I'm being stupid, how do I check my local IP?

I'm just trying to figure out my local IP, and it's really not working out because of my apparent stupidity.
Is there a way to find it in system profiler, or do I have to use a shady Terminal backdoor that I can't trust?

OK, I'm not sure what it is that you're looking for...
I'm assuming that you are connecting to the internet using a router - and on a network where multiple computers are using the same router.
The IP address returned by the Network Utility is the private IP address on the internal interface of your router. I imagine it's something like 10.0.0.1 or 10.0.1.1, etc. Every computer inside the network will have a similar address.
Based on your comment that "I have a stupid wifi ip that makes the internet see a fake ip for all computers on it" I'm assuming that your router is using Network Address Translation (NAT) to allow all the computers on your network to share a single IP address on the external interface (the part that faces the world). In such a case, that is your IP address and the router is keeping track of the mapping from inside to outside.
So, if neither of these it what you think you are trying to find, then you're going to have to provide more information...because at the moment I'm not sure what it is that you want.

XDB doesn't manage directories or files on the physical file system. In fact it is like a virtual file system completely stored in the DB.

You can execute some kind of firewall util (if any) and parse output to receive configuration and check is address blocked or no. But if you have no admin rights - it will not help you.
Actually there is no clear way to detect was packet blocked by FW or just lost somethere.

As those folders are constantly updating to match the server, once you have the emails downloaded, go into 'offline' mode and move them into 'Local Folders'; you will need to make new folders in Local Folders account for those emails.
However, it is possible that you may not get access as that contract has ended. There is no obligation for the old host company to keep your emails if you do not have an account with them. In which case those emails will be lost.
After creating new imap mail account, if you get access do as advised to get emails into Local Folders, once emails are in Local folders you can remove/delete the imap mail account. If it does not work, you can delete the imap mail account.

I am creating a custom MP3 player where audio playback is
started by clicking on the title of the audio, but I also want to
be able to start play abck from the Play/Pause button. In order to
implement this dual approach, I am thinking of checking if a sound
has been loaded (with 'mySound.loadSound("path to sound") already
by the my titleButton.
I am thinking of doing this by checking the
'mySound.position' as that would be 'undefined' if there was no
sound loaded.
But how can I check it for being 'undefined', what woud be
the syntax? Itexpects a number so I tried -1, but that didn't work.
Or is there a better way?

Carriage return in textarea - how do I check for and remove it???

I have an html form that has a <textarea> element for user input. I work mainly with Java and some JavaScript. Since carriage returns are permitted in a <textarea> element, upon retrieving the value submitted, my Java and/or JavaScript variables contain carriage returns as well, making the values incomplete.
For Example :

IPhoto won't open due to the not being updated but when I check to upgrade to iPhoto 11 it tells me it is installed. The photos in the library were modified using 9.1.5 and the iPhoto is said to be 7.1.5 (iPhoto 8). Any ideas?

How do you know the library was modified with iPhoto 9 (11)? If you've never had iPhoto 9 on your Mac it could'nt have. It sounds like a damaged library. Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

How do I check I have the latest Nvidia driver?

Ok - this question stems from an issue myself and a few other intel mac owners are having with photoshop CS3. After talking at length to an adobe tech support guy, he said that the issues could well be to do with needing to update the driver for my Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT graphics card.
After quite a bit of searching on Nvidia's site and apple's site I discovered that the drivers seem to be updated along with the apple software updates... as I'm fully up-to-date with those, I can only assume my graphics card driver is up-to-date too? How can I check this for sure and if we've discovered an issue between PS CS3 and the card how is best to report this?

Yep - rang apple today and they confirmed that I could partition my HD - I also have an exact copy of my Tiger setup on an external HD as backup so have purchased a copy of Leopard to get testing! ooooo excited! (ahem - but not being silly of course - lol)
aha - you use PS CS3 on leopard with no problems! very interesting - what mac do you have it on as I would be interested if it has similar spec to mine. Also there is an example of the issues I'm experiencing with my current set up at this link all done in a way that should have produced smooth lines:
