I'm living in the US if i have a friend who lives in Germany and has an iphone and we want to use imessage is it free or will i cost?

please help me out!! let me know if it costs to use imessage if i want to talk to a friend in germany!!!

as long as you see the blue imessages, there will be no international costs (i.e. it's the same as imessaging someone in the states).
to make sure you don't accidentally send a sms message...
1) turn off "send as sms"
or
2) associate an email with imessage (such as your icloud apple id email address) and send imessages to that address for each other (also change your caller ID in messages to that email address).
