I lost my calendar data with Yosemite 10.10.2

MacBook Air (late 2010) with installed OWC 480 gig SSD hard drive. Updated to Yosemite 10.10.2
Only my calendar data lost. My husband's data is fine both for office and home. My new data is now in a file called 'Calendar' which I did not create. Old file was AMWhome. I changed the name from 'home' a year or so ago in order to differentiate from my husband's home file.
Restoring data to the newly named 'Calendar' brings back the AMWhome name and data for about 3 seconds and then it is gone! I found these files in the trash.
I have my data on another machine (MacBook Pro) which I took off-line and copied the data file. I tried to restore the data from the file from the MacBook Pro with the same result, the AMWhome appears and the data appears for about 3 seconds and is gone.
So, now what can I do?
I cannot empty the trash on my MacBook Air and cannot go online with my MacBook Pro.
Help!
Thank you,
Adele Ward

1. Are you positive you looked at the correct backup IPD file. If it was backed up during the upgrade, it would be named something like "loader backup**todays date**.ipd"
They are normally saved to the My Documents folder.
2. Do you sync to Outlook or any application on your PC?

  • My iphone 5s is now a brick, i lost all my data with upgrading ios8.0.0 and ios8.01

i upgraded from ios7.1.2 to ios 8.0.0 and my wifi stoped working, it worked only few seconds in 1 minute, and my other apps start to lagg and couldn chat on them, so i was really happy when i saw new ios8.0.1 and started downloading it and tryed to install it but then all went wrong. so i lost all my data and i cant get it back, because when i try to restore my data from itunes it says restoring was incompleate... what can i do now?

Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
If this doesn't change anything, backup and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file, or maybe it's one of your apps causing the trouble. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Nokia 6303i, calendar, date with a note highlight

    Hello,
I just got a nokia 6303i as a work phone, and was wondering is there any way to get dates with notes or meetings highlighted in month view? In my current settings the dates get only bold marking wich makes very little difference. I need to see in a glance if I have something scheduled for a particular day, not by trying to determine if it is in bold or not.
Tryed out a couple of themes, none of them had it.
Tryed carbide.ui s40, but could not find an option to highlight dates with notes.
P.S. ataching an S60 calendar screen shot, wich has a red triangle in the corner for dates with notes or smth... So i need that in an S40, how hard can i be?

RKu2, this is not possible with the Nokia Suite. Although, it is a hot topic since the introduction of Symbian^3. Actually, this is a very hot one. However to summarize, there are alternatives for syncing the several calendars in your Outlook:
Mail For Exchange plus PC Suite
OMA DS (SyncML) plus PC Suite
OutlookAll2One creates one calendar in your Nokia
Winfonie mobile not sold anymore, creates one calendar in your Nokia
Mobile Master €30, creates one calendar in your Nokia
    CompanionLink Professional US$129
Please, test yourself because I could not test all of these alternatives myself. Furthermore, do not forget to feedback us your results.

How can I sync my iphone calendar iOS 7.1 to my iCalendar on my Mac?  I have snow leopard software if it makes a difference. I want to transfer my phone calendar dates to my Mac and always have them sync.
    In iTunes, select the iPhone.
Click the Info tab, scroll down and select what you want to sync.

  • I have lost my calendar data and am having a hard time retrieving it from Time Capsule. Can anyone help? I am using Mountain lion OS

I have lost my iCal data and am having a hard time retrieving it from Time Capsule. I am using Mountain Lion OS om iMac. Can anyone help?

You cannot see it because it is hidden.. one of those great things apple does.. if it is hidden in your Mac then it will be hidden in the Time Machine Backup.
You will need to restore the entire folder to a different location.. and unhide it.
There is some info here about restoring particular files or folders.
    http://pondini.org/TM/16.html
And some info from Lion which should also relate to Mountain Lion.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3231381?start=0&tstart=0
There is stuff about recovery near the end.
One wonders sometimes when Apple make these decisions if they ever think about what happens when something goes wrong. Hiding files..???

  • I lost my calendar data

All of a sudden, my calendar data disappeared. About a week after installing Mountain Lion. Nothing else to say...
    Any ideas?

Have you ever made a backup or Export your calendar archieve?
If you go to File, Export -> Calendar Archieve
you can save files whenever you feel like.
Or, do you have a compete Time Machines backup?

    Hi,
I just figured out the issue here...
I had created a DB "SiebelDB" with default sort order... Ideally Siebel 8.1.1 recommends Latin1_General_BIN as RDBMS collation and while runing database server configuration utility, it is recommended to select Binary sort order.
    Cheers,

  • Losing Calendar data with change of job

My work Outlook Calendar was synced with my iPad and iPhone via iCloud to my PC.  As I am about to leave this job, will I lose the historical data in this Outlook Calendar, or can I create a copy of it to store as an archive?

If you sign out of your iCloud account on the iCloud contol panel on the PC, it will be disconnected from your account but the synced data will remain in iCloud.  In other words, just sign out of your account on the PC before you leave and the data currently in iCloud, including the historical data in the calendar, will remain intact.

  • IOS 6 "lost" my calendar data

When I updated my iPad to the new OS all the data on my calendar from previous months disappeared! I was keeping track of some important information and now it is gone. I am not able to reconstruct some of this data. Where did it go and can I retrieve it somehow? Please help!

I had the same problem with my iphone 4S, but I don't have a menu item BKesley4 mentioned. My solution was:
To sync your calendars using iTunes:
With iTunes open, connect your iPhone or iPod to your computer.
Click the Info tab (or the Contacts tab)
Click on Sync Calendars checkbox if it's not checked in
Uncheck "Do not sync events older than x days"
    Click Apply

  • Putting pictures in calendar date WITH Text

I am stumped as to why Apple would do this? When you import all your dates into the calendar feature they show up. When you place a picture on one of those dates-the date and the text disappear. Was there not some easy way to make the picture transparent or smaller so the info can be shown as well. This to me is annoying-I want to see the name and date as well as the picture.Anyone found a backdoor way to do this?
    If not:
NOTE TO APPLE IN UPDATES: Make date and text visible on date block AS WELL as picture!
    Thanks!

You can get text over the pictures.
The trick is to cntr-click the picture and send it to the back. One would think this would be enough. However, you now need to cntr-click in the LOWER part of the square and select bring to front TWICE.
Using this recipe, I can consistently get text over pictures (and even change the color of the text for more contrast). However, this change does not seem to hold once you quit and restart iPhoto, at least for me. I am looking for confirmation of this fact in another message before I submit a bug report.

  • I lost all calendar events with mountain lion -- help!

I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and all looked fine until I opened Calendar -- no events!

    Jim,
I presume all of the calendars have a ✓ mark in the appropriate box?
Try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. To find that Library folder, use Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library. Drag the .plist file to your desktop, and log out/in or restart.
Then go to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder and remove any files with "Cache" as a part of the file name. Use the same method as listed above to get to the correct Library Folder. Log out/in, or restart and check iCal for functionality.

  • I lost my calendar data when upgrading from OS 8 to new OS 10

The OS upgrade worked fine.  Upon opening iCal in new Mountain Lion, I don't find any of my calendar entries from before the OS upgrade.

  • Lost all calendar data when upgrading from 10.4.11 to 10.6.1

So I bought the "MacOS X Boxed Set" for SNow Leopard, and installed it over my former 10.4.11 install on the main drive of my Intel-based iMac. Everything seems to have made the transition just fine -- my desktop icons, my emails, my dock, etc. Except for iCal. I open it and it's blank! Why? How do I restore all the recurring events and such that were in iCal previously?

  • HT2492 Is the decision not to share Calendar data with the iCal widget irrevocable?

Or is there a way to change this?

Have you checked the small info button (I) to see if there is a setting in the widget that would activate sharing? I couldn't find the widget to test.

  • Recovery of Calendar data lost when Merging with iCloud

I Was wondering if anyone could help.
Basically, I have somehow managed to wipe ALL the entries from my partners iPhone 5c calendar when turning calendars on for iCloud. When prompted I pressed the merge calendars button and then everything disappeared. I turned iCloud calendars off again and the calendar which was called something like "on my iphone" has disappeared.
I downloaded some 3rd party software which scanned the phone and found the calendar entries, but to restore them would cost my £55 for the full version of the software. Is there a way to access this data and restore it without spending this sort of money?
Just to complicate matters, a backup of her phone hasn't been done since the start of june, roughly 7 weeks ago. I'm concerned that if I restore from that backup she'll lose contacts she's added since there along with saves and other updates she's made to apps on her phone, which will put me in even more trouble than I'm in already. I'm guessing the phone hasn't been synced with iTunes since this backup was made, although I have transferred recent purchases.
So, is there a way to recover the calendar data that has disappeared without losing anything else?
    Thanks for for your help

    Hi
No I hadn't created a Calendar Archive before this mishap (I will now), and I thought it would be covered by the Time Machine Backup.   I was activating my iCloud drive for the first time and I think that it was doing this that somehow lost the calendar data. Previously the Calendar data was on the Mac hard drive.
I have now managed to get the old calendar back, but I don't quite know how.
The links to calendar backup in your reply led me to tinker more with the Time Machine, and the data on the My Passport drive directly. I could not see the any calendar directly in Finder or Time Machine, but a Finder search on My Passport's latest backup showed various calendar stuff, including .ics files, in [users/myname/library] which were hidden.
I either restored one of these, or imported one via Calendar. I tried both, but neither seemed to work at the time. However, I reopened Calendar a some time later and found that the “lost” calendar had returned.
I couldn't find a way of revealing hidden files in the preferences, and I think that the library containing the Calendar files must be hidden because I could only see them via “search”.
Anyway, all's well that ends well, but I wish that I really knew how I fixed it. Thanks for your help.
