I'm trying to update from 3.16 to 5 on Fedora 14. I'm new to Fedora and it downloads the update, but its not udpating.

OS - Fedora 14. I'm new to Linux and have downloaded the update for Firefox 5. Now what do I do? Nothing happened and when I open the folder containing the files, there is an updater executable but nothing seems to happen when I click on it. If I select Firefox icon from the Applications > Internet option I get the old version running (3.6.18). Also, the Icon in the top launcher bar is no longer showing the Firefox icon (its blank) and when I click on it nothing happens.

I want to make sure you're using the auto-update system, because that's the safest most reliable way to go, and it shouldn't appear in the download manager, so I lets make sure you're doing it right. <br/>
This is a screencast I made a couple of years ago. It refers to 3.5 and 3.6, but the steps are still the same: http://ilias.ca/screencasts/ISUHD45.mov
If that doesn't work, then maybe your Snow Leopard account doesn't have permission to update applications?
