not let me look for software updates. When I click on "Check for Updates" from the "Help" drop down menu I get a message stating: "There were problems checking for, downloading, or installing this update. Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • I used Computer Associates ver.7.0.0.117 to clear temp files and cache. Firefox won't open a window since though it shows in processes.

System: Toshiba Portege M750, Vista 32-bit SP2,4GB RAM
I've been using Firefox up until last night when I shut down. This morning I did a cache cleaning using CA Internet Security Suite, ver 7.0.0.117. Firefox will not open a window, though it does show in the Processes list of Task Manager.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled ver 6 from the web twice with the same results.
Firefox has had a tendency to hang (never finding a new website, i.e. busy icon revolves endlessly) when left open over several hybernation cycles.

    <u>'''Kill Application'''</u>
In Task Manager, does '''firefox.exe''' show in the <u>'''Processes'''</u> tab?
    See: '''[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application Kill Application]'''
'''<u>Causes and solutions for Firefox hanging at exit:</u>'''
    '''[[Firefox hangs]]'''
'''[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs#Hang_at_exit Firefox hangs at exit (Mozillazine article)]'''
'''[[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]'''
    <u>'''Safe Mode'''</u>
You may need to use '''[[Safe Mode]]''' (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox SafeMode is a diagnostic mode that disables extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes before starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
    See:
    '''[[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]'''
    '''[[Troubleshooting plugins]]'''
    '''[[Basic Troubleshooting]]'''
If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

  • Firefox won't open new windows or upload video

Firefox is starting to get on my nerves with this one. The program will be working fine and then suddenly stop opening new windows. For example, I'll take a quiz and want to upload my results to facebook. I'll click the button and instead of opening a new window for facebook, it does nothing. Another example: I'm taking an online course and if I click to upload a file, instead of opening a window, it does nothing. When I click the red X to close firefox, nothing happens. Also, the minimize, restore, and close window buttons no longer respond. I have to open my task manager and manually stop the process. I notice when I reopen the program, it offers to restore all of my tabs as well as windows that mysteriously never opened before. This has been going on for about a week now and it really is annoying. I also notice when this happens that firefox seems to be taking up an unusual amount of RAM on my computer. What gives?
I am using the most recent version of Firefox on a Dell PC and running the most recent version of Windows 7.

Thank you for your question. This sounds like a performance issue, please try these troubleshooting steps [[Firefox uses too much memory (RAM) - How to fix]]

  • Firefox won't open on WIndows vista & it has worked for years.

Used task manager, closed firefox.exe & restarted, worked twice & I disabled Norton Toolbar. Now firefox won't open. I uninstalled firefox and redownloaded it & still won't open. Search for the Profile Manager doesn't show anything.
I did download an HP update yesterday. I am using windows explorer for this since I have toahve that on my computer to access some citrix programs

Right mouse click the iTunes icon and select "Run as Administrator"

  • Firefox won't open and gives me an error that it is already open when it isn't.

Whenever Firefox crashes or I restart the computer, I get this message that I can't open a new browser because Firefox is already open.
I am using a MacBook Pro OS 10.6.7 and I have Firefox 5.0

I have the same problem when I'm trying to browse ringtones and stuff for my phone (browsing on my pc) on the site mytinyphone.com .. and when I click the "OK" button, it redirects the page that I am on to some other page, and when I click the back button in firefox to go back, it pops up and same thing happens.

  • When Firefox tries to open another window, I get a failed script message: Script: chrome://tavgp/content/libs/include.js:595 and I get asked to continue or stop it. When I stop it, the new window opens. How do I fix this?

Whenever I try to open another Firefox window (by right clicking on a link or if a link tries to open a window - like printing Google maps/directions), I get a pop-up window that says a script is busy or not responding and gives me the choice to continue or stop script. The new window will only open if I choose stop script. The offending script is always: Script: chrome://tavgp/content/libs/include.js:595
    How do I fix this?

That is a problem with an AVG extension or toolbar.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Aurora/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • FB01 - Really appreciate your suggestion

    Hi Everybody,
I have been trying out different ways of posting a FI document FB01 from
non-sap system(SAP Dot NET connector). As per my understanding the following are the best ways.
Direct Input (Old method and no control)
BDC (More authorizations needed for background user and new program)
    IDoc
Client is only willing to send batch files in the required format.
Out of the above 3 ways, as IDOC is comparatively new and efficient way, I opted for IDOC. Could anyone please tell me whether my decision was right?
Client does not want to make any new developments in SAP for this
interface for example he does not want to create new BDC program etc..
With minimal customizing or modifications how can I post FI batch
    records from Non-SAP to SAP?
Can I process multiple FI documents in one IDOC or do I need to create one IDOC for each FI document?
Please let me know if you need more details.
Thanks in Advance. I really appreciate any help.

    Hi Kriss,
When you use IDOC for distribution you need all the steps.
