I lost all my music, but it's still on my computer.
Hi Everyone!
A long time ago, I lost all of the music in my iTunes. All I could find in my itunes was the iTunes Library Extras music (eg Ninja Tuna by Mr Scruff). I hoped my music would come back when I updated my iTunes, but it didn't. Now I'm finally trying to crack the problem. And I've found all the music files. They're in a folder called iTunes Media, which is inside the iTunes folder.
So it appears that I still have all my music on my computer, but it's not referenced in the iTunes Library folder. The records are in the building, but they're not in the jukebox.
How can I restore the iTunes Library folder to the way it was? Following the advice of Apple support, I tried to find an older, undamaged incarnation of the folder in Previous iTunes Libraries. Alas, the oldest library in the folder was from 2012, and it was just like the others: none of my music, just the default iTunes albums.
So my question is: how do I get iTunes to go back to playing my music again? I'm guessing it will have something to do with the iTunes Library folder, but I'm really not sure what to do next. I really want to have all my music playing in iTunes, so that I can download new music from CDs and put it on my iPod. I have a lot of CDs full of music that I want to put on my iPod, but I've been afraid to try ripping them for fear of making my iTunes problem even more tangled. I've also been hesitant to connect my iPod to my computer, as I fear it will synchronize automatically and wipe all the music off my iPod.
Is there a way of transferring the albums from iTunes Media to iTunes Library? A way of rewriting iTunes Library so that it includes all my music? I feel like I'm over my head here.
Thanks for reading!
Thanks! As it happens, I went to the genius bar yesterday, and they had me do pretty much the same thing. Now I can play all my songs on my computer, in iTunes.
A new problem has arisen however: the songs aren't transferring to my iPod. I plugged the iPod into the computer, it gave me the synchronizing message, and then it told me I could unplug it, so I did, but none of the new music I downloaded has made it onto my iPod. Do you know why this might be?

My iPod just randomly deleted all my music, but I no longer have the computer where I synced it to. Can I still get my purchased tracks if I download iTunes on another computer?
If for some reason you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you can redownlaod some itunes content in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -

Since swapping my broken iphone 4s for a new one i have lost all my pictures from camera roll but they are still saved in my instagram. Is there a way to get them saved back to phone? Also my whatsapp is not working since upgrading to IOS6??
Please help. You can not put them back in the camera roll. The camera roll is temporary storage for new photos taken with the phone. You can sync them back to your phone in another album using iTunes.
As for whatsapp, ask the developer. That is not an Apple product. -

I was updating my software on my iphone 4 and it crashed so it recovered it and i restored it from its back up. However I have lost all my music and my apps but not my pictures. How can i get my music back. I did not remove my phone from the computer until it had said it had finsihed.
Media and apps are not part of the backup. They need to be re-synced from your itunes library or re-downloaded from the store.

I updated my 3g iphone to the ISO 5.0 & now i lost all the music that I had downloaded from CD's, but all the music i purchased is still there. How can I get my CD music back on my phone?
for purchases from the iTunes store do this:
connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
for everything else check out this post by Zevoneer. -
i backed up my ipod and i lost all my music. And its not letting me put my music back on my iPod and i also tried to buy a song from iTunes but it didn't download to my IPod. So now i dont have any music on my ipod now
What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

I have lost all my music and a site showed me how to get it back but the music wont play
My computer crashed and I lost all my music when I tryed to transfer all my music back into itunes the music wont play but it does play the new cds i have purchased from itunes
Please help as I have over 600 albums that i want to put onto my itunes that where there before my computer crashedMedia can be restored from the backup that should be kept of your important files. If you do not have a backup, that is not good.
Since you stated you recoved your music, does the music now actually exist on the computer? Do you see it in iTunes? What happens when you try to play it? Details are important, otherwise a lot of time can be wasted on irrelevant troubleshooting.
If the new music is playing, that would lead me to suspect that the old music was in fact not recovered. -
I use imovie 08 and know I'm way behind but it always worked just fine for me. For some reason I lost all my music & sound effects. Can anyone help me regain it back?

Sorry, I don't know why you lost your music and sound. -
Has anyone out there been having any problems with Itunes since updating Itunes. First it lost all our music (which I recovered), now it won't find my phone when I plug it in.
I hate to say it, but Apple is literally infamous for teething problems on new releases. It's usually fixed in two days, though that fix usually gets fixed, too, so sometimes a week, but does means downloading new updates.
My (experienced) advice? Wait a couple of days, check for updates, try again. Pray (or whatever works for you) that you don't have the "lost Apple Device Driver" problem several people are having.
I keep an older version of iTunes installer on a backup drive (or just in my downloads folder), just for such events. Worst-case, I've always been able to uninstall iTunes (including driver and user info), then install my old version of iTunes and roll on. Yes, my iTunes folder is on an external hard drive, so I can move it around to my different computers, and then keep a backup of that hard drive on a second external hard drive. Saves me a ton of headaches. -

Depending on which country that you are in you might be able to re-download it for free : re-downloading. Otherwise, have you not got a copy of them on your computer and/or on a backup that you can use to re-sync them to the iPhone ?
